My year 3’s had their first kitchen lessons with me this week and they were so excited. We made rice paper rolls with eggy omelette and loads of fresh produce including pretty edible flowers.
One little man when asked if he liked his rice paper rolls exclaimed that it had ‘too much nature in it’. Too funny
Had a great time in Bali recently doing a cooking class. I love learning new recipes and getting ideas for food I can teach others to make.
I think the kids will enjoy the Mee Goreng.
Thanks Chef Bagus!

Well done to all teams and especially the winning Purple team.
It was our last after school cooking for 2022 ☹️. It has been so much fun making all our yummy creations and learning new skills. I hope everyone enjoyed making their very brightly coloured gingerbread biscuits.
It was great to see all the participants grow in their confidence and abilities to cook a bit more independently.
Big thanks to Jon for helping out almost every session and we hope you enjoy your voucher. Thanks to all the family members who helped, even for a few minutes at the end of the session- much appreciated.

We were too busy enjoying our bowls of Pho to take many photos.
The smells in the kitchen were just amazing and the beef pho was very yum
Another fun week of Kitchen Workshops. Only two more to go for this year.
I’ve just seen another example of how choosing a product that claims to be ‘healthy’ can cause other unwanted symptoms.
I was watching a cooking show where he sweetened a dessert with a ‘maple flavoured syrup sweetened with monk fruit’. I was curious about this so googled the product and discovered it is also sweetened with erythritol.
Many people who struggle with irritable bowel issues have a lot of trouble with the sugar alcohols which is what erythritol is. It can cause bloating discomfort and more.
So… by trying to improve your health you can inadvertently cause more problems . Please check your ingredient lists and choose wisely.
Pad Thai for todays Kitchen Workshop. I saw some great knife skills and the dish was really delicious. Thanks Jon for running the session
By request we baked some amazing triple choc brownies in our Kitchen Workshop this week.
One group trialed a new gluten free recipe which turned out quite well.
We certainly had some happy chocolate smiles after this class!
These guys made fabulous risottos last night. They were really yummy and we had so much fun- especially the group who kept eating all the bacon before it made it into the risotto!
We adapted the recipe from https://www.recipetineats.com/chicken-and-mushroom-risotto/

A fun afternoon in the Summit Kitchen
Carmen’s have brought out a low sugar range of Muesli. I thought I’d try the almond and cashew one. I can clearly taste that it is less sweet than other mueslis.
So I came across this recipe when I was in Tasmania staying with HealthMap. Thought I’d have a go myself. Baked kale and ricotta gnocchi with balsamic tomatoes. Very delicious
One of the reasons why I like to discuss some of the diet fads with clients is so they can navigate the minefield of marketing that targets the latest food trends. One of these is plant based nutrition.
Having a plant based diet is a great way to reduce the amount of meat you consume without having to cut it out altogether. Unfortunately we are seeing many 'plant based' products which are highly processed and contain many additives and flavours. One example is these packs of plant based burgers which on first glance look promising but check out the ingredient list......
Coming to my plant based cooking sessions, you will learn how to navigate some of these products and learn to make quick and easy meals yourself.
I have moved! Now practicing from Suite 3/53 Ross Smith Avenue Parap
