Before we settle in to watch the Matildas at the 2024 Paris Olympics, we are keen to congratulate our talented local footballers on their recent success at Football Victoria's Girls Cup!🥇 👏
Geelong's Under 12 and Under 13 Representative Country Championship teams competed at Football Victoria's Girls Cup in mid-July, sporting their GeelongPort uniforms once again.
While it was a last-minute entry into the tournament, both teams saw success with the Under 13s walking away from the grand final as champions, and the Under 12s being narrowly beaten to finish runners-up. Well done all!
GeelongPort is proud to support women's football in Geelong and we look forward to seeing this young group of superstars shine in coming years. ⭐
The next generation of football talent in Geelong is looking promising!

North Shore Football & Netball Club (NSFNC) has a strong passion for supporting and engaging youth in the Northern suburbs, and GeelongPort is proud to play a small role in helping the club achieve this.
This year, GeelongPort is sponsoring two of the five categories within NSFNC's Northern Bay P-12 College scholarship program, the Hansen "Rocky" Couzens Indigenous Art Scholarship and the Women in Trade Scholarship.
The recipients of the scholarships are set to be awarded in Term 4 and we look forward to meeting the north of Geelong's next bright stars!
Thank you to Dan Batten and the Geelong Advertiser for this fantastic article.
Our NAIDOC celebrations wrapped up with the wonderful Wadawurrung artist, Dr Deanne Gilson.
Members of the GeelongPort community and the port team heard from the inspiring artist who shared stories and the meaning behind her incredible creations, a modern take on ceremonial cloaks.
Her incredible art captures the beauty of Country but also plays a deeper role in preserving and highlighting cultural practices and symbology, thereby awakening culture once again.
The exclusive showing was made possible thanks to the National Wool Museum Geelong and indigenous inspired catering from The Gordon's Davidson restaurant.
What a way to close out NAIDOC week. Thank you Dr Gilson and all who participated in the commitment towards Reconciliation.
In celebration of NAIDOC Week, GeelongPort has again become DjilangPort, honouring the traditional Wadawurrung name of our town.
Signage across DjilangPort's two precincts, Corio Quay and Lascelles Wharf, have been updated to reflect our name change for NAIDOC Week.
At DjilangPort, we are working closely with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) as we deliver our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan. We thank WTOAC for their constant guidance and knowledge sharing as we continue on our commitment to reconciliation.
In addition to the change to DjilangPort, we are looking forward to further celebrating NAIDOC Week with our team members later this week. Stay tuned for a wrap-up of that activity!
GeelongPort has been a proud supporter of Ocean Mind Incorporated for the past five years, and this year we sponsored their annual art competition where participants were invited to draw what the ocean meant to them.
A four-year Ocean Mind participant, Lucie, was the talented winner for her artwork which beautifully captured the feeling of freedom and joy she experiences in the water.
Lucie’s winning design is now featured on Ocean Mind’s 2024 range of merchandise and available for purchase, with every purchase directly supporting Ocean Mind to deliver life-changing surf therapy programs for young people. You can purchase here: https://www.oceanmind.theprintbar.com/shop/category/2024-Merch-Lucie?c=4854691
GeelongPort provided Lucie’s prize of a wetsuit thick enough to help her brave the winter cold and enjoy the surf all year round – congratulations Lucie!
Yesterday’s North Shore Football & Netball Club sponsors breakfast was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the club’s 2024 indigenous jumper alongside Victorian Government Treasurer Tim Pallas MP, local member Ella George MP and City of Greater Geelong’s Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken and Cr Sarah Hathway Windermere Ward.
Each year the artwork is designed by a talented student from Northern Bay P-12 College👏🏻. The student wins the Hansen “Rocky” Couzens Scholarship for Indigenous Art and their design is adapted into the netball skirt and football tops.
Located just five minutes from the port, the North Shore Seagulls play an important role in growing junior sport participation in the northern suburbs of Geelong, increasing physical activity, and building social connection.
Well done to all the sponsors that came together at the breakfast to support this amazing club.
In recognition of National Reconciliation Week, GeelongPort today took a group of 20 team members to the opening day of the Journey on Wadawurrung Country exhibition at Grant Pavilion in Torquay.
The group were able to immerse themselves in the beautiful portraits of Wadawurrung Elders while listening to their personal stories and the stunning sounds of Wadawurrung Country.
A terrific and powerful experience curated by the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, Ferne Millen and Vicki Hallett, the Journey on Wadawurrung Country exhibition is free for the entire community every day until Sunday 16 June.
GeelongPort is proud to work closely with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation on our journey to reconciliation, as we work through the delivery of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
Today we remember the sacrifice of all men and women who serve and have served to defend our country.
The sun was shining on Saturday for the 2024 Surf Coast Trek – a 26km or 40km walk along the Surf Coast Trail raising funds for Kids+ and Give Where You Live Foundation.
Eight of our amazing GeelongPort team members were part of the 1100-strong group who completed the trek. They did so in incredible conditions, with our stunning coastline putting on a show for everyone who participated. Shoutout to our GeelongPort trekking superstars – Eric Crisostomo, Alex Walmsley, Paul Gregor, Adam Le Guern, Richard Harvey, Pedro Cascão, Samantha English and Philip Little.
GeelongPort was again a proud sponsor of the event, and for the fourth year running, we were stationed at the Point Addis rest stop, handing out Australian-made GeelongPort socks to the trekkers as they passed through.
Congratulations and thank you to Give Where You Live Foundation for holding such a fantastic event for such a great cause.

Through our sponsorship of the Corio Little Athletics Centre, GeelongPort aims to make local sport accessible for children in our region. It was fantastic to get along to the Corio Little Athletics Centre championships and help Ella George MP and local councilors Anthony Aitken and Sarah Hathway present some medals to our future athletes.
Well done to everyone who participated over the season!

Pedal Power
Friday night the region shone bright with the weather and fun times had by families at the GeelongPort Family Ride.
Nearly 800 people, parents, grand-parents and children on two and three wheelers cruised a mini course of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race along Geelong’s spectacular waterfront.
The free, family event focused on bike riding at every level not just for elite cyclists, although many professional riders and their children were on the course including Cadel and his children.
The smiles, laughs and a few competitive kids trying to out race each other made for a fabulous Friday twilight ride. Big and small pedaled the pavement sailing through the gantry at the start/finish line of the international race in the name of the only Australian to have won the Tour De France.
In the event village children waited patiently in the hugely popular line to pedal bikes that created power to make their own smoothies.
It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend before school starts with an accessible bike event encouraging all.
Check out what legendary voice of bike racing, Mr Phil Liggett had to say.
Cadel Road Race
Family fun in Geelong! It was wonderful to see so many people from our local community take to the streets in the GeelongPort Family Ride.
The Family Ride means a lot to our region, and we were thrilled to support this unique part of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.
The fun and excitement doesn't end there! Our GeelongPort marquee will be open for the rest of the weekend. Head to Steampacket Gardens and guess how many GeelongPort ships are in the clear box for the chance to win a $1,000 Spirit of Tasmania voucher! Make sure you snap a selfie in our photo wall while you are there.
Bring your bike not your bat next Friday night as we cruise around Geelong's waterfront on the mini course to kick off the Cadel Road Race.
Australian Cricket Coach Andrew McDonald and his family are encouraging us all to join the GeelongPort Family Ride. It's fun, free and a chance for some family time.
Registrations are free and you might get a GeelongPort race t-shirt and could also end up riding beside Cadel Evans.....
In 2024, GeelongPort is supporting the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation's Pilk Purriyn truth-telling event, taking place in Torquay at sunrise on Friday 26 January.
Pilk Purriyn means “sunrise” in Wadawurrung language, and the event is held at Cosy Corner Beach at 5.30am to symbolise the dawning of a new era of understanding and reconciliation between all people.
With more than 2000 people attending the first Pilk Purriyn event in 2023, it is a unique opportunity for First Nations and non-First Nations people to gather and acknowledge the history of our nation.
There will be a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony and speakers engaging in truth-telling about the history of the First People of the land. There will also be Cultural dance and song.
Everyone is invited to attend this free event and registrations for attendance are now open: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pilk-purriyn-tickets-722572302207?aff=oddtdtcreator

Cadel Evans and Ella George MP joined us at Northern Bay P-12 College to unveil GeelongPort as the new sponsor of the Cadel Road Race Family Ride.
It was inspiring to see such an engaged group of students listening to Cadel's advice to follow their dreams and don't listen when people tell you you're not good enough.
Cadel then dropped into the port for a Q&A session with our team and a tour of the port. In addition to sharing insights into his incredible career and why he started the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, he gave us all great tips on maintaining motivation and how to manage stress.
The GeelongPort Family Ride is focused on health and wellbeing in the community and creating benefits for the local region – two things that tie closely to our values.
Cadel and the team are thrilled to have a Geelong organisation supporting a Family Ride created for local families.
“GeelongPort sees the value in supporting and fostering community activity and bringing people together – a motivation for us when we created the ride,” he said.
We admire the event’s mission of making cycling more accessible, and we hope to see you all down at the waterfront on Friday 26 January 2024!

GeelongPort is proud to announce that we are again supporting the Corio Little Athletics Centre for a third straight season.
On Saturday morning, Sinead Redmond and Jenna Handreck from our team attended Goldsworthy Reserve in Corio for the opening of the 2023/24 season.
City of Greater Geelong Deputy Mayor Anthony Aitken opened proceedings before all five clubs paraded along the home straight of the running track. Well done and good luck to the 2023/24 Centre Captains who received their badges from Member for Lara Ella George MP on the day.
It was great to see such enthusiasm amongst the hundreds of kids competing and we look forward to another great season!
Last week, Geelong turned on the charm for more than 250 members of the maritime industry who visited our stunning city for the 2023 Ports Australia Business and Operations Conference.
The two-day conference was officially opened by The Honourable Melissa Horne MP, the Victorian Government’s Minister for Ports and Freight who spoke of the importance of our freight networks.
With events such as a Gala Dinner at The Pier restaurant overlooking the stunning Corio Bay and a Women in Ports Breakfast at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club it’s hard to choose a highlight. However, we did hear a lot of buzz about the boat tour of GeelongPort hosted by our very own Head of Service Delivery Chris Anderson on board one of the fantastic Port Phillip Ferries vessels!
It was a fantastic event coordinated by the Ports Australia team who should all be commended on the ex*****on of an interesting few days focusing on cyber security, automation, digitisation and sustainability – topics that are critical to all Australian ports.
A great opportunity to get involved with Ocean Mind Incorporated!
