Hello, to all our fellow customers who have become our friends and part of ours lives, for the last ten years 🥰

It is with a heavy heart to announce that Saigon Bites will be closing with our final day of trade to be on Saturday, 25th of March, 2023.

My parents, Ly and Linda, are from a familiar story of the Vietnamese refugees who fled the Vietnam war in the late 70s to find a better life in Australia. Ly fought in the war, as a captain of the South Vietnamese Navy, and has endless stories of battle and horrific sights he has witnessed. Linda also fled her home, to seek a better life for herself and her war torn family. They met in Sydney and that was the start of forever after.

My parents have had many adventures together and have supported their 5 children by working hard and many long hours. Throughout our whole childhood, Ly has always been the cook and our dinners were the highlights. Everything he was taught was passed by his own mother back home. Food has always been the love language in our household.

In 2013, we decided to open Saigon Bites and serve Vietnamese food to the local people of the central coast. We wanted to stay as true as we could to our roots and share what we love about where we’ve come from.

It’s been a crazy ten years, we’ve no doubt had our fair share of tears and long nights, but the friendships we’ve made and the food we’ve been able to share, have all been worth it. Nothing makes Linda and Ly more happier than people enjoying their food. But alas, it is time for them to retire and rest.

I don’t know how to thank each and everyone one of you all for supporting us over the years. Whether you’ve been with us from our first year of trade (you know who you are), or you’ve only recently stumbled upon us by accident. We honestly wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you all, for making us feel like family and for making us feel at home.

So please, come and say goodbye to us one last time, and if you do want to dine in please book a table as it can get busy with just the 2 in the kitchen.

Saigon Bites updated their business hours.

Dear Customers,

We hope you’ve all been well!

Just a public announcement for our customers new and old, we will be closed on both Monday and Tuesdays moving forward, starting from next week on the 23rd of May.

It’s been tough for us with the lack of staff and with Ly being unwell, and the teething pains and issues our customers experience, when there’s only one cook in the kitchen. We’ve realised it’s best to cut our days short for the moment until we figure things out that’s best for both the business, our family and you guys.

We will still be open from:
Wednesday - Thursdays, 4.15 pm - 9 pm for dine in and take away

Happy Easter and hope everyone's preparing for those Easter egg hunts this weekend 😁 We will be, which is why we'll be taking a couple days off to recover and eat as many choccies as possible!

SB Public Announcement!

We would like to extend our appreciation for all our customers who have been with us since day 1, from 2013 and to those who only stumbled upon us recently hiding away in the East Gosford Victoria Courts. As you may, or may not, be aware, the Mum (Linda) and Dad (Ly) of Saigon Bites have been the only two cooks instrumental in providing their food to all our customers since we opened. Dad is now in his 70's, and his health is deteriorating. The man who brought to you the tasty bo luc lac (shaking beef), the stir fries and beloved curries. Our service has not always been the best due to long wait times, and that's because Ly cooks the dishes one by one as soon as they are ordered. Due to no longer having Ly being able to assist us in the kitchen, it's just our Mum, and she's been struggling trying to handle multiple orders at the one time.

With this, and the staff shortages and not being able to find another Vietnamese chef on the coast, we will be re-vamping our menu and reducing it to just a select few that Linda can manage. We will also be offering limited seats to eat-in and will focus on take-away and deliveries. We won't have options to book a table anymore, so please feel free to call us up to see how long the wait times are.

We will be closed from the 7th of Feb until the 9th of Feb to make the new menus and to take care of Ly.

We know this is a huge change for a lot of our customers as our stir-fries and chef specials were what brought a lot of you back. We will still have some our favourites so keep an eye out in the next few days for the release of our new menu.

Ly wants to say thank you to all of you and that you guys made his day when you complimented his food. His smile always lit up the room.

New Trading Hours and Dining in!

As of the 12th October, we will be accepting bookings for our dine in clients, of course keeping to Covid guidelines. There will a few tables for inside as well as our outdoor alfresco area. Bookings are essential, you can do it by booking on our website or contacting us directly. All reservations will also have a 2 hour dining time to give everyone a chance to eat at a restaurant again 🙂

Hi Guys,

Hope you’re all faring well!

Just an update on opening hours, we will be closed on both Monday and Tuesday’s moving forward until further notice. The family (especially our older chef) is just needing more rest days to recoup.

We really appreciate all your support during these times and apologise if this causes any frustrations.

We also look forward to providing outdoor dining in our alfresco area once lockdown eases hopefully next month.
