When your neighbour has a passionfruit vine, and it grows over your fence, dropping it's delights on your side 😁🥭😋
💬 There's a strange rumour going around that fruit isn't healthy because of the sugar content, and I'm going to clear that right up for you!
✔ Fruit is AMAZINGLY healthy for you!! ✔
🍊 It's full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are absolutely vital for you!
🍏 It's loaded with fibre, essential for healthy bowels, keeping you regular, and feeding your gut bacteria to keep them happy too!
🍓 The fibre slows down the absorption of the sugars (fructose in this case), so it doesn't affect your blood sugar levels like other foods do, such as chocolate bars.
🫐 Natural sugars, like those in fruit, are actually great for you, giving your body the essential nutrients it needs for energy, and especially your brain which solely runs off these sugars!
🥝 And, fruit is delicious! There's nothing better than the sweet hit from your favourite fruit 🤗
So, please. Eat the fruit. Eat it all up. It's nature's dessert and it's here to be loved and enjoyed, by YOU!

Secondly, I'm writing an ebook (a free one!) and I want YOU to tell me what I should write it about.

1. The Three Domains of Health (body, mind, soul) and how to optimise them to become your healthiest self.
2. How to eat a More Plant-Based Diet (not full vegan, just increase plant foods for greater nutrient consumption).
3. Swap This, for That (how to enjoy food you love but make healthier versions for greater benefit).

If you're one of the above, chances are you're cutting out whole food groups from your diet 🚫
When you take something OUT, you have to put something back IN:

When you cut whole food groups, there may also be nutrients you're not getting, and it's really important to be aware of those so you can find them from other places.
Luckily, I've made you a handy reference guide!
If you're cutting ✔ dairy ✔ gluten, or ✔meat, there's a bunch of other foods you can add to your diet 🤗
You don't want to negatively impact your health, when you're actually trying to improve it!

Lots of spinal flexion and extension! These kinds of movements are super important to keep your spine healthy, mobile, and flexible 🦴
The health of your spine has a direct impact on everything else, because of course it houses your control centre - the central nervous system.
Keep the spine healthy and the rest of you will benefit! 🤸♀️
🔆 Mandala 🔆
Traditionally they help to focus your attention, as a spiritual guidance tool.
But they also represent the journey, moving from the outside layers inwards.
The inner core = your final destination.
You can apply this to your health journey!
➡️ Start at the outside
➡️ Take one little step, making one little change at a time
➡️ Repeat as many times as you need to, before you arrive at your goal.
Changing your habits to improve your health isn't just a one-step process - and it's not meant to be!
It's just small incremental shifts, adding something in and taking something out.
You don't need to put so much pressure on yourself. You're doing amazingly already!

This is my favourite day of the year.
I love looking back at the year, looking at what was great and what wasn't so great, checking in on my progress and my goals, and then casting my eye forwards to the next 12 months 🧐
I feel like it's such a symbolic time, where we can make plans, set goals, and clarify the path ahead ➡️
The coming year is a vast space of endless potential and possibility!

It's a bit cliché, but there's a reason this is a common saying.
Let's face it, the last year-and-a-half have been intense. We've had to adapt to a situation none of us ever could have imagined, and there have been struggles.
I live in a different country to my family, like many others, and I haven't been able to see them. But I am so, so grateful that I, and they, still have our health.
Health is the very foundation of everything, and when that is lost, everything else crumbles down 🧱
When you invest in your health, it's an investment in every other area of your life!
So choose to invest, because your health is priceless 🥗🥦🥑🏃♀️🙏💰🌟
I was thinking this morning about how we transition between yoga poses. Finding the flow, moving with fluidity, and focusing just as much on the transition as we focus on the end pose itself.
It's a bit like life really. We have this tendency to focus only on the end goal, the milestone moments. But we forget that there are moments in the space between those things too!
Don't forget to enjoy the journey just as much as you enjoy the finish line ✨
I've been a little quiet here lately.... 🤭
Between studying at university (almost five years now!) 📚 teaching yoga 🧘♀️ working part-time (Centre Manager and Chiropractic Assistant for a great Chiropractor friend of mine) 🥼 building a house 🏠 and trying to spend time with my husband and dog in between, it's been a ridiculously busy year 🥴
BUT...

🧘♀️ Happy International Day of Yoga! 🧘♀️
Yoga has been an absolute blessing to me.
I started when I was 20, practised with dedication for two years, then started traveling and let it become a rather intermittent feature in my life. Fast forward to 2011, going through a major life upheaval, and a little voice in my head said "You need to go to yoga".
So I did. And I haven't stopped.
It allowed me to ground, learn how to respond to situations mindfully and not reactively, gave me time to work through my thoughts and emotions, and helped me find purpose at a time when I wasn't sure where I was going 🙏
At 41, I also feel fit, strong, and flexible. And really happy about it! 😄

It took me years to be able to do this pose. My hips just didn't seem to like moving in this way.
Even now it's not 100% there.
But, like absolutely everything in life, yoga takes practice. Because it IS a practice.
Some bodies find certain shapes easier than others, some take a while to find the space and mobility, and others may never find it due to their own unique anatomical structure.
And that's okay!
Celebrate your differences, your strengths and your weaknesses, because all of them make the perfectly unique being that is YOU!

I was up in Broome during the last week, and had the honour of watching the lunar eclipse. I took these pics, one at moonrise, and one at full eclipse 🌙
I think the moon has so much to teach us.
That it's okay to be in darkness, and darkness is only temporary. The light will always come back, such is the circle of life.
That it's okay to hide yourself for a while, and when the time is right you can shine in your fullness again 🌕
And it reminds me of just how vast this universe is, how tiny and insignificant we are, yet how totally significant we are as we are connected to it all 💫
It's pretty spectacular, isn't it!
There are lots of ways you can meditate, be more mindful, and switch off for a while 🧘♀️ and one of my most favourite ways is hiking ⛰
It's just you, nature, and your feet steadily moving you along a path 👣 It's peaceful. It's deserted (usually).
Sarah Wilson in her (incredible) book This One Wild and Precious Life, says that hiking is the most direct way to connect to life, our true nature, and ourselves. We gain emotional space, space from consumption, and space away from our thoughts. It's like therapy.

I took the opportunity to escape to Denmark, WA, for some serious back-to-nature time. Hubby and I watched ducks, perused markets, explored beaches and climbed up things. This particularly moody shot was taken from the top of Monkey Rock 🌥

I know buying organic food can be both expensive, and also difficult to find. But not every crop needs to be organic - some are worse than others 🥬
The general rule is, if it has a protective outer layer that you don't eat - think melons 🍈 avocado 🥑 corn 🌽 pineapple 🍍 etc - then it's 'Clean'.
If it doesn't have any protection - think leafy greens 🥬 apples 🍏 tomatoes 🍅 strawberries 🍓 etc - then it's 'Dirty'.

People always talk about keeping an open mind, but what about keeping an open heart? 💗
If we did a little less thinking, analysing, compartmentalising, judging, and got out of our own heads, to instead do a little more FEELING.
