Details of the Drunken Admiral ⚓️📜
✖️✖️✖️
One of the many aspects of the Drunken Admiral experience is having an explore and browsing the numerous (countless in fact!) artefacts on display in every nook and cranny. The restaurant is pretty much a museum in its own right. Even for those of us working at the restaurant, we come across pieces we’d hadn’t noticed previously almost every night. And behind each and every single item (whether it be an anchor, a ship’s wheel, a pulley or a painting), there’s a story waiting to be told…

So starting today, we thought we’d begin sharing some of these pieces and some of the stories that they hold 😆

This first instalment is shot looking through from the “Ship” section toward the corridor that runs along the restaurant from the kitchen along the back of the building.

We absolutely love this street lamp which is advertising clean rooms for two shillings and six pence. Aaarghhh, they were the days, fresh towel and soap once a week - this could be a scene straight from the history books! This lamp was from Hobart Town somewhere in the 19th century. And to think that the Drunken Admiral building is now over 200 years old!

The beautiful ship housed in the case was handmade by Kenneth Godfrey (Craig’s father) in the 1990’s. And the “Blackstone” sign is from a railway station (or train) from the settlement of Blackstone (Queensland). The settlement owes its origins to the Bundamba Mine which operated from 1866 to 1870 and a private railway line was built connecting a series of mines…

Bonus points if you can identify where this billboard picture was taken? 🤔

This was part of some advertising for a MONA FOMA installation by Nigerian-born artist Emeka Ogboh, incorporating a collaborative gin, made using Tasmanian expertise and endemic botanicals fused with those from West Africa.

And the images were shot in the ✌🏻

PLEASE HELP!
⚠️⚠️⚠️
Some reprobate has stolen one of our wall mounted signs overnight (see pic) and we would love to get it back!

We are offering a $500 reward 💰 for information leading to the safe return of this sign…

The sign means a great deal to us and we would be very grateful for any assistance that helps return it 🙌🏻

The sign itself went missing overnight (Sunday 24th March into Monday 25th March) and it’s approximately 1.2m tall and 1m wide.

Thank you 🙏🏻
