This morning we had the pleasure of attending a charity breakfast in support of Cottage by the Sea, hosted by Ambassador, Ian Cover.

Wealth Built Right clients Don & Judy Blackmore, Peter & Alison Searle, Mark Donato & Kate Morrissy, Lucy Cuddihy, Geoffrey & Morag Mann and Ann Hague joined us for an enjoyable morning.

We had the pleasure of hearing from the witty and inspiring guest speaker Dr Paul Taylor (a former British Royal Navy Aircrew Officer, Neuroscientist, Exercise Physiologist and Nutritionist, PhD Scholar and all-round ‘Pracademic’) who gave us tips on “Tackling the Winter Blues.”. We also heard from The Unbreakable Farmer – Warren Davies (Ambassador) and Rebecca Maddern (Patron).

Prizes were raffled off to raise funds for Cottage by the Sea, and we are pleased to say that Don and Judy Blackmore were winners of the ‘Cottage by the Sea morning tea’. Well done Don and Judy!

We would like to thank everyone for joining us to support such a great cause.

Christmas seems to have snuck up on us very quickly this year. However, It has been terrific that our world returned to some form of normality in 2022 even though not too many people I know escaped catching the dreaded Covid.

The decade long party of low inflation and low interest rates came to a resounding halt and most markets underperformed over the past year. From what I can see people are still spending despite rising interest rates and what we read in the press.

But then again, misery loves a friend and consequently I don’t take too much notice of what the mainstream press has to say on a day-to-day basis. Most of it is irrelevant noise.

The world has a funny way of muddling its way along and building diversified portfolios of quality assets on an ongoing basis is the key to wealth creation and a means of reducing the inevitable volatility that seems to be more prevalent than ever.

We find the start of a new year is a wonderful time to set new goals and aspirations then make them a reality. As always, we will continue to support you to set new goals, give you the confidence to act and make decisions that will increase the certainty of achieving what’s most important to you.

We trust you have a very enjoyable Christmas with family and friends and look forward to working with you in 2023 and sharing in your adventures.

Natalia attended the Financial Planning Association of Australia Professionals Congress 2022 last week in Sydney, after being a beneficiary of a scholarship offered by the FPA - which is a terrific achievement.

The FPA Professionals Congress provided the opportunity for like-minded professionals to share ideas and stories, and to take advantage of the many workshops and keynote sessions that help inform and inspire those working in the Financial Planning field.
Natalia made many new professional connections and has taken away new learnings that will support her future Financial Planning career.

Natalia’s key ‘take away’ points from the 2 days were:
1. The industry is fast changing with new technology becoming available and legislative changes and we need to be able to embrace this.
2. In order to be the best we can for our clients and for others, we must first be able to know ourselves and the behaviors and biases that we have towards our finances.
3. The population is living longer, and the real implications for this we are only starting to learn. Wealth and health are being tied together because, over a long life, those two really are key.

Terry had the pleasure to be invited by Andy Augustine from to the Werribee Race Club for a breakfast on Thursday morning to watch some of the imported horses going through their paces in preparation for the time honoured Melbourne Cup on the first Tuesday in November.

Terry was particularly impressed with the gallop of Deauville Legend who ran well over a lap and a half and looks very fit! (General Advice Only). 🐎🐎

A big congratulations to Natalia who this week graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction (Majoring in Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws Degree. 👩‍🎓
Natalia managed all of this while working part time and training for triathlons and marathons! What an outstanding effort. 😉

Natalia is now on a new journey studying a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning!

'Inspiration' and 'Fulfilment' are two of Wealth Built Right’s values, and Natalia’s amazing effort in completing her first Marathon on Sunday 2nd October encompasses both these values in spades.

Natalia set out to achieve a sub 4hr goal and she succeeded with a 3hr 58m (nonstop!) run. Well done Natalia! We are very proud of Natalia’s commitment to ‘setting a goal, striving for success and never giving up.' Please join us in congratulating her 🏃‍♀️👏🏅

Team Wealth Built Right had the great privilege of attending the Shartru Wealth 2022 National Conference in Cairns from the 19th-20th September.

The 2-day conference was filled with experienced speakers on topics such as strategies to best support SMSF clients, best practice in giving Risk Advice, Estate Planning, Investment Bonds and ‘The Shartru way moving forward’.

Terry and Natalia had the opportunity to collaborate and network with other Financial Planners and specialists. We also got to enjoy the company of talented (and humorous) Steven Bradbury as the keynote speaker. Steven shared his wisdom on the importance of goal setting, striving for success and ‘never giving up’.

Overall, both Terry and Natalia took away new learnings, new professional relationships, and the appreciation of working with Shartru Wealth; a professional and supportive dealer group who empower Wealth Built Right to focus more on what we do best…… giving quality advice and a great experience for our clients.

Natalia competed in another triathlon on the weekend; the Shepparton Challenge, taking out first place for her age group 🥇
The event consisted of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run, where Natalia even managed a 3 minute PB! 💥 Super effort Natalia! 🏊‍♀️🚴🏃‍♀️

On Sunday, Natalia competed in her first Triathlon; the Sandringham Triathlon, as part of the 2XU series. Natalia completed the 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run.

This year’s winner was Josh Oliver (pictured with Managing Director, Terry Powell). Terry represented Wealth Built Right and also managed a few good shots himself! (with the emphasis being on a “few”!😅)

The year of 2021 is one we will all remember for many years to come. The effect of the Corona Virus upon our daily lives was immense. From lockdowns to travel bans; for many of us the reality of our plans probably ended up very different to what we had set out to achieve.

With restrictions lifting now and borders reopening, we hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel with overseas and interstate travel again becoming a reality. We are sure many of you are looking forward to being re-united with loved ones in the not-too-distant future.

2021 has also been a year of change for us at Wealth Built Right. We bid farewell to Natalie and Roxie who have taken on new career opportunities. We changed our dealer group to Shartru Wealth, which is one of the nation’s most progressive boutique financial planning firms. This was an onerous task, but one that brings greater rigour and resources to our business resulting in better financial solutions for our clients. We also welcomed new clients to our team, who we are thrilled to continue working with in 2022.

We are thrilled to see in 2022 and will bring you up to date with some exciting new announcements.
As always, we will continue to support you to set new goals, give you the confidence to act and make decisions that will increase the certainty of achieving what’s most important to you.

Today is International Day of Friendship, so make sure you take the time to reach out to your friends - the people you choose to have in your tribe, to make sure they are doing ok.

We recently had Zach, Natalia's fur baby join us for a day in the office after he ate something he shouldn't have (oops!) and had to be closely monitored. It looks like Zach enjoyed the attention 😀
Thankfully Zach made a full recovery! ❤️🐶

Whilst in South Australia, I had the pleasure of catching up with Don and Jean Leske at Freeling, which is not far from the Barossa Valley.
Don and Jean are retired now but had been very successful farmers and built a trucking business which their son Paul manages in addition to the farm.
It was great to catchup up with Don and Jean face to face after so long.

During our recent trip to South Australia, I had the pleasure of catching up with clients Nic and Alexi Kentish in beautiful Hahndorf.
We grabbed a photo with Alexi and her horse Lenny who just won the South Australian Warmblood Horse Association award. He is now in the running for the national award. Good luck Lenny!

On a recent trip to catch up with clients in South Australia we had to go through a rigorous process of getting into the State followed by a Covid test.
Who should I run in to but my old mate Christopher Pyne who was only too pleased to join me for a ‘selfie’.

Our MD, Terry and his wife Nicole recently returned from holidaying in South Australia so we thought we’d share some of their travelogue with you...

"When we were in South Australia we went on a winery trip and ended up visiting Soul Growers Wines located in Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley where we met the chief winemaker Stuey Bourne. Stuey is the reigning Winemaker of the Year and is very passionate about the history of South Australia, the Barossa and of course his wines.

Soul Growers buy their grapes from multi-generational old-school grape growing families where binding contracts are based on a handshake, mutual respect and loyalty.

Stuey shared stories about the rich deep history of the Barossa including the evolution of new viticulture techniques that are water-wise, better soil conservation, improved soil health and increased bio-diversity. Nothing gets wasted in the wine-making process including using the left over refuse as stock feed.

Stuey’s passion was only matched by the quality of his wines where we signed up to a quarterly 6 pack to be delivered to our front door. Cant wait for the first delivery." 🍷🍇
