Peace and serenity walking the Barwon River cliff tops at sunrise, listening to the warble of our native magpie and the laughter in the distance of our native kookaburra.
Imagine if we were taught their language when we were children how it would open our eyes to the world in ways we never imagined 😍😘

Fun facts:

The Victorian heritage plate '2' was originally issued in 1910 and adorned the vehicles of the state's first two Governors General.

When the “Vic 1” number plate was released in 1932, the governor, premier and police commissioner argued over who should have it. In the end, nobody won! The plate was locked into a vault at the Motor Registration Board, then sold at auction in 1984.

November on the 11th hour of the 11th day

Marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of WWI

Over the past century this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who have served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts.

“Time will not dim the glory of their deeds.” It is up to us to make those words true, especially this.

Lest We Forget ✊🏻🇦🇺

That’s a wrap!

Bravery Trek 57klm challenge completed 🥾👊🏼🇦🇺😎

Todays finale was quite a cathartic experience for me indeed.

I invited Grandma Louise on a portion of the final leg of my journey to attend the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance,
to place a digital poppy on her fathers WWII service record certificate and role of honour.

We also viewed the
WWI Book of Remembrance
(safely under lock and key).
Inscribed within the pages,
is Louises, Uncle Tom’s name,
having served on the shores of Gallipoli & Egypt

Bravery Trek 🥾 challenge taught me many lessons along my journey,
of which I am for ever grateful

Whilst todays walk was a tad wet under foot , it certainly didn’t dampen my enthusiasm to continue to support our veteran community.

Last, but not least, a big heartfelt warm thank you, to all whom provided supportive words of encouragement, and/or chipped in and donated money towards Bravery Trust, thereby making a positive difference by
‘giving a hand up’
to our current Aussie veterans wounded in service.

Lest We Forget 🇦🇺✊🏻

Whilst hiking one of the many Great Ocean Road walking Tracks to support current Aussie vetrans injured during service for the Bravery Trust Trek challenge,
I was indeed fortunate to find a heavenly vantage point of the commencement of the full moon lunar eclipse 😍🥰

Ironically Ive been fortunate to unexpectedly hike to a location with heavenly vantage point of an eclipse of the moon 😍🥰

You’ve still got time to jump on board to throw some money in the hat to support our current Aussie serving veterans injured during service

Bravery Trust trek continued:

You Yangs Lara - Wurdi Youang

So, the plan was to drive to the base and hike to Flinders Peak at the top of the You Yangs in preparation for sunset, alas vehicle access ceases at 1800hrs. 🤦‍♀️
Not deterred , I hoofed it from the main gates up the winding road to the base of the You Yangs.

Time wouldn’t permit me to reach the pinnacle in time, so huffing and puffing , dripping wet, whilst being attacked and almost carried away by mozzies, I found a rock pool jutting out from the rugged bush to rest and enjoy the setting sun over our stunning landscape

Walking back down the winding roads , with the full moon rising over the crest of the You Yangs behind me through the misty sky rising , gave me enormous peace.

Captivated listening to the Australian bush come alive with the orchestra of native life, and the occasional unmistakable pounding of Kangaroo moving effortlessly, was indeed breathtaking.

You Yangs Regional Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Wadawurrung People.

We respect the deep and continuing connection that Wadawurrung Traditional Owners have to these lands and waters, and recognise their ongoing role in caring for Country

The name “You Yangs” comes from the Aboriginal words Wurdi Youang or Ude Youang which could have any number of meanings: “big mountain in the middle of a plain”, “big or large hill”, or “bald”.
The Aboriginal community of Wathaurong have camped and hunted on the open, grassy plains for thousands of years.

The You Yangs Ranges are not the remains of a volcano. More than 400 million years ago, the area now known as the Western Volcanic Plains was under the sea. The You Yangs granite solidified about 365 million years ago.

Two days left to jump on board to help out and lend a hand to our current return veteran.

Bravery Trust Hike continued:

Anakie Gorge Walk - Brisbane Ranges National Park

It is named after 'The Anakies' - three hills that overlook Staughton Vale town which has a population of some 400 people.

To walk back in time you only need to walk a short distance into Anakie Gorge.

The Brisbane Ranges plateau was once, about 500 million years ago, submerged under an inland sea and the layers of sediment deposited on the seabed eventually compacted into slate and sandstone. The area became exposed over the years and under pressure about a million years ago the land east of the Rowsley Fault that extends from about Bacchus Marsh to Geelong began to sink (Port Phillip Sunkland). The result was an impressive escarpment. Rivers like Little River and StonyCreek eroded deep valleys through the escarpment as they moved down to what is now Port Phillip Bay. Today we can clearly see the layers of ancient rock in the Anakie Gorge formed by Stony Creek.

PS Take the mozzie repellent , 🦟 the mongrels are bloody vicious 👹
