August is Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Tradies National Health Month!

🔨One in every ten Australian workers are a tradie.

🪛A recent survey found nine out of ten tradies experienced a work-related injury in the past year!

🔧Providing access to physiotherapy services is crucial for ensuring a healthier, more productive workforce.

🪚Tradies Health Month prompts tradies to prioritise their health and wellbeing. Encouraging employers, family members and friends to support them in addressing their pain/injuries so they can work safely and comfortably.

🧰Tradies Health Month was established by the (APA) to highlight the unique position of physiotherapists in preventing, diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues that plague tradies throughout their careers.

This Female Football Week, we shine a light on the Territory's own Elli Makrylos, also known as the heartbeat for Hellenic. ⚽️

Elli embarked on her journey from junior leagues to the Women's Premier League. Despite facing an ACL injury in 2020 amidst the pandemic, she tackled the challenges head-on, opting for rehab and staging a triumphant comeback in 2022. 💪

However, a subsequent reinjury led her to undergo surgery with the esteemed Greg Keene, which also marked his final operation before retirement. 🏥

Throughout the ups and downs of her recovery, Elli remained steadfast in her determination to return to the field. With the support of Josh Tidswell from Elite Physio, she pushed through rehab, making a remarkable comeback to the game she adores. 🌟

Her resilience and dedication are truly admirable. Now, Elli embraces a fresh start, donning the number 23 jersey. 🔄

Such a crucial part of end stage rehab and return to sport (RTS) testing for lower limb injuries (hips, knees, ankles).

•Deqlhan Files•

We are super excited to have Deqlhan join the Elite team.

Deqlhan completed his Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Physiotherapy at Flinders University. He made the decision to move to Darwin after completing placements up here and loving it.

With a keen and energetic attitude, Deqlhan has particular interests in treating acute sports injuries, lower limb injuries, and back conditions. Through personal sports injuries, including an ACL reconstruction, he has developed a deep appreciation for the commitment and discipline required during the rehab journey.

When not in the clinic you’ll find Deqlhan on the golf course, in the gym, or running along the Nightcliff foreshore. He has a keen interest in all sports and is looking forward to opportunities to work and travel with various sporting teams.
