I want to remind everyone in our Industry that someone is always there to listen when you need to talk and offer confidential support for one another 👍
As a former volunteer and 1st responder for both StJA and NTES as well as my own struggles with mental health in the past.
Early in 2021, I completed my ASSIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Safety Training) with MATES in Construction because in trying times and situations, there's NOTHING worse than losing a family member or a friend because they didn’t think they had anyone to talk to
Even in my own struggles, my phone is always on, door is always open and a drink can easily be shared.
Regards,
Rick
Check in on ya mates everyday....
Which are your top 3 for choosing an apprenticeship and a career in construction, was it one of these?
1. I wanted to get paid while I learn a recognized qualification / accreditation and skill for life.
2. I like physical work / working with my hands
3. I get satisfaction from building and making different things
4. It's the family business / I want to be like (i.e. Dad/Mum)
5. It's what I've always wanted to do
6. Cost - I didn't want to start out with a large HECS debt or need to, find a job / balance working, while I studied for a degree
7. It was suggested as the best choice by my careers advisor / teacher.
8. I wanted practical skills to go with the knowledge compared to graduates.
9. I felt it was a good career choice for me (i.e. build on business
10. I wanted a job change
