Meditation: BS or what?! 

Actually. NO its not a whole lot of BS – surprising AF considering how easy it is to do!

So what does the science say?

Mediation has been scientifically proven to benefit the mind and body a whole hell of a lot.

Reduced stress, improved concentration, emotional wellbeing, better sleep, boosted immune system, increased resilience. The list goes on.

One study showed 89% of participants who meditated had higher levels of emotional regulation.

More specifically a 2018 study showed mums who meditate have reduced general and parental stress and showed increased ability to parent mindfully.

But how the hell does sitting in somewhat stillness do ANY of that?!!

Well, on a physiological level, meditation slows the release of cortisol (the stress hormone) keeping stress levels under control.

So why should you add meditation into your daily routine?

Because it’s not just fluff. It’s scientifically proven to work AND it’s easy!

And as a reminder, you aren’t doing it wrong when your mind is still thinking, still chatting incessantly ❤️ it really is a part of the process, especially when you start out.

This kid 😍 one of the reasons I do what I do. One of the reasons I had to learn to calm my nervous system. Why I had to learn how to control my mind and my emotions - especially those big scary angry emotions that my children sometimes seem to elicit Little man and his sisters. Why, you ask? 🤔 Well you see... 🧐 Once upon a time I had severe postnatal depression. It got so bad I ended up in hospital for 5 weeks. 😭 When I ‘got out’ my world was still a mess. Hospital didn’t fix me. Psychiatrists and psychologists didn’t touch the surface of my pain either. I was feeling empty, lost and broken. 😤 I was just surviving for a long time. 😩 Until one day I found the help that worked for me. I got myself a life coach (plus my village) and started my healing journey. 🤩 I worked through my trauma, my limiting beliefs and my stored negative emotions. 🥳 I soul searched – who am I outside of all my labels. I learnt to love and appreciate myself without guilt. ❤️ My transformation was fast and it was phenomenal. 👩‍🎓From there I trained to be a Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and coach, I am certified in Hypnosis and Emotional Change Technique®.
