The Antarctic Women's Network is still accepting submissions for the Women in Antarctica - 'Through our Eyes' exhibition - Deadline 10 May📸❄️🐧👁

The exhibition will feature Australian and French women who have worked in or with Antarctica and/or the Southern Ocean.
It is an exciting opportunity to showcase the contributions of women to the sector across a range of different careers🥽🎓🚁🛳⛽️📹🩺📈🚛🥾🦺

The exhibition aims to shine a light on the experiences of a diverse range of women, through their own eyes👁📸 Participants will be required to provide 3 images and a 30 second audio recording. While lots of us have found the experience of reflecting on ourselves and our careers to be challenging, the exhibition will be a raw and authentic story of women in Antarctica, as told ‘Through our Eyes’.

All Antarctic women are encouraged to participate in the exhibition!
Please email [email protected] ASAP for instructions, and don't forget the deadline is 10 May ⏰

✨Calling all Antarctic women✨
You are invited to participate in an exciting exhibition ‘Through our Eyes’ for the Australian Antarctic Festival 2024 to be held in Hobart. This project is an Australian-French collaboration as part of a Women in Antarctica project for the Festival.

The aim of the project is to showcase how Australian and French women see and experience Antarctica, with more and more women working in and with Antarctica. 👁

We are looking for women with diverse experiences working in the Antarctic sector, they need not have been to Antarctica as part of their work. We invite women, those who identify as women, and other underrepresented groups, to participate in the exhibition. Please note that the ‘Antarctic’ includes the Antarctic, Sub-Antarctic, and Southern Ocean sectors.

❗️Participants will be required to provide 3 photos and an audio recording by 30th of April 2024. Should you wish to participate, please email [email protected] for instructions 📧❗️

Last month the Tasmanian Polar Network celebrated (just over) 30 years since their formation in 1993 with a reception at Government House.

A focus of the event was the incredible ice sculpture generously donated by City of Hobart.

TPN Antarctic Women’s network is off to a great start! Thank you Dana for a great talk!

30/06/2023

Earlier this week TPN members had a chance to catch up with many friends and colleagues from other national Antarctic programs at COMNAP.

Thank you to everyone that helped out, especially our generous volunteers, and also to Antarctic Tasmania and Trade Tasmania for their support and assistance with the stand images.

Congratulations to antarctica.gov.au for organising a wonderful COMNAP, it was great to be able to attend in person again after a long break.

The new Antarctic Women's Network was hosted by the Lord Mayor for a reception this week, and it was a great way to start activities for 2023!

A vibrant new network has kicked off in Hobart!

It’s called the Antarctic Women’s Network - a place for women working in science and logistics to meet, share ideas and promote the fact that Antarctic jobs are for women as well as men.

Traditionally it’s been viewed that our deep south is too remote, risky and dangerous for women. This group of women know that they have so much to offer in exploring and looking after Antarctica 🇦🇶 ❄️
