Who are SSAA Darwin Branch Incorporated?

Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (Darwin Branch) Incorporated, is an affiliate of the state body SSSAA NT Inc., who in turn are affiliated to the National body, SSAA. The SSAA Darwin Branch Inc. has its home at the Mickett Creek Sport Shooting Complex, Knuckey Lagoon. The Mickett Creek Shooting Complex is located approximately 12 kilometres in a direct line north east of the Darwin CBD.

Congratulations Graeme and Johan sensational achievement!

Massive congratulations to Rigby shooters Graeme and Johan on finishing 1st and 3rd respectively in the Buffalo Target event at the 2024 International Big Game Rifle Shoot held in Darwin over the weekend.

Both getting the job done with the Rigby Big Game .416 Rigby Bolt Action Rifle, showing just how accurate these rifles are in this setting!

The 2024 International Big Game Rifle Competition is scheduled to take place from August 23-25 at the SSAA Mickett Creek Shooting Complex, Darwin, Australia. The event, sponsored by SSAA Darwin Branch inc, will host over 40 participants from across the globe and offer a prize pool of over $30,000. The competition will feature a range of events, including seven core events and three supplementary events, showcasing a mixture of internationally recognized courses-of-fire, such as animal targets and a moving target event. The program will also include the Special Snap and Double Rifle events, which have gained popularity worldwide.

URGENT NOTICE OF THE ANZAC DAY SHOOT.

Due to unforseen circumstances the 2024 Anzac Day shoot is POSTPONED until 4th May 2024

Please Come and join us for our annual ANZAC DAY SHOOT to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country in the defence of Freedom.

Bacon and Egg Breakfast from 0800 and BBQ Lunch covered by Registration Fees.

Adult Registration Fee $30 / Junior Participants Free
NOTE: The Branch also has SMLE .303 and 30-06 rifles that can be used.

Ammunition for both fi****ms available at the range for purchase

Rifle Eligibility
Military: As issued rifle. Iron Sights only, NO special target Sights e.g. Parker Hale

Sporting: Telescopic sights, NO restriction on power. No centrefire calibre restrictions
Type & order of shoot:
Both Military& Sporting will follow the same format, i.e. targets at 200 meters, as follows:

5 sighting Shots
5 rounds standing offhand
5 rounds sitting/kneeling
5 rounds prone or sitting/kneeling (No Bipods)
ยท Unlimited rounds Rapid Fire event @ 50m over 30 seconds

Targets
Sporting: Standard red-ringed SSAA 200 metre round target

Military: Larger service targets to compensate for lack of Scope

Pistol Eligibility
Military: As issued service pistol. Iron Sights ONLY, NO special target sights, 9mm , 45 & .22.

Type & order of shoot:
Slow Fire: 10 rounds in 10 minutes, Rapid Fire: 10 rounds in 10 second
ยท NOTE NEW REQUIREMENTS for non-Category-H shooters. A Prohibited Persons Declaration form is required to be completed and sent to the NT Police 14 days before the event. Club pistols available.

Well done to everyone that came down and attended the Remembrance Day Shoot here yesterday.

Congratulations to Ian- Top Gun, Craig- Top Gun, Kerry, Barry, Jon, Dave, Jessie-Top Gun Lady and Tiff winning 1st, 2nd, 3rd well done, see the results in the photos below.

It was great to have a couple of the ladies join us today, Tiff was a first time shooter and did very well.

While Jessie has had experience with handguns it was the first time using a rifle and she took out the Top Gun Lady on the day, 2nd Sporting rifle and 3rd Military rifle.
