Studies show that massage is being seen as a promising option to assist with pain management in the general population.
Massage is used in allied health care in many areas such as injury rehabilitation and oncology and to assist with management of anxiety and other mental health disorders.
How can massage benefit you?

Research continues to shed light on massage therapy as a promising option for managing pain in the general population. This study highlights that massage therapy is effective compared to sham treatments, no treatment, and certain active treatments. Notably, massage therapy also improves anxiety and health-related quality of life alongside managing pain.

The significant effects of massage therapy on reducing state anxiety and depression are documented in this 2004 meta-analysis.

It suggests that massage therapy is an effective non-pharmacological intervention in mental health care, with similar magnitude of effects to psychotherapy.

Has anyone else noticed that icebaths are having a moment?
Why sit in a container of freezing cold water you ask?
Ice baths have plenty of benefits to your training and have been shown to assist with recovery after training by increasing circulation which then assists with muscle soreness and muscle repair. Other potential benefits are here⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Mighty magnesium!
A lot is known about the benefits of magnesium but approx 80% of adults are magnesium deficient.

Some of the key benefits include:-
* assisting in maintaining a healthy blood pressure and blood sugars
* muscles and nerves working correctly
* production of proteins bone and DNA

Magnesium can be found in foods such as nuts,seeds, wholegrains and leafy greens and the amount required for healthy body function varies depending on age and gender.

Love pancakes but want a healthier alternative?
Protein pancakes are super easy and able to be made gluten and dairy free.

Recipe:-
2 eggs
pinch cinnamon to taste
scoop of vegan protein powder(vanilla usually is best)
pinch baking soda
2 Tbs GF flour
Almond milk

Place all ingredients bar milk into bowl and combine. Gradually add almond milk until desired consistency is achieved then cook over medium heat.
Serve with coconut yoghurt, GF muesli or granola, fruit or other desired toppings. Soo yummy!

It's that time of year again!

Sooooo many people start off with the best of intentions and then within a few weeks fall off the wagon and are back where they began.
How can we help ourselves stay on track?
There are some really great ideas here( in particular having people support you-love that!)but I also encourage using a SMART goal. A SMART goal is
S- Specific
M- Measurable
A- Achievable
R- Realistic
T- Timetabled
Here are 2 goals:-
I want to get fit in 2024....or....
I want to perform 10 bodyweight pullups by June 30th, 2024.

Happy Sunday all!
After a few days at home with my DD who has a nasty case of tonsillitis we both needed fresh air. So before the weather got too hot Little miss got in the pram and we went for a walk to check out the new houses being built in the new estates near us...I may have daydreamed about which ones I'd like to purchase along the way. New logos are live!
I loved and still love my previous logo but it was time to update as my skillset has grown since the business inception.
Initially I started off as just offering personal training I now offer further services such as nutrition coaching, small group training and both remedial and Swedish massage.
I've just signed up for my next upskill to benefit my clients ...watch this space!

This is not a mistake- those are 1kg dumbbells at my feet. These represent the not so fun part of training- injuries.
For those not in the know I've been dealing with a painful shoulder injury involving nerve pain and movement issues for more 4 months.
It's finally now resolving to the point of moving on the the next stage of the process- rehabilitation and a slow steady return to strength training with that shoulder and the affected muscles. So just like anyone else I'm starting light with a focus on form and correct alignment to improve the muscle weaknesses that contributed to the injury and rebuild the strength I have lost in my shoulder.
I won't lie- it's not fun. Injuries suck.
As someone who enjoys weight training and lifting heavy needing to work with weights this light are definitely playing havoc with me mentally.
BUT this is a long game and I'm checking my ego at the door and sticking to the plan to ensure that it heals as well as possible it's all about patience and gradually building up again at a steady pace.

If you have existing or previous injuries that are hindering your health and fitness goals let's talk- I'd love to work with you(and your care team if involved) to help you move better, reduce any pain and get you back on track to living life and doing the things you love.
