NEW PROJECT 📢

Harwood Andrews lawyers will this year be opening a new state of the art office at 70 Gheringhap Street, Geelong. Lyons Construction will be completing these building works, that provide modern facilities, with efficient configurations and services for back of house. Front of house will include a new reception, waiting areas and private meeting rooms.

This projects modern design has been created by WMK Architecture and the project will be administered by the experienced Joe Daly of Daly Consult.

Farmhouse Kinder at Good News Lutheran College in Tarneit has been officially opened by the Hon Dylan Wight the Member for Tarneit and Bishop Lester Priebbenow for the Lutheran Church of Australia.

Project Value Range of $3m to $4m.

Clifton Springs Primary School has been officially opened by the Hon Ben Carroll the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education along with the Hon Alison Marchant the Member for Bellarine.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our Lyons Construction team!

Spread across 7,500 square metres, The Geelong College's new Wellness Centre is the largest job in Lyons Construction history to date.

Here it is in progress from a few different angles, highlighting the variety of materials used, with special mention to the incredible curved feature brick walls.

We're very excited to have a new team member joining us, and she just so happens to share the Lyons name. She has been hanging around since she was born, so knows her way around. Being the eldest Granddaughter of Norm, we're hoping we may get a few extras visitors from the great man in the office.

We're thrilled to be welcoming Lily into the fold in a part-time capacity within the Marketing and Communications team and can't wait to introduce you all to her onsite soon.

We had a great morning at GMHBA Stadium for the Geelong Chamber of Commerce Investment & Infrastructure Outlook Breakfast discussing insights into the significant infrastructure development poised to transform Geelong over the next few years.

Lyons Construction is elated to have secured the refurbishment of 68 – 70 Gheringhap St; spacious double-storey offices in Geelong’s CBD. Working together with our repeat client, Up Property and architects, Made For. Lyons Construction will lead the transformation of the office building on Gheringhap St, converting the new space ready for fit-out in 2024.

The Gheringhap St building refurbishment for Up Property, has been thoughtfully designed by Made For. with the site’s history determining the design trajectory for the building. Spanning across more than 3300 square metres, this incredible space boasts prime CBD positioning with outstanding natural light and bay views.

Each year, the Give Where You Live Foundation has been running the Feed Geelong Appeal, a campaign designed to bring awareness to the critical issue of food security in our region and raise vital funds to ensure no one in our region goes without food.

On Friday 20 October, Lyons Construction and the crew working at The Geelong College proudly rallied together to support this important cause. Our collective efforts resulted in a generous donation of $2,115!

We’d like to extend our thanks to other local businesses who helped us achieve this. A massive shout out to the generous team at Construct Personnel who provided a delicious BBQ lunch, and several businesses in the Geelong region kindly contributed raffle prizes to further bolster the fundraising efforts.

Last week we celebrated Gary's retirement in true Gary style; casual, minimal fuss, but surrounded by family, great friends, colleagues and of course, good food.

Thank you to everyone who came to recognise Gary's incredible 46 years at Lyons Construction.

It is with bittersweet emotions that today, we announce the retirement of Gary Iacono from Lyons Construction after a remarkable 46 year journey.

Gary’s association with Lyons Construction began in 1977 when he was just 16 years old. He was introduced to the company through his father, John Iacono who was a valued member of the Lyons Construction team and would also later go on to clock up 16 years service.

As we look back on Gary's career, we celebrate not only his remarkable tenure but also the legacy he leaves behind. His unwavering commitment, adaptability, and leadership have played a pivotal role in the company’s success. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Gary on this well-deserved milestone, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours and spending more time with his family. With all the buildings in Geelong and our region that he has been involved in, he has truly helped shape Geelong. His legacy will continue to inspire Lyons Construction and the construction industry for years to come.

Gary’s last day in the office will be Thursday 28th of September. We are very pleased that Gary will remain as a Director and member of the Board. Please join us in wishing Gary all the best in this transition to life in retirement.

We are a proud partner of Building Careers Geelong; a collaborative initiative that aims to inspire and inform students about the benefits and opportunities in the Building and Construction Industry. Norm Lyons was one of the founders of this long-standing initiative over 10 years ago.

Last week we took another 55 students through on of our sites, including a hands-on demonstration with Caruso Bricklaying Pty. Ltd. and their apprentice, Will who successfully gained an school-based apprenticeship through the BCG site tour.

In 2023 alone, the Building Careers Geelong team has hosted 170 secondary students from 18 Geelong schools on the Construction Site Tour Industry Immersion. Thursday saw the final group enjoy a day visiting a commercial and residential site with pizza lunch, career overviews and pathway information from a diverse range of industry people.

Thanks to our BCG partners Hamlan Homes, Caruso Bricklaying, Geelong Built, Geelong Region LLEN and The Gordon and to Master Builders Association of Victoria for their ongoing support and to Barwon Timber and Hardware and Mitre 10 Geelong for the amazing prizes.

Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads out there, today is all about celebrating you and the irreplaceable role you play in our lives.

Whether you're a dad, stepdad, grandfather or father figure, here's to the early mornings, late nights and all the moments in between that make being a father so remarkable.

We had the pleasure of hosting Saint Ignatius College Geelong student, Taryn Hall for Structured Workplace Learning for the past five weeks. Taryn found out about Lyons Construction through the Building Careers Geelong site tour, meeting our Marketing and Communications Manager.

Here, Taryn leapt into the Marketing world, visiting sites, creating social media content, writing blog posts, analysing trends and data and meeting the wider Lyons team. She was eager, proactive, enthusiastic and a joy to have in our team, albeit briefly.

We wish Taryn all the best for her future studies and hope to see her join the construction industry soon.

Above ground, students will be able to enjoy two basketball/netball courts meeting International competition standard and viewing from tiered spectator seating.

The main building will provide the school with new classrooms, a multi-purpose room overlooking Mackie Oval, staff offices, change facilities and a weights and conditioning space.

These incredible photos were taken back in June, with thanks to the school. It's amazing what can happen in a few short weeks!
