Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders please be aware the following message has images and words of deceased persons.
We’re deeply saddened to hear the news of local Indigenous artist Jurrawaa Stanley’s passing. A prominent Kurnai/Wotjabaluk artist, musician and storyteller, he lived and created on Wadawurrung country. His legacy with the TAC will live on through the artwork he created for our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), The Roads that Keep Us Connected.
Our heartfelt thoughts are with Jurrawaa’s family, Nikki and children, to all his extended family, friends and community.
We acknowledge the pain and sadness felt by our First Nations community, and the wider community, with the passing of Norm Stanley. We recognize Norm’s huge contribution to Ceremonies, Art, Education and Culture. We say Nyatne (thank you) for everything he did with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, where he was always well respected and valued - he will be dearly missed. We send our condolences, love and support to Wadawurrung Woman Nikki Stanley and children, and to all Norm’s family and the community.
