What a gorgeous centrepiece! We fell completely in love with this mirror during the recent installation of this sophisticated Dry Bar. The lower cabinetry itself features painted white 2pac with J-Pull doors and the upper cabinets have been specially fitted with bevel-edged, tempered glass to complement the bevel of the mirror's edge. Surprisingly there are a dozen different ways to open a door and lately, we’ve noticed everyone is loving the handleless options. If you’re interested in going handleless on your next project but you’re not sure what your options are then you’re about to find out ⬇️ Here are a few options for you to mull over:

J Pulls - Shaped as per their namesake like the letter ‘J’ these front panels have an integrated handle that gives your cabinetry a streamlined, upmarket look with the added bonus of being easy to clean. We recommend pairing with soft-close internal hardware.

Bevel/Chamfer/Sharknose - These fronts have a bevelled edge on top that tapers down towards the interior of the cabinet that you can slip your fingers behind to open your doors or drawers. They add a sleek finish to any cabinetry and are also easy to clean. Insets are similar but with a square edge on top.

Push to open - There is no easier way to open a door than with one that does all the work 👌 you give it a push and it pops out on its own. Push to open uses a small, concealed mechanism that responds to mild pressure. This is a great option for overhead cabinetry in our opinion.

Overhang - Another great option for overhead cabinets that are completely tucked away. Behind the door, there is a recessed groove that the front panel of the cabinet overlaps to create a handle that you can slide your fingers into to open the cabinet.

When it comes to designing your new kitchen, it is so important to consider the way that you currently use the space you have and how you would like to be able to use it in the future. Planning for your lifestyle and the way you use the space will make your new kitchen feel as perfect as it looks!

Layout - All things begin and end with the layout of the kitchen. Think about how you move between points. Ideally, there should be no obstruction between the cutting area, cooktop, sink and bins. This allows for easy food prep and reduces cooking time. Having the fridge and condiments close by also helps.

Appliances - Which appliances do you use the most? Which part of the kitchen do you use them in? This is important to consider because it can make life that little bit easier if they can be stored close to the space they are used, or if certain appliances live on the benchtop but are a bit of an eyesore then there are plenty of contemporary ways to close them in when you have last minute guests.

Storage - Optimising your kitchen storage space can be tricky but there are plenty of pull-out pantries, pull-out corner runners and other hardware to help make every nook and cranny accessible. You can also opt to make an island a little deeper if you have the space to add touch-to-open doors with shelving to the face of it. This is most important when you entertain and use occasional serving ware that you want to keep neatly tucked away but easily accessible.

Stone bench tops are a beautiful edition to any new kitchen or room renovation. There are many different types though and it’s important to choose the right stone for your chosen aesthetic and lifestyle.

🌟CONSIDER
If you’re looking for stone for a high-wear area, where there are lots of colourful spices, juices, chemicals and cutting, then it is best to opt for a stronger, less porous stone as it is less inclined to scratch, stain or harbour bacteria. Or if the stone is going onto a display top in a living or media room, or perhaps into your walk in robes, then you can really choose whichever stone best creates the aesthetic you’re trying to achieve.

🌈COLOUR
It is important to note that some dark/black stone tops particularly in glossy finishes will show scratches more readily than their lighter counterparts, so it’s important to take this into account in rooms like the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms that are high use areas.

🍳COOKING
When you’re in the kitchen you’ll definitely be handling hot pots and pans at some point so it’s important to know the amount of thermal resistance that your chosen stone has, and have buffers like cork mats or cast iron stands ready to place your pans on instead if necessary. This may also be an important note if you use heated hair styling tools in bathrooms so that you don’t leave them cranked-up, directly on the bench.

Raise your hand if you’d like more storage space in your laundry 🖐 If your hand is up, you’re a part of the majority. Most laundries come standard with a stand-alone laundry sink and zero storage. A laundry is such a great room to add storage to because it normally has extra space to capitalise on. Depending on your layout you could add overheads, tall cupboards and maybe extra lower cupboards. Sometimes it isn't even about upgrading the storage, sometimes your laundry just needs a re-face and stone bench top to elevate its aesthetics. So no matter what you need here are a few tips to think about when you upgrade your laundry ✨

1. Function First - There’s no point in worrying about the colour or profile just yet. The first thing to consider when renewing your laundry should be how you want to use the space. The laundry is one of the main-use rooms in the house and should at least have a sink, washing machine, dryer, bench space for folding and some storage for laundry products and tools. If you have the extra space think about whether you could use a little extra hanging space for drying, a space to iron or steam, or even some extra storage for household cleaning products.
2. Applicable Appliances - Once you know what you want to fit into the room, start to design the layout around your largest appliances first. If you already have your washing machine and dryer then take their measurements and if you’re thinking of purchasing new appliances be sure to check their specifications. Next consider the sink - What type is it? How wide is it? Once you have those settled think about where an iron, electric lint remover, vacuum and other appliances and electrical elements would best fit into your space. Be prepared to prioritise if needed.
3. Clean Colours - When choosing your benchtop, cabinets and tiles it is best to go for a neutral palette for longevity. If you really would love a pop of colour though and you’re not likely to change your mind anytime soon then by all means use it to brighten up your work space. Lighter colours will show dirty marks more readily which will make it easier to see if you’ve missed a spot while cleaning.
