Northern Territory Art Award 2024 - WINNER People's Choice Award
As the NT Art Award Exhibitions have come to an end for 2024, we are pleased to announce the People's Choice Award, and winner of $1000.
Artist: Kayne Mabey
Artwork: Drill Bit the Northern Territory Crocodile
Kayne is a part-time metal sculpture artist, who created 'Drill Bit' after a mere 100 hours of sculpture experience under his belt. The focus of 'Drill Bit' was to use only repurposed materials, bringing them together in a way that both honours their original use and transforms them into something entirely new.
'Drill Bit' is more than just a sculpture; it is transformational piece of metal art, showcasing the sustainability of metal, and the endless possibilities that arise when we look at the world through a lens of creativity and resourcefulness.
Congratulations Kayne!
