Come to The Haunted Passage Entrapment tonight or on Halloween from 6-9pm for roving performers, scare actors, horror soundscape by DJ producer BadAss, Your Mates Haunt Bar and the main attraction the Haunted Maze, amongst the lane’s traders, for one hell of a good night!

This has to be the most exciting news for the Gold Coast Entertainment Industry in 2023!

Gold Coast Arts and Culture and Southport Downtown are thrilled to host THE DOWNTOWN SOUND! A week-long celebration of the GC's first-ever Entertainment Precinct zoning, spanning from November 13th through the 19th.

Expect a week filled with incredible music, dancing, food, and culture. With a total of three venues, seven stages, and over 200 performers, this event promises to be one block party to remember. There will be a wide variety of genres for everyone to enjoy, from Soul and Latin to House, Hip Hop, Punk, and Hardcore!

Stay tuned for the amazing lineup of local, national, and international acts, which will be released in the coming days via the partnered social links below.

We are so excited about the opportunity to activate yet another crazy masked alias into our Respect Music family!

Let me introduce you to BADASS! A dark figure that nurtures the sounds of breaks and drum and bass!

BADASS will be coming to Cavill Lane and performing a spookier then normal set of breaks, dnb and house from 6-9pm October 27th, 28th, 29th and 31st as a part of “The Haunted Passage - Entrapment” Activation!

Come in your scariest outfit and head down to Cavill Lane for an immersive Halloween experience to alter every sense from audio and visual FX, roving characters, live entertainment and our Haunted Maze! Among your experience visit themed pop-up stalls, & eat and drink till your heart's content.

Really excited to be involved in this project with Cavil Lane Surfers Paradise. Watch this space!!! As we work tirelessly on something very unique here at Respect Music, the creation of a new production alias and character by the name of BAD ASS!

We are creating this character from the ground up and immersing it in the sound of Breaks and D'n'B and for this particular installment of "The Haunted Passage" we shall be curating and performing live the slightly nastier and scarier soundscape of Halloween.

This Friday catch Respect Music aka James Canning and DJ ANGE P on the ones and twos at Nineteen from 6.30pm till 1am!

Then on Saturday catch Simmer aka Andrea Tenille at Garden Kitchen Bar from 8pm till 11pm bringing you those soulful lounge vibes.

"A posse cut is a popular form of song in hip hop music that involves successive verses by four or more rappers."

Has there been a Gold Coast Posse Cut? We are sure there has been many, but I guarantee that this will be a first of its kind!

On August the 12th The winning beat from the beat making category of our event, will be juggled live for the first ever all inclusive "Gold Coast Posse Cut".

Each MC will be given 16 bars to showcase their skills and style. The topic guide for the MC'S is to rhyme about:

* Their personal relationship with Hip Hop
* Gold Coast
* Love, Respect and Music
* 50 years of Hip Hop
* Any or all of the subcultures of Hip Hop (Graffiti, Writers, Breaking, Beat Making, Djing, Low riders, MC'S, Beat Boxers)
* Collaboration and Community
* Music Family
* Use the term "Respect The Technique"

We also ask that MC'S use minimal, if any profanities, with consideration of this being a family friendly community event and being broadcast worldwide!

Huge week on the tools, kicking things off on Thursday from 11pm on “Raiders Of The Lost Art” episode 47 with an all vinyl set.

Then Friday night I will be throwing down at Last Night On Earth with some hip hop vibes as a warm up for our 50 year celebration “Respect The Technique”.

Saturday I will be back at Last Night On Earth bring a mash up of Black and Latin Music to the dance floor for another episode of Freestyle!

Then Sunday the wife and I are doing some back to back sets, as a part of the aptly titled James St Festival in Brisbane. Simmer will be on the Vibe stage from 10am till 12.30pm, while I will be on the Central stage from 10am till 12.30pm as Respect Music and we will be doing back 2 back from 12.30pm till 3pm. Big shout and love to our fam at Soul Has No Tempo for this amazing opportunity to drop some disco house heat for the Brisbane peeps!
