This week is Queensland Child Protection Week so on Saturday the A BODY 2 FIT crew will be coming out in support of Bravehearts ๐ at the Varsity Lakes parkrun.
All children and their families should feel protected and supported from sexual harm and harrassment so throw on your A BODY 2 FIT gear this Saturday morning at 7am, strap on our purple arm band (we'll bring those along) or wear the infamous purple tutu ๐...and join us in support of "Queensland Child Protection Week."
Afterwards we'll enjoy some coffee nearby, some yummy food and some chitter chatter with friends ๐๐
Feel free to bring your family and friends along, join the community in an amazing community walk or run and show your support for keeping our community free from sexual harm.
** Please remember that all children under 10 years must run or walk with an adult.
7th in the World for Leigh Miller at her very first World's Sprint Duathlon Championships!
Such an amazing result for Leigh, an epic experience in front of her amazing family, and friends and what better backdrop then the beautiful Townsville Strand, to complete your first World's event ๐๐ด๐๐๐๐ด
So super proud of you Leigh...you put absolutely everything into this campaign and your family rallied behind you 100%. This is what Multisport Triathlon and Duathlon can bring to so many families and your family have shown just that....so inspiring. ๐๐
Looking forward to many more races together (I'll do Spain if you do Wollongong ? ๐คฃ)
Deal?
So I've been keeping this one under wraps for a bit, but with her last training session completed today and the race of her life kicking off at 10am Friday....I am stoked to bring you this week's "Get a Look at This" in the one and only Leigh Miller - aka Weapon and Smiling Assassin ๐ชโญ
On April 18th last yr whilst lying in hospital after hand surgery I was a tad drugged up ๐ on pain killers when I saw a message come through on my phone from this woman who wanted me to teach her how to ride a bike properly and run fast ๐คฃ
As I lay there with my drip in, hand bandaged and bleary eyesight, I immediately thought....hmmmm this woman sounds just like the inspiring athlete I need...but, I only have one hand for a few weeks, but she doesn't know that, right! ๐คฃ๐คฃ I couldn't let this coaching opportunity slip by, so I organised to meet her for coffee and a chat two days later.
No longer had we sat down and I soon discovered that she was a mum of three young kids, had just gone out and bought a bike and given a Duathlon a crack in Brisbane without any specific training....and to make it even better, she had discovered that she absolutely loved it, and wanted a trainer because she wanted to represent Australia at World's Duathlon and "wear the Green n Gold baby" yes that's what she said ๐คฃ
๐๐๐๐ด๐
All of 5 feet nothing to her, a smile beaming from ear to ear and energy like I hadn't seen in a chick for a long time...I immediately thought...."this chick is as crazy as I am ๐, I reckon we are going to make a great team....let's do it!
First session I put her through her paces and hit her with 3 X 1km intervals...hard core, no whinging, she smashed that set out and was looking for more! ๐๐ช
Over the past 16 months Leigh has gone from strength to strength, a new bike added to the equation, her running speed has been blown off the track and the power of this 'Fun Size' chick on the bike just blows me away.
In 16 mths she has even finished an individual triathlon with us (she hates swimming ๐), she and I have won many gold medals together in team Triathlons and she has even conquered a 21 km half marathon whilst finishing off our Team in the "Tweed Enduro" event with myself and the assassin, Zoe Wogan.
There have been many lollie teeth moments running down the finish chute together, long ride sugar top ups, signature claws moments, medals and just belly laughs all round. ๐
In qualifying for World's Sprint Duathlon to race in Townsville this Friday, Leigh completed four qualifying events...with each one she just got stronger and faster all whilst being an amazing mum to three young children, wife, daughter and grandaughter!
Leigh, I am so glad you came into my life that day as I lay in hospital. You have been the most inspiring person to coach and every accolade you have earned along the way, every hurdle you have had to navigate (and there have been many ๐) and the powerful athleticism you now have within you, is full credit to your strength, tenacity, courage to never give up and will to always expect 100% from yourself.
The thing I love most about you and what I'm so proud of you for is the way you just can't wait to get out there to train and racing to you is like your biggest reward and fun day! ๐ Always a huge smile on your face...just pumped ready to go after it!
You are an inspiration to your family, an amazing role model to your kids and just one of the most funniest hard core chicks I've ever coached.
Thanks for choosing 'lil ole me to get you to the start line in your GREEN & GOLD ๐๐
Go get 'em Weapon....I'm so damm proud of you, the Lollie teeth are waiting and I expect the signature CLAW celebration down the finish chute! ๐ค ๐
๐๐ด๐โญ
This week's "Get a Look at This" is Miss Consistency, hard working, and very funny, Lilly Carr ๐๐ชโญ
As a past and exceptionally talented basketball player, Lilly has an amazing work ethic towards training and over the last couple of months she has shown a consistency to interval sets and her training on a whole that you don't find in every athlete.
Lilly messaged me whilst I was in Central America back in April, expressing her interest to develop her fitness as a runner. Well, I didn't have to think long about this one...I jumped at the opportunity to work with this very talented athlete as I knew she would definitely reap the benefits of an effective training plan due to her tenacity to achieve. ๐ช
Over the last two months Lilly has already shaved minutes off her 5km PB and even took it out with the big guns at the GC30 back in May.
Lilly's focus towards training and completing our one-on-one training sets is always just taken in her stride. She often tells me "I'm stressed" ๐คฃ about the set I give her, but I never see it...she just gets on with it, executes exactly what I lay down for the day or sometimes even better. ๐ช๐
Lilly is currently training for the 5km event at the Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival and after what she produced today in our training session I know she is on track for an amazing result! She is on ๐ฅ
Congrats Lilly on your results and improvements thus far...your relaxed, carefree, but tenacious attitude makes you an absolute pleasure to coach. I genuinely look forward to all our training sessions, your hard core attitude and the laughs we share in the process.
As you can see from the pics...Lilly doesn't have a problem laughing at herself, and to me that is a very important attribute ๐คฃโ
This week's "Get a Look at This" is the amazing, strong, funny and hard working Jacqueline Rothfork Wogan
I have to be honest and say that Jacqueline was inspired to start training and triathlon with me by her amazing daughter, Zoe who came into the sport with us 6 months prior to Jacqueline....you may say that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" in this case ๐ช๐
Over the last 12 months Jacqueline has gone from a size 16 to a size 10....From Size XL to Medium and lost a total of 19 kilograms
Jacqueline competed in her very first triathlon at Raby Bay completing a 300m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run at Raby Bay. After another charity team event at Kingscliff Triathlon and from this point it was like we 'created a monster' so to speak and the level of dedication and determination went up another level ๐
Her first Duathlon was in Brisbane and her biggest fitness challenge to date, after telling me she was never doing that again ๐....here she is lined up for an even longer distance Duathlon in Toowoomba in just one month's time.
Since taking up running Jacqueline has taken 8 mins off her 5km time and she has completed several running events including the 5km of GC50 and just recently the 7.5k of GC30.
An absolute inspiration to coach...our sessions are not just challenging and rewarding, but always fun and a laugh to be had no matter what I dish up in the training session ๐๐คฃ๐๐๐ช
When I asked Jacqueline what she had achieved since starting with us, this was her answer....
"I need a whole new wardrobe but some are expensive such as 12 pairs of Lululemon trousers which cost me a lot of money, each bought over the course of a year! Heartbreaking but they look like a potato sack on me!"
To me... I'd say she's winning and she totally deserves another 12 pairs of SIZE 10 pants and lunch with the coach ๐ her shout ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Congrats on your amazing achievements Jacqueline...your dedication, determination and integrity shines through in all of your children...best role model, super mum and strong business woman ๐โ
๐คฉ๐
The first of my weekly...
"Get a look at This!" ๐ฅ๐ธ
Nate Boyd.
Nate came into triathlon with us just over 2 years ago and in that time I've seen this exceptionally hard working and dedicated athlete go from strength to strength.
Not everything has been easy for Nate along the way, many challenges, and some unexpected disappointments, but the young man has the heart of a lion and love for the sport of triathlon that you don't find in an athlete every day.
Today's session took us to the pool for some future planning coming into winter training, but prior to this we've been working on improving Nate's running speed and strength off the bike.
Nate has been smashing his times at Parkrun and he is definitely a force to be reckoned with on the bike.
Working with Nate is always nothing but rewarding for me as his coach...always well mannered, respectful to his competitors and dedication plus.
Watch this space....Nate deserves every accolade that comes his way and there is definitely big things in store for him in the future. โญโญ๐๐

Building awareness, giving back to those individuals, foundations and organisations on both a local and national level is something A BODY 2 FIT has always been passionate about.
Peter and I were so proud of the outcome and efforts shown by each and every member of our "Tri 2 Shake It" team raising over $9000 and bringing the community together in a healthy, fun environment to assist those less fortunate then ourselves. ๐งก๐๐ฉถ
Thanks also goes to the crew at NXsports and Kingscliff Triathlon for their ongoing support of our charity teams and squad on a whole and Cinettica for their sponsorship towards our team singlets.
Here's three cheers to everyone on an amazing outcome!
I've been going to release this post for a couple of weeks now but have kind of been busy with prep for other events and also researching some new training opportunities, so finally here it is....
Coaching is a very rewarding gig but often a very challenging one ๐ as well. However, at the GC30 Main Beach event a couple of weeks ago, I reaped the coaching satisfaction that comes from a tailored program focused towards coaching these specific clients/athletes one-on-one for their individual goals.
Many hours spent not just physically training them, but also mentoring and mentally assisting them to gain the very best from themselves - the belief to trust in the process we have in place and ultimately the belief in themselves.
I often enter these events myself as it gives me a first hand view of my athletes as they perform and puts me out on the course ๐. I can honestly say that as I bumped along the course of the GC30 Main Beach last Sunday what I saw had me not just smiling here and there, but ultimately beaming with pride....I was literally the proudest coach on earth ๐ฅฐ
There is often a little fear and doubt associated with taking on these events and in the days leading up and even that morning of the event the nerves kick in....
"Do you think I can really run that fast for that distance?"
"I don't know if I can run that far"
"What if I hurt myself and undo all the hard work I've done?"
"What if I come last?"
Yes, these are the questions that whirl through their head, however, the one-on-one coaching support, the reassurance, the motivation from their peers and security knowing that they've put the work....that gets them on the line and finally performing at their very best ๐
Over the coming weeks I am going to shine a light on each of these athletes who smashed their goal at the 7.5km Run at GC30 Main Beach.
Congrats to Lilly Carr, Nate Boyd, Leigh Miller, Jacqueline Wogan, & Zoe Wogan ๐
You should be so proud of your amazing achievements and the dedication and tenacity you have shown towards your training programs ๐๐ชโ
Thank you for believing in me, and trusting in my professionalism and expertise as your coach to assist you in achieving your goals ๐
Lilly - 1st ๐ฅณ
Nate - 3rd ๐ฅ
Zoe - 1st โญ
Jacqueline - 32nd & PB finishing in the top third of women ๐ช
Leigh - 1st ๐ฅ
๐ฏ couldn't agree more!
Taking responsibility for who you are and who you want to be into the future ๐ชโ
๐ฅฐ
I love this piece โญ
The Weapon, Leigh Miller is on the team and will represent AUSTRALIA at the 2024 World Duathlon Championships in Townsville!! ๐๐โ
๐ฅ
Training this mum, wife, daughter and athlete over the last 12 months to reach this goal has been one of the proudest moments in the 28 years of my specific triathlon coaching career.
When someone comes to you with a goal as not just an athlete but with other important responsibilities, it is very important as their coach to ensure that balance and support in all these areas is achieved โญ
Mixed with consistency, grit, dedication and of course lots of laughter and just a 'lil bit of craziness here and there....we have smashed out duathlons, even a triathlon (yes you swam), fun runs and even a half marathon, together. In all of that you have just gone from strength to strength. ๐ช๐ช
You have come so far Leigh....from the mum who met me at the coffee shop for a consult with your son after having just bought your first intro bike to do a Duathlon to see if you liked it ๐ฅฐ๐๐ด๐
"I want to represent Australia"
"I want to wear the green and gold."
Well, you've done just that, you're on the team and both Peter and I are so extremely proud of you!
Bring on Townsville....the Weapon Leigh Miller is coming! The CLAW is ready for the finish chute and I'm bringing the Lollie teeth! ๐๐ค
A huge shout out to this amazing young athlete, ZOE WOGAN, who is competing at the Australian School Sport Triathlon Championships in Rockingham, WA tomorrow at 7:00am (9am QLD time) in the well earned Maroon suit. ๐ชโ
Young athletes like Zoe don't come along every day and I feel extremely privileged to be chosen as the coach to guide her through the sport of triathlon after looking for a change from swimming just 12 months ago.
Zoe is also completing year 12 at school and at just 17 years of age, the maturity, dedication and pure grit she has shown to work through this process to deserve this opportunity has been inspiring.
Coaching and finding athletes and parents who want to listen, trust and work to achieve those goals that you all set together is extremely hard work and this family has done it perfectly. A huge shout out to Zoe's mum, Jacqueline Rothfork Wogan whose trust and support in me as Zoe's coach has been never ending. It has been a team effort physically, mentally and socially and tomorrow when Zoe gets on that start line I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that she will give ๐ฏ% to the task at hand.
Peter and I, together with the whole A BODY 2 FIT Squad are extremely proud of you Zoe....go show them what Zoe Wogan is made of....I won't say SMILE down the finish chute because I know that the Zoe way is just a face of grit and pure determination right until the finish line.
Good luck Zoe...may the force be with you ๐ Aka - The Silent Assassin ๐ฅ๐๐ด๐
An amazing race for the Weapon Leigh Miller over the hilly Women's International 5k in Brisbane yesterday and in a personal best time of 20:41 just to top it off ๐
Just 5 months out from World Sprint Duathlon Champs in Townsville and this amazing, very funny and inspirational mum is right on track to take it to them! ๐ฅ๐๐ด๐
A few more events on the calendar coming into the big one on 16th August so keep your eyes peeled on this space peeps ๐๐ช
Congrats on a great race Leigh...tenacity, pure grit and love for the 'pain cave' ๐คฃ always shines through when you step up to that start line. Never a doubt in my mind.
6th out of 1745 in your age group and 24th female overall from 14,116. What an amazing result ๐
Love this pic....total focus on the task at hand โญ
Next up....Brissy Duathlon...let's go!
After qualifying for the School Sport Queensland Team to compete at Nationals in Perth in just 2 weeks time....it's NEW BIKE DAY for Zoe ๐ด๐คฉ and another training session today focused on some specific cycling skills in preparation for what will be a fast, but technical bike course. A brand new beautiful Canyon bike for an amazing young lady who has worked so hard.
So proud of how far Zoe has come since starting triathlon with me just 12 months ago. A very tenacious, focused and passionate young athlete. Hard work, perserverance and trust in my coaching and the pathway we have set for her, has paved the way for her to be at this amazing point in her life.
Just 17 years old, in her final and biggest schooling year, smashing goals out of the park and getting stronger every week. This is how a young athlete should progress and the point we should be focusing on as they leave school and venture into the world as a young adult.
Nurturing our young athletes, supporting them both mentally and physically throughout their young years as they undergo change, growth and social issues, is an integral role as a professional coach and mentor.
Congrats Zoe on your chance to compete against the best young triathletes in Australia on 15th March....Coach Jen and the A BODY 2 FIT team are so proud of you....let's Go! ๐ช๐๐ด๐โญ
So.... 2 years ago today on 22/2/22 (yes all the 2's) I was taken out on my bike by a person who failed to look over her shoulder, in her rear view mirror or her side mirror. She swung her door open right in front of me without a look, in the widest street in Robina, on a very quiet Tuesday morning at 10am! Result... I impacted the door at about 35km/hr. ๐๐ด
My front wheel detached due to broken forks, my left shoulder and left leg impacted the door, I was thrown over the car door, threw the air, landing on my head with the bike coming down on top of me...one leg through the A frame and one leg still attached to the pedal. My front wheel ending up in the gutter in front of the car. I had injuries to every part of my body...shoulder, arm, leg, back and hands.
Thankfully I was wearing a $300 Kask helmet which, even though it was cracked through, saved my life and my BRAIN ๐ง ๐ช (some may think otherwise ๐คฃ)
Lying in the middle of the road...my world changed right there. 24 years of cycling, not one accident, not one fall...53 years old, not one broken bone ever or traumatic injury.
That day the universe apparently thought that they were going to slow the Jen down ๐ณ๐๐ฅด ๐ค๐
This was just another of life's challenges....2 years on, lots of medical appointments, a couple of operations, lots of rehab, frustration and overall tenacity to not give up...yes, my body isn't the same, but I'm still here ๐ It could've been much worse, and it could've ended very differently.
Today I still struggle with pain from the impact, and as a coach I still train clients every day to stay motivated, focused and healthy. I love my job, I love inspiring people and sharing my approach to living life to its fullest ๐โ
๐
My job never comes without a challenge, but I totally believe that if you look hard enough.... there is always a lesson to be learned from every disappointment and the positives in your life will always outway those which carry negativity.
One of my current and most inspirational clients came to me on a day where I layed in hospital post operation wondering to myself, "how the hell am I going to keep coaching messed up like this?"
But from that initial message where she contacted me I was inspired....my brain turned from thinking negative (as a hospital doesn't bring much in the shape of positivity ๐คช) to immediately...."I'm not letting this client go just because I'm lying in hospital because she sounds awesome and I want to train her." ๐ซจ๐ตโ๐ซ
2 days later we met for a consult...10 mths on and she'll be representing Australia in August and this weekend we are smashing Tweed Enduro together at Pottsville ๐๐ด๐
I'm inspired to take on Tweed Enduro this weekend with Zoe and Leigh...two of the most inspirational and coachable clients I have ever trained. I thank my lucky stars for being chosen by both of them to guide them in their journey to what I would just call, AMAZINGNESS (that's not even a word but it's Jen's word ๐คฃ) and most of all I look forward to the belly laughs that they always bring my way, the gun ho attitude which is all 3 of US and the 'Claw Lollie Teeth' run down the finish chute
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Bring it on ladies! ๐ช๐ช๐ช
Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout the last 2 years, for helping both myself and Peter through some very tough times and tough decisions....I am always grateful for your support and hope that I will continue to inspire everyone through my job even when I'm 85! I still have the goal of World Champ at 80 in my sights ๐คฃ๐ and still train and coach to be the best looking athlete ๐คช and coach out on the field โ
๐
Always exciting times when you train with A BODY 2 FIT ๐คช
Ok so we think we're pretty funny, but today we did a special training session at Pottsville to practice the illustrious Lollie Teeth antics for our Tweed Enduro Half Ironman event in just 9 days time ๐๐๐ oh and of course to try the ride and run course out ๐ช๐
Whatever works in helping finding the inspiration and motivation to get through that 90k bike ride and 21km run....right!? ๐๐คฃ
Note: Zoe was absent from Team "A BODY 2 FIT Weapons" as she had a date with school ๐คช, but we have saved her some Lollie teeth for practice this arvo at training.
Ok, so I can't help but be extremely proud of this amazing young athlete, Zoe, who been doing both Personal Training and Squad Triathlon Coaching with me in her campaign to originally make it to the South Coast School Sport Triathlon Team. Let it also be known that Zoe only came into triathlon with me in late November 2022, so she has literally been doing triathlon for 15 months.
Well, Zoe reached that South Coast Team back at the end of October last year and from there the goal became one of even greater focus, and determination to basically 'turn some heads' at the State Triathlon Champs which were held last Friday in Hervey Bay.
Wow...Zoe didn't just turn some heads....she smashed that race out of park, cleaned up lots of Triathlon Qld Development Pathway athletes and grabbed herself a spot on the Qld A-Team to compete at Nationals in Perth in just 4 weeks time โญโ
๐ช
Zoe is a remarkable young athlete to coach. Not only does she fully trust in my coaching, but she listens to instruction, has built the confidence to believe in her ability and learned to focus on her own personal pathway rather then waste time and energy worrying about her competition, or what other squads are doing. This takes maturity and belief in the chosen process....one we have built together ๐คฉ
On Friday as we walked to the start line of her biggest race in triathlon in her short time in the sport, I won't deny that she was literally 'crapping herself' ๐คฃ but just a few quick words of belief from her coach " you're ready for this ...you're on fire Zoe....just go out there and smash it!"
She replied...."ok...just smash the whole thing!"
So proud I think I could've burst when she ran down that finish chute....this is why I coach and the reason I always stand firm on my coaching principles and what is in the best interest of these young people as they develop into amazing athletes.
Thanks to Zoe for the dedication and commitment she shows to every training session and her parents for trusting in not only my process but also with their most prize possession...their Zoe! ๐ โญ๐๐ช
Lookout Perth....Zoe is coming for you ๐คช
So, I just have to give a huge shout out to this amazing young lady, ZOE, who has been training with me 1 on 1 as well through our Junior Triathlon Squad.
This morning Peter captured this amazing picture of Zoe as I set her on a mission to challenge herself in the Varsity Parkrun at the end of a big training week.
So composed and focused on the task at hand ๐
Zoe's dedication, commitment and perseverance towards her goal of competing at her first Qld State Triathlon Championships on 9th February in Hervey Bay has been faultless.
Not every session as an athlete is always easy or your best because that's what training is...it's training! BUT....when it comes to Zoe, the dedication, pure grit to keep going and give her best at every training session....that's what makes an amazing athlete and human being โญ๐ช
So proud of you Zoe ๐โ
๐ช๐
Keep being the amazing person you are!
So awesome to be back training this amazing chick this morning โ
๐ชโญ๐ด๐
What an exciting year ahead for Leigh who will be representing at ITU World Age Group Sprint Duathlon Championship in August.
Our prep and planning began today and as usual was full of 100% effort, 'worldly discussion' ๐คฃ and of course lots of laughs.
Oh and of course, in true Leigh Miller style, she had to smash the record at Pizzey Park track ๐ช๐ช on Strava ๐คช
I've never met a chick who loves to hurt as much as this one, but her gutsy attitude is definitely going to delivery a load of fun whilst building the strongest athlete possible for August 2024!
Let's GO!

Super proud of this amazing chick who is an absolute WARRIOR OF LIFE!
Last week she smashed out the Kingscliff Triathlon with us and yesterday she didn't just run the 5km event at GC50 Run Festival...she accidentally missed the turn (due to cheering team mates on ๐) and ended up doing the 12k event ๐๐ dragging her amazing hubby Phil along for the ride ๐คฃ

Mel only started training with me back in April after joining us on one of our "Family Bike Adventure Tours" and now...here she is....celebrating another finish chute, high fiving one of her best buddies and training partners Jacqueline Rothfork Wogan
