The July/August issue of Architecture Australia is out now, and so is the anticipated dossier ‘What can non-Indigenous designers do?’ It was a pleasure and privilege to work with guest editor Danièle Hromek @danihro on this dossier. A big thank you to our deadly First Nation contributors: Sarah Lynn Rees, Michael Mossman,Dillon Kombumerri, Bradley Kerr, the team at Blaklash, Michael Hromek, Carroll Go-Sam, Robyn Hromek and Carlos Porras, Andrew Lane, Kaylie Salvatori, Theresa Bower, Sian Hromek, Uncle Greg Simms and Aunty Jacinta Tobin. The collection of principles in this dossier are not hierarchical and very much interconnected. As Daniele mentions in her introduction ‘...it is not an exhaustive list, but underlying all these words are long-term aspirations to make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of Country, and to have a positive impact on the future of culture and of First Nations peoples.’ We hope the industry sees this dossier as a resource that offers many starting points for those looking to begin designing with and for Country and community, or a resource that offers additional principles to apply for those looking to further develop their knowledge and skills.
