Women in Tourism Gold Coast is a key networking group on the Gold Coast for tourism professionals.

🌸Introducing Dr Robyn Cameron🌸
Robyn is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Engagement in the Griffith Business School’s. Department of Accounting Finance and Economics. Robyn’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Business with First Class Honours from Griffith University, and a PhD in Accounting. She has been published in various national and international journals and prior to joining Academia, Robyn held positions in the Finance Industry for seventeen years.
Robyn is the woman behind the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s largest community fundraiser, The Pink Ribbon Cup Race Day. Since she began fundraising for NBCF in 2007, Robyn has made an undeniable impact on the face and future of breast cancer in Australia. Along with being the founder of this signature event, Robyn has also been the driving force behind many other fundraising committees including being a founding member of the Gold Coast Mother’s Day Classic, involved in the NBCF’s Gold Coast Global Illumination Campaign and has chaired NBCF Gold Coast Fundraising & Volunteer Committee, a committee dedicated to raising funds and awareness in the Gold Coast community.
Robyn’s fundraising efforts have been recognised by the NBCF who presented her a patron’s award. Her sustained community dedication extends back to 2007 when she was awarded the CCQ Spirit of Cancer Award in 2007. Robyn was also given the honour of being a Queen’s Baton Bearer for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in recognition of her work of raising awareness of and fundraising for breast cancer research.”

In Gold Coast Tourism several trends are shaping the industry in 2024. One of those key trends is nature-based tourism.

We are excited to announce that yesterday at the JW Marriott Hotel Resort, the new Women in Tourism Committee was ratified for 2024/25. President Elect, Allison Forner said her team is made up of dedicated professionals who are on a mission to empower the Gold Coast workforce and foster a supportive, inclusive environment for those working in all aspects of tourism.
The new committee includes Vice President Cassie Cox from Accor Group, Treasurer, Diana Brittain from The Endo Shop, Public Relations Coordinator Katrina Sanguigno of Jumpstart PR, Events and Charities Coordinator Georgina Randall from Allium Consulting, Memberships and Website Coordinator, Belle Osmic of Osmic Productions, RSVP Coordinator, Melissa Hamilton of Dreamworld, Skypoint, Whitewater World and Fiona Guthrey of Kiff and Culture and serving on General Committee Rui Zhang from HOTA.

Get to know our August Guest Speaker🎤
Josephine has a marketing and management background in Tourism, Cruise Ships, and Events. She has held board appointments internationally and domestically, where her corporate and governance skills have contributed to the direction of these entities and their clients, including New Hebrides Tourism and Visitor Bureau, Island Holidays Pty Ltd (Division of UTA French Airlines), Brisbane Visitor and Conference Bureau and Queensland Museum.
With her experience gained from international senior roles in airlines, cruise shipping, and inbound tourism, on her return to Australia, she held consulting roles, including those at Paradise Centre—Gold Coast, World Expo 88, Queensland Events, and with an internationally renowned Cruise Ship company bringing its operations to the South Pacific.
In 1993, Josephine moved into the community sector, forming Women at Work, the Women Return to Work Program and the International Women’s Day Leadership Awards, only retiring as Founder and Coordinator in 2018.
During this time, Josephine also held the position of President of the Gold Coast Dance Teachers Association Incorporated.
Josephine was elected as President of Gold Coast Show Society Inc. in Dec 2018. She has navigated the Society through 5 challenging years commencing with the move from the Gold Coast Turf Club to Broadwater Parklands as a free show. Add financial and funding challenges, COVID and rising costs to produce an event; today her mantra to the community is Gold Coast Show – Your Show.
At our WIT August Industry Breakfast, Josephine hopes to inspire and ignite your show memories and take you on a 124-year journey—reminding you that before there was high rise, there was a Gold Coast Show.

TV personality and Media Trainer Shelly Horton inspired our Women in Tourism members and guests at last night’s WIT & LEARN at 19 Karen Contemporary Artspace Mermaid Beach.
Not many of us get our five minutes of fame on TV, but we need to be able to speak in front of others about our business and ourselves.
Shelly shared some of her best kept industry tips & tricks from how to control nerves and speak confidently, as well as sharing personal stories of her 30 + years in the media.
There was laughter, nervous confessions, sharing, body language education and on-camera experience with constructive feedback from Shelly.
Her workshops are invaluable for businesses and great as a team building activity.
