I have started a new blog on my website Tilgner Art. The first article is about what sparked the idea for a calendar to raise money for Fight 4 Flight. Check it out ☺️ https://www.tilgnerart.com/news/supportforfight4flight
Fight 4 Flight N.Q. Birds of Prey Out now 🙂
Love this!! Love your work Fight for Flight.
Sneak peak ... I have finished off a set of 12 illustrations to create a calendar for 2025. Next steps ... test print, website wrangling and to confirm some details for a little fundraising project. More to be revealed very soon 🦅
Work in progress ... A little more to do on the sitting bird and then it is the final fussing phase 😉
Done 🙂 Australian raven in charcoal.
Here we go ... layout sketch done.
I visited the Brisbane Portrait Prize at the State Library yesterday. This exhibit includes paintings, photographs and digital artworks. Here are some paintings that caught my eye. I love seeing them up close and studying the artist's marks. David Paulson's technique is fascinating ... he has painted Rosella's skin so smoothly that it glows. When you look up close her features are defined by strong course lines. The overall effect is an amazingly realistic portrait. Congratulations to all the finalists. Artist credits in captions.
This rainbow bee-eater was a very busy bee-eater. Lucky for me it paused long enough for a quick pic. Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island, Queensland.
I love the haunting cries of bush stone-curlews. For me, their calls signify holidays and island time. Charcoal and watercolour painting.
I had the perfect light to capture the straw-necked ibis' beautiful iridescent sheen. Horseshoe Bay Lagoon, Magnetic Island.
I took these photos on Magnetic Island, Queensland. I love how the dead branches frame the ravens. Here's a quick sketch, playing with the composition. When I get back to the studio I want to do a bigger version.
On holidays, time for art 😍
Progressing my charcoal drawing of Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain (Tasmania). This is the largest charcoal drawing I have attempted at 48x70 cm. Still lots to do.
Tree appreciation 😍. Binna Burra, Lamington National Park, Daves Creek Circuit. Queensland National Parks
Just finished the 10-week pottery wheel course at Firebird Studios. Loved it, Marcia is a fantastic instructor. Here's my haul, all glazed and ready for their final firing. The colours you see here will completely transform. Can't wait to see the results.
Opening night tonight!! Whoohoo. 5-7pm at One Arts Gold Coast, Isle of Capri, Gold Coast. Drop in for a glass of bubbles 🥂
Just received my order of greeting cards. So happy with how these turned out. Limited stock available for purchase at opening night at our Cluster Flock Art Exhibition.
Kookaburras are such an iconic Australian bird. Had to draw one for the exhibition. One week to go, opening night next Saturday. See comments for details.
A kook, a butcher and a couple of miners walk into a bar. They were laughing, singing and being very noisy until ... 🤣 Needs a funny punch line. .. suggestions? I do have a soft spot for kookaburras and butcher birds, not so much the noisy miners 😬 Inspo for recent charcoal drawing.
This is Tar (I think that's her name), one of the Brolgas at . The park hosts a daily bird show where you can see Tar and other birds up close and learn about the park's conservation programs. This charcoal drawing will be on display at the Cluster Flock Art Exhibition.
This little black cormorant will be on display at the Cluster Flock Art Exhibition, opening soon. This is my first exhibition, in cahoots with , and I am very excited to be presenting my bird drawings.
