Sad news from out the Geelong Falcons.

Vale, Kevin.

The Coates Talent League and Victorian talent pathways communities mourn the passing of Kevin Evans.

Kevin was a long-serving and much-loved member of the Victorian talent pathway who dedicated more than 30 years’ service across a range of roles, most notably as football trainer.

He commenced with the Bendigo Pioneers in the early 1990s before relocating to the Gippsland area and working with the Gippsland Power.

Kevin was a key member of the Victoria Country under-18 program since 2017 and in recent years served as head trainer of the Geelong Falcons.

His caring and warm nature will be missed by all who worked with him.

Our thoughts are with Kevin's family, friends and members of the Victorian talent pathway.

Some sad news in the local football world, with the passing of 1988 Les Ash medallist Dean McNeill after a battle with illness.

McNeill claimed the medal in his second stint at Queenscliff having finished runner-up to Torquay’s Mark Browne in 1986 while playing with St Leonards, who were winless that year.

He also won best-and-fairest awards with the Coutas and Saints.

McNeill coached St Leonards in their final season when in the GDFL.

Former Geelong and Carlton player Billie Smedts will join Geelong & District Football Netball League club Thomson Tigers

Had been rumoured since October - this image obtained by K rock Football looks to confirm it.

It will be Smedts’ second club in the region having previously played at Leopold in 2018.

He spent 2023 with Port Melbourne Colts in the Southern League.
