🥈 CONGRATULATIONS EMERSON! 🥈

This weekend Emerson has been representing KIC Swim Club at the Victorian Country Championships in Traralgon, swimming against some of the best swimmers in the state.

Emerson has had a fantastic weekend posting PB times in all of her events across the 3 days.

This morning in the heats session she qualified through the the 11/U 50m breaststroke final, qualifying in 2nd place with a massive 1.87 second PB.

She then backed this up in this afternoons finals session taking another 0.77 seconds off her time finishing in 2nd place in the very close final, being narrowly pipped at the post by 0.08 seconds.

Well done Emerson! It’s fantastic to see all your hard work and many laps in the pool paying off.

Welcome to Week 2 of Term 2 2023

Just a reminder to families that it is recommended you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your lessons to ensure you are able to park and be in the building ready to start at your allocated lesson time. If the swim school car park is full and the buses have left at the end of the school day alternative parking options are in the bus bays, or near the Katsumata Centre (Orange building)

If you did not receive your April update email last week please let us know so we can resend. This had important information on upcoming term and holiday dates, how to notify and absence and book a make up class and much more.

This week our weekly focus is Freestyle.

For new families each week there will be a focus skill that all teachers will work on. During our staff meetings each night we cover the skills with the staff team so that it is refreshed in their minds and the team can share their knowledge with each other on drills to aid skill progression.

Within the lesson all classes will recap the skills covered in the focus the week prior, cover the current weeks focus, along with other skill areas the instructors have observed need work.

We look forward to having all classes back in the water this week.

3 of our KIC Swimming Club Swimmers have had a busy week volunteering at the FINA World Shortcourse Swimming Championships in Melbourne.

They got to brush shoulders with not only their Australian idols but also with international swimming stars - with one of the swimmers even being given a gold medal 🥇 from one of the USA swimmers last night! What a souvenir!

Congratulations Anja, Alesha and Amelia on your great work helping with the championships!

It’s been a big few weeks for our KIC Swimming Club swimmers!

2 weeks ago was the final meet of the Top 5 series.
Over the 4 meets of the series swimmers earned points towards age group aggregate awards. We had 4 swimmers finish in the top 5 places:

Emerson M - 1st 9 year girls
Alric W - 1st 12 year boys
Alesha W - 3rd 14 year girls
Anja H - 5th 12 year girls

Alric, Emerson and Alesha all competed in all 4 events in the series, with Anja only able to complete in 3 events but with great results in her 3 meets managed to still place in the top 5 which is a phenomenal effort.

Congratulations to all the swimmers who attended the top 5 meets this year - hopefully we can have more swimmers attend all 4 meets and end with podium finishes next year 🏆

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Today - Emerson M and Zoe L were selected as part of the Barwon South West Team for the Country Junior event. Just being selected in the team is a huge achievement with the girls competing against the best country Victoria swimmers at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Emerson - swam an incredible race to finish 2nd 🥈 in the 10 year girls 50m breaststroke in a nail biting finish, only pipped at the post by 0.4 seconds after being just ahead most of the race. She also placed 9th in 50m free and just narrowly missed the top 10 in the 50m fly finishing 11th.

Zoe also had a fantastic day with 4 PB’s swum, and also just narrowly missing a top 10 finish - placing 11th in the 9 year girls 50m fly.

Congratulations girls - you both had fantastic results against the best swimmers from around the state! Well done!

Huge congratulations to Tara, Alric & Emerson on their fantastic swim’s at the Victorian All Junior Championships today!

These 3 competed in 7 finals across this morning posting more PB’s on top of their swims yesterday.

The icing on the cake was Emerson fighting it out in a very close 50m breaststroke race to walk away with the bronze medal and another 2 seconds off her personal best time!

This is only the 3rd swimming competition Emerson has attended after moving into our Squad program in Term 3 last year from our KIC Swim School program, and was great to see her handle the nerves and excitement of a championship competition so well.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers on a successful competition this weekend - and look forward to seeing the improvement continue next weekend at District Championships!

Photos from KIC Swim School's post 19/03/2022

Our KIC Swimming Club swimmers had a great day at the Country All Junior Semi-finals today with an avalanche of PB’s being posted!

To qualify for this event you had to finish in the top 8 in the district at the sprints meet back in February which is a massive achievement in itself given the district runs from Geelong all the way to Mt Gambier!

10 of our swimmers competed in 31 events today and posted 28 PB’s! Which is an incredible feat in itself!

In addition to these fast times we also have had the following swimmers qualify for the championship finals tomorrow at MSAC - to do this you had to finish in the top 10 in country Victoria!

Congratulations and best of luck for tomorrow to the following swimmers:

Emerson: 9 year girls 50 Brst (5)
Tara: 12 year girls 50 fly (5), 12 year girls 50 brst (6), 12 year girls 50 free (4)
Alric: 12 year boys 50 fly (5), 12 year boys 50 back (5), 12 year boys 50 brst (4)

Also congratulations to Emerson (9 year girls 50 free) and Henry (14 year boys 50 brst) on finishing as first emergency for their respective events. This is a massive achievement too and should be celebrated!

11/03/2022

Just a quick reminder that we are closed for the long weekend and no programs will be running Saturday 12 to Monday 14 March.

We will reopen on Tuesday 15 March for all our regular programs.

We hope that all our families and staff enjoy the break and look forward to seeing you all back next week.
