One of my hardest times breastfeeding was when Isla was just 4 weeks old.

She caught RSV off Isaac, which quickly developed into Bronchiolitis.

She was so tiny, and here we were at the Royal Children's Hospital in Sydney, hooked up to continuous oxygen and feeding via nasogastric tube.

We'd barely started breastfeeding, nowhere near having it nicely established between the two of us.

I was sharing an electric pump between myself and three other mothers on the ward, so getting a full session in every 3 hours was near impossible.

Instead, pumping sessions stretched out to 4, sometimes 5 hourly.

My supply very quickly dwindled.

The stress of the whole situation didn't help.

As a mother, breastfeeding my kids has been one of, if not THE most challenging aspects so far.

There were things I loved about it.

💕The closeness of the cuddles.
💕The feeling of their soft warm skin against mine. 💕Knowing I could comfort my babes through anything.

But there was far more I disliked about it.

Actually dislike feels too nondescript, and doesn't really cut it for me. 'Hated and and thought it could EAD' is far more accurate.

Things like:

⚡️The enduring pain (thanks, Raynauds).
⚡️The whole body shakes, aches & pains of mastitis.
⚡️The painful blocked ducts.
⚡️Engorged breasts that felt like they might explode. ⚡️The leaking through clothes.

For 6 weeks with Isaac.
Then 14 months with both my girls.

While it was all still raw for me, too often looked back and felt like I'd somehow 'failed' with Isaac, in my mind I 'only' made it to 6 weeks.

In hindsight, I'm damn proud of myself for all I was able to do, against the odds.

But especially for having the knowledge (& support) to STOP trying to feed Isaac when it was clear it was playing a starring role in my spiraling mental health at the time.

When it comes to tea, you might be surprised that there is actually a huge difference between organic vs conventional farming methods. Investigations have found pesticides and other additives in some produce even though they claimed the opposite!

OMG YES!!!

Lately I’ve been enjoying my days at home where I consciously decide I don’t want to do or go anywhere so, so much.

I used to be so go-go-go, being busy felt like something to strive for, that I’d really get down on myself for taking time out.

I’d feel bad for not getting the kids out that day & ‘entertaining’ them.

I’d have moments where I felt like a lazy slob for not wanting to do a single damn thing.

The truth is, neither of those statements were true.

Letting the kids get a little bored sometimes allows their imaginations to run wild. I hear footsteps and laughter as they run around the house playing the new game they’ve just created.

Sometimes they even ask to stay home over the weekend so they can just play together. right there!

And, I’ve never been a lazy slob.

I’m a ‘Get S**t Done!’ Aries ♈️ woman that needs the odd day here and there to do sweet stuff all beyond recharging the battery 🪫

And peppering a little time just for me in my day to day has been the best way to level my energy and motivation.

Just 10 minutes for me (lately with a hot cup of Immune Elixir in hand).
