"I will achieve great things through small steps."

I came across this quote recently in a game app (it's my little bit of time out that I've started to enjoy again recently). But it really hit home and resonated with me. I've been going through a rollercoaster of emotions after losing Mum to cancer and then more recently selling up and sorting through and selling/donating their things. Something that I knew I'd have to do one day, but I never thought that day would be this soon. And, of course, stress levels have been at an all time high.

So, a lot of hot chocolates and peppermint slices started popping into my daily life for some comfort, a quick diversion from what I had to deal with, or a quick pick me up on the way home.

Either way, what was once an occasional treat became a daily. And given how sedentary I've been, although I feel like there was lots of running around in the past 16 months. But in hindsight, it's been sitting, sitting and more sitting. Whether driving in the car to and from doctors or the hospital, which also meant more sitting and a stop at the cafe on my way through because they have them at the entrance to entice you on your way in, don't they? And my willpower had long run out the door.

But I've been in a funk when it comes to work. I still love my clients, but the thought of marketing to bring in new business has just been blah, to say the least. Of course, through it all, my health has suffered a bit with the stress and the headaches, and jaw clenching has been at an all time high-even to the point of locking my back up one day.

So, I just wanted to share a bit about what's been going on behind the scenes, as business is far from the polished social media posts that are often published. And to just highlight that you don't have to do it all in a day.

My very wise physio suggested about small steps: "Move more, and make better food choices." What wise words, and so much easier to implement when you break it down into small steps like that. I've still had my good days and bad but I'm starting to get more good days. This includes prioritising myself and booking back into my hypno/nutrition program I did back in 2022, I think it was.

So, achieve great things through small steps. As steps forward are progress. And it's progress that matters. ~ Ruth
