This is Harry and Albert who brought in their own pocket money to donate to other kids who need a feed.
Yes you read that right!!!!
These kids did this on their own ❤️ 🥰 🤗

These small humans have hearts bigger than most and it is amazing to see things like this happening in our store. Harry and Albert are great examples of what community really means.

The hungry tickets from the children are down low on the window because they are kids so let the other kids collect them and join in on the fun of it all.

When you guys are old enough I will give you jobs in any of our stores or food trucks any day of the week. Tell your parents to save this photo and attach it to your resume 💯

His name is Arlo and he wanted to be a part of the Hungry Tickets by donating a kids meal for another kid to eat dinner just like him 🥰

Arlo wanted to put the ticket on the window himself for another kid to collect which is why it is hanging so low down. It is kids like this that are awesome little humans.

We get asked many questions when we run specials so I have some answers below to help -

Q. What fish is it? - A. The fish will change throughout the day based on what is available but will include any of our available options North Queensland Barramundi, Farmed Basa, New Zealand Hoki, Local Whiting, Local Flathead, Local Dory

Q. Can I choose my own fish? - A. Yes you can pay extra to upgrade your fish as per any other day

Q. Can I buy this online ? - A. Yes you can order online for pick up through our website

Q. Can I pre order on the phone? - A. Yes we accept phone orders however please be aware that during busy periods we will stop answering the phone to attend to customers in store

Q. Can I get grilled? A. Yes you can for an extra charge per piece grilled

Q. When is this available? A. This is a new special that is available every Friday from 11am - 8pm

We do these specials to give back to the community and do our best to provide quality and quantity for affordable prices. Please don’t over complicate it by asking a million questions as we don’t always have the time to respond in a timely manner and our staff answering the phone are generally children who are still learning about the birds and the bees so they don’t know where a fish comes from or how things are made, they are good on the iPads and great with customer service but they are not google.

😷Throwback to when we were supplying food to the people locked in hotels by the police 🤦‍♂️ our staff had to make fun of the situations and left little notes and even free chocolates and lollies inside for the customers 😂😂. It was this period that launched us in the online delivery world….. about the only good thing to come from that period

Today is a sad day…….

We have done our best over the past couple of years to ensure we keep our prices low and affordable for our customers and in the time we have been open since 2021 we have not raised any menu item price regardless of the multiple price increases from our suppliers.

It is with great pain that we announce effective 21st August 2024 we will be charging a card service charge to all card payments in store.

This service charge is 1.6% which is the same rate at which it costs us to process the payment. We do not and are not legally allowed to charge over the amount we are charged so we are only passing on the minimum amount.

It was either we do this or we change our menu prices and I have worked very hard to ensure we don’t do that working very closely with our suppliers to keep our prices the same as the day we opened unlike every other business around who changes their menu price every 6 months.

The 1.6% surcharge may seem small and insignificant and we agree that to one transaction it isn’t much. Will set you back a few cents more on a fish and chips but with the amount of card payments we take on a weekly basis we are spending the equivalent to most people’s rent amount per week in fees from the bank 😮

So….. how will this affect you?

If you pay cash it won’t, and you will still receive our 10% discount for all cash payments 💯

If you order online through our Spencer’s Seafood website for pick up you won’t be charged the surcharge fee on top ✅ (this is the best way)

If you pay with your card in store the 1.6% will be automatically applied at the counter by our point of sale and the screen will show you what it’s costing you.

There will be clear signage in store from tonight and any transaction that attracts a surcharge will be clearly displayed on the customer display screen on the point of sale for transparency 💯

I really hope that everyone can understand we did not want to make this decision but 1.6% on card transactions or raising our menu prices were the two options on the table. I am thinking we chose the right way to do this.

We are looking for juniors to fill these positions -

Counter / Cashier
Packing / wrapping
Runner / order sorting

Ideally suited to students as shifts are after school and weekends

Please note that we will only accept students in year 9 or above for these roles.

4.30pm - 8.30pm Monday to Friday shifts
11.00am - 8.30pm Saturday / Sunday shifts
(Weekend shifts are availability hours required)

In our previous store Milkshakes were a big hit, like a little too big so much so that I made a deal with the missus that we wouldn’t do them in the new shop until we had enough staff to cover the extra workload… (probably would have been a divorce if she had to make another one 😂😂😂)

P.S —— if you know of someone with experience working in a milk bar or on the counter who is looking for work tell them to come and see us about a job, I have a feeling we are going to need more staff soon.
