Who is Birchgrove?
They are a feline rescue located in Dodgers Ferry. They are a team of wonderful people supporting and caring for homeless felines in Tasmania. Through thick and then they are dedicated to finding homes for every cat while educating about cat ownership.

Why did we choose them?
My partner and I have volunteered at the shelter for the past few years, we adopted Mary Jane and Billie ourselves last year. While volunteering we have seen many kitties come and go, recover from terrible conditions and find loving homes. We saw our cats learn to flourish in a safe home after their previous homes were not. It was important to us to find another way to support the shelter.

Mary Jane and Billie have become apart of my business, they are my fluffy office assistants. So much of my audience is kind, caring people who have watched them grow. This is a way for us to spread the word even further with your help!

👋 I'm Abigail. A 21 year old brand designer and small business owner from Australia.

I studied graphic design for four years, and left my job in March of 2023 to pursue my freelance career. Art has always been my biggest passion, along with entrepreneurship. Once I discovered graphic design I immediately knew it was the path for me.

Some fun facts about me:
⭐️ I love creativity + art, not just in a business sense but in all areas of my life. I really enjoy being in creative spaces, listening to unique music, watching movies where colour theory and art are hidden throughout the scenes, etc. I enjoy finding and supporting artists who really go above and beyond in their work.

⭐️ I've always enjoyed creating businesses and had many during my childhood years, including selling bracelets and drawings in school, growing rare plants. 🫣

⭐️ I am obsessed with Ghibli movies ( Howls moving castle is my favourite. My cat Billie loves to watch Ponyo, I think the illustration style makes it enjoyable for people and their pets!)

⭐️ I collect bookish tattoos! I love to read and have tattoos from A Court of Silver Flames and Pride + Prejudice. All my tattoos have bookish + artistic meanings. More to come soon 🙌

Oops I've done it again. A big website update!
I love to update my website as my business grows and changes. I've also been enjoying branching out with custom code lately.

psss.. If you haven't seen yet, I've updated by package icons and brand illustrations again. While my previous renaissance inspired illustrations were a great representation of the work I like to create for others, it didn't quite align with my own brand. Now these illustrations match up the style of my business with it's values.

What is a logo suite?
A logo suite is a collection of logos within a brand fit to suit different purposes. These include your Primary, Secondary, and Sub-mark logos.

The primary logo is the one that is used the most. It is usually the most detailed.
The secondary logo is a variation of the primary that is used when the primary logo will not fit the space. This is usually horizontal, which is better suited for your website header or horizontal packaging.
The sub-mark logo is a super simplified version of your primary logo. This is for very small spaces where you cannot see lots of detail such as profile pictures, buttons, zippers, trademark, etc.

It is really important to have a logo suite rather than 'just a logo'. One logo won't fit every product or space. Having variations for all your business's needs creates a full branded experience, is more accessible to your customers, and creates a professional look.

Business cards!
All my brand projects include a business card design. It doesn't matter if your business is run from home or sold in person, a business card will always come in handy. I've recently updated mine to include some blank space on the back to write notes for potential clients. 🙌

What's in store for 2024?
- Launch Rebrand ( I've been working on some stuff behind the scenes )
- Portfolio Update ( While I took a break from posting online I did not take a break from client work 😉)
- Office Move ( I was hoping to be moved into a new space by now but should be very soon )
- Back to Regular Posting ( After posting daily last year I got a bit burnt out but now we are back )
- Internal Refresh ( My business went through some changes at the end of last year, including contracts, client portals, and brand guides. I'll be giving these some updates to match the rest of my rebrand )
- Website update ( I know I update my website a lot, but I'm feeling one more big one 👀 )
- Client Projects! ( With the updates to the inside of my business, it will smooth up my client process and allow for me to take on more bookings per month 🌟)

Anyway.... that's my update. Sharing my goals will keep me accountable and allow me to reflect on them throughout the year. 🙌 Learning to run your own business can be a struggle sometimes but it's important to keep pushing through together!

Hey there designer, this is your reminder to update your branding! ⭐️
While designing for other businesses, it can be really easy to forget to design for your own. As our skills grow it is really important that our portfolio and personal branding reflect the quality and skills we have to offer.

For any business out there, is it great to schedule regular times to reflect on your business strategy and create some changes. Don't forget about your website or your google business page! Often the first place customers look is the place we forget to keep up to date.

Introducing.. the logo suite for
Ready to transform your body and mind with the guidance of a Personal Trainer? Renaissance Coaching has got you covered. 💪

I absolutely loved working on this project with Giuseppe. I skipped my figure drawing classes in college and focused on art theory so I did not have much experience illustrating figures. But after a few attempts and many sketches later I completed this logo suite! I'm super happy with how it turned out.

The figure is inspired by roman statues, ( specifically Trevi Fountain ) the background is inspired by old Italian tile + pottery. ✍️
