Darwin Symphony Orchestra
Beautiful locations, passionate volunteers and music for our community!
A leading cultural organisation in the Northern Territory and its only symphony orchestra. The Darwin Symphony Orchestra is comprised of more than 60 volunteer musicians, a professional Concertmaster and Principal players. The DSO is recognised for taking their music to isolated communities in the Northern Territory which rarely have the opportunity to experience a live symphony orchestra, as well as regular indoor and outdoor concert appearances in Darwin.

🎵 A reflection on communication failure 🎵
Shortly before the pandemic, James Ledger attended a performance of Beethoven’s 3rd symphony. Inspired by the parallels between Beethoven’s hearing impairment during the time of this composition and the absence of communication felt by the pandemic, Ledger’s new composition was born. Signal Lost, a meditative piece on the failures of communication, plays on 17th August at Darwin Entertainment Centre. 🎶
