Spider veins (also known as telangiectasias) are little red or blue veins that can occur anywhere on the body but most commonly on the legs, ankles, face, chest, or belly.

Spider veins are exceedingly prevalent and are generally associated with bigger dilated blood vessels (commonly blue or green in colour) known as reticular veins.

Sclerotherapy is a treatment for spider veins that includes injecting an irritating substance called a sclerosant into the spider vein using a small needle. Irritation of the injected blood vessel's interior wall makes it shut over and harden/become fibrous. The body progressively absorbs the vein over the next few weeks and months.
