Mental Health Professionals, we need you on platforms with full access to your services.
I found out today that this company uses a platform for online therapy with no access to captions. Captions are sometimes the only way Deaf/Hard of Hearing people or people with disabilities that require support in a written context have any access to Mental Health services. Some examples of other people who benefit from captions are- ADHD, ASD, Auditory Processing Disorder.
This means access denied.

Unfortunately for Deaf/HH who use Auslan only, the NRS does not work for us in a crisis! Deaf/HH also have crisis out of hours and on public holidays, just like hearing people do.

Video Relay calls are only available 7am to 6pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm Saturday. Video Relay calls are also not available on national public holidays.

The 1800RESPECT service and website is accessible to anyone living in Australia.

NEWS- I am an ACA registered level 3 Counsellor using Auslan. The ACA (Australian Counselling Association) just released News about free interpreting services FIS 7 days a week 24/7! for eligible local government areas, which include GC, Logan and Brisbane and other states as well. Many languages on the website, but NO Auslan. 😡 Again the Deaf Community is left out especially when we need more Mental Health Practitioners in our Community. For more Info and to complain.
