After winning the toss and electing to bat Melbourne District have set us 155 to win today.

A great all round effort in the field with 4 direct hit run outs the standout of the day. An even share of wickets amongst bowlers with Zac Poort the only multiple wicket taker (2/33) from his 10 overs. A great opportunity for our batters now to finish off the hard work from our bowlers yesterday. Bat the overs make the runs and we’re into the next round of finals. Let’s go Falcons

Also, a huge thankyou to Community Bank Dingley Village who due to their extremely generous sponsorship allowed us to purchase this gazebo and iPad

Bittersweet finish to the home and away season

With several key players missing from the team we had to be perfect in our ex*****on to make up for their absence. Bowling first couldn’t have got off to much of a better start either having Melbourne District 7/104 just after tea. Despite tight bowling from Kevin Baldsing (3/47), Mark Prendergast (2/21) and Corey Burl (2/41) required to bowl the majority of overs, the Melbourne Distrcit tail batted well, gave limited opportunities and managed to put on close to another 100 runs to set us 201 runs to win.

With finals being guaranteed if we won, our openers looked solid from the get go despite struggling to pick a gap and keep the scoreboard ticking. After losing the first wicket we then lost 4/10 to leave us in trouble at 4/28. A strong 46 run partnership from Brandon De Zilva (66) and Phil Richardson (14) got us back into the game before a few more quick wickets left the De Zilva brothers to bat together and put on 49 between the two with Julian (35) finding form at the right time of the year. The last 3 wickets however fell fairly quickly with us still 42 runs short and left to rely on other results to find out our finals fate.

The nervous wait in the change rooms post game calculating percentages and refreshing the playcricket app, we finally got confirmation that we had indeed made the top 4 by 0.09%, thanks to CHAGs mammoth chase of 266.

Congratulations to the team for making it into finals. All the hard work at training has paid off and now it’s time to put it all together as we aim for out 2nd flag in 3 years.

2 important and hard fought wins to start the second half of the year

In a must win game against the CUCC Kings, Brandon Poole (5/29) got us off to the perfect start, taking 3 wickets in his first 3 overs before Kevin Baldsing (2/7) restricted them in his 6 overs. A great overall bowling and fielding effort, left us with 114 to win. Despite a strong start from Kevin Baldsing (26), Mark Prendergast (35) and Brandon De Zilva (16), in true Keysy Park fashion, we made things hard for ourself and had a mini collapse going from 1/64 to 7/111. In a nail biting finish we were able to get across the line in the last over to finish 7/114.

Following on from the previous weeks nail biting win, we were again bowling first and again Brandon Poole (2/17) lead the charge taking a wicket with his first ball to make early inroads on the Le Page batting order. However, it was Brandon De Zilva (3/28) that did most of the damage with his brother Julian (1/13) bowling in only his second game for the year taking a key wicket and restricting runs. While we stayed on top for most of the innings, Le Page were able to fight their way to a respectable total of 8/141. This however proved to be not enough with Mark Prendergast (70*) and Kevin Baldsing (47*) continuing on with their excellent form and putting on a match winning partnership to give us a 9 wicket win.

In such a tight season with the top 4 teams all equal on points and 7 of 8 teams still a chance to make the top 4 these wins give us an excellent opportunity to build momentum in the final 2 rounds and give ourselves the best chance to be there once finals roll around.

20/12/2023

Keysy win the unwinnable🦅🏏

After winning the toss and electing to bat we got off to a fairly good start. Adam and Mark Prendergast (18 and 12) both got starts before getting themselves out and captain Kevin Baldsing made a solid 36. Unfortunately neither of them were able to convert their start into a good score and with no one else reaching double figures we finished with what we thought was a well below par score.

Our bowling begun well with Kevin Baldsing taking 3 important wickets to give us the start we needed. At drinks CHAG looked to have a huge advantage in the game at 3/67 and that they would chase down the runs easily. Until Adam Prendergast (4/9) and Kiefer Williams (2/15) bowled perfectly in partnership. Picking up continuous wickets to ensure CHAG couldn’t get too far ahead of the game.

With only 1 wicket needed and close to 40 runs to win, we did our best to gift CHAG the game. With an easy dropped catch, followed by an expensive over going for 20 it became anyone’s game again until Brandon Poole cleaned up the last wicket.

A great win to end the year followed by a few beers and a laugh with the CHAG boys after the game who continue to look for their first win against us since the grand final😉

Keysy Crumble Déjà vu

After being sent in to bowl, we couldn't have got off to a better start with Brandon Poole doing most of the damage taking 4/44, we had CUCC Kings 6/58. Even at 8/128 we looked on top and a chance to bat that night but good sensible batting from the Kings tail order took them to 174. A reasonable total, but a lot higher than it should have been.

Much like our bowling, our batting couldn't have got off to a better start. Openers Adam Prendergast (37) and Jerome Willenberg (29) put on an excellent partnership and set the foundation for the rest of the team. Mark Prendergast made his 2nd 50 of the season however, after being 2/122 no other batsman was able to reach double figures. Losing our last 8 wickets for 49 runs and 3 runs short in a disappointing finish to a game where we gave ourself every opportunity to win.

An incredibly poor performance that means we now need to fight to keep in contact with the top 4. We still have a lot to improve on, so we look forward to next week in a great chance to redeem ourselves against Highett West, a team we had some good battles with last year.

16/11/2023

Looking to bounce back on our home ground in our first 2-dayer this year after a disappointing result last week

14/11/2023

Just wasn't our day

After losing to toss and being sent in to bowl, our day couldn't have got off to a better start after a half chance run out from Brandon Poole lead to a flurry of wickets for us. Brandon De Zilva took 2 quick wickets in the following overs. Mark Prendergast came on and after being launched into the tennis court for 6 first ball he fought back and within an over and a half had taken 3 wickets and even found himself on a hat-trick.

Despite heading into drinks at 6/60ish we were unable to finish the job off and several dropped catches after tea meant we were left with a score of 164 to win.

Our openers Jerome and Brad got us off to a good start again facing out the first 12 overs before Brad Price carried the innings for a composed 29. 4 of the next 5 batters then failed to make more than 2 runs with Kevin Baldsing (31) the only middle order batsman to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Some late hitting from Julian De Zilva (17) and Corey Burl (23) wasn't enough to get us across the line though as we fell 27 runs short.

A disappointing effort after a great start to the game. Credit to Le Page who fought back after being in a difficult spot early in the game. We will work on a few things at training and look to bounce back in our first 2-day game next week.

09/11/2023

Looking to keep the momentum going and make it 3 in a row🏏🦅

06/11/2023

Falcons win to go top of the ladder🦅🏏

After winning the toss and electing to bat first we were on the back foot after an early wicket, although for the next 37 overs it was composed batting from all involved. Mark Prendergast (37) continued on from last weeks half century alongside Brad Price in a supporting role and together were able to put on a 53 run partnership before they both went out in quick succession. Captain Kevin Baldsing (44) and Brandon De Zilva (32) then settled the ship again to put on another 80 runs together in an effortless looking partnership to get us to a competitive position ready to finish the innings strong with wickets in hand. While we couldn't fully capitalise on the final few overs we were still able to post a competitive score of 6/172 from our 38 overs. The second week in a row we were able to face all available overs and not get bowled out.

Our bowling couldn't have got off to a worse start with Diamonds reaching 1/76 in the 12th over and their captain looking to replicate the 100 he made against us in the practice match. From then on, tight bowling from Mark Prendergast and excellent fielding from Adam Prendergast taking 2 important catches right before tea began to swing the momentum. Mark finished his 8 overs with figures of 4/29 and Kiefer Williams 1/6 off 4 overs coming in to pick up the key wicket of their captain in his second over putting Diamonds right on the back foot. Although still way ahead of the run rate, needing only 48 runs with 14 overs to go and 4 wickets still in hand. Keeper Phil Richardson was able to take 3 great catches and capitalise on some tricky half chances to keep the pressure right on. The two Brandons (Poole 3/22 and De Zilva 2/46) then came back on to finish the tail perfectly collecting the last 4 wickets for only another 17 runs to have them all out for 143.

This was easily our best all round team effort with the bat, ball and in the field to date. A never say die attitude managing to take the last 7 wickets for only 40 runs puts us to the top of the ladder and leaves us with great confidence heading into the rest of the season knowing we are never out of the contest.

02/11/2023

First home game for the year🏏🦅

Looking to build on last weeks win and generate some momentum we face the Diamonds, who we played in a practice match. A day that didn't go to plan as we struggled with bat, ball and in the field. This is a great opportunity to test ourselves and see how much we have improved in the last 6 weeks.

30/10/2023

A Marvin Masterclass gets the Falcons their first win for the year🏏🦅

After winning the toss and electing to bat our openers got us off to a strong start despite tough windy conditions. The wind was so strong that even Brad managed to hit 2 sixes. Mark carried the batting in a composed 61 and returned to form after his duck in round 1. Everyone else struggled to make more than a handful of runs with Corey (13) and Jerome (12) the only other batters to make double figures.

The bowling was excellent in such tough conditions. Bowling into the wind was no mean feat and despite tight bowling from the openers, we struggling to take any wickets consistently and put pressure on. Zac bowled perfectly when he came on into the wind to finish with 2/29 from his 8 overs however the man of the moment - Marvin on return from his brief retirement and 4 balls bowled at training to take 5/18 was crucial for our victory.

Overall, a pleasing result for the team, with plenty to work on still with the bat. However, two good fielding and bowling efforts to start the year is promising for it to all click into place shortly.

26/10/2023

Ready to bounce back and win our first game of the 2023/24 season🦅🏏

A lack of numbers from Bentleigh ANA late last week resulted in our game was changed from a 2 dayer to a 1 dayer.

We welcome back Marvin 'premiership falcon' Lampert after his 1 game retirement. Laurie Lane returns to the starting 11 after playing an important role as 12th man and fielding for us in round 1 and Zac Poort also come in for his first game of the year

NOT THE START WE WERE HOPING FOR

Having won the toss and electing to bowl, the day couldn't have got off to a better start. Brandon Poole (4/36) struck in his first over before rain sent us off the ground for all of about 6 minutes.
Our bowling and fielding kept the pressure on all game with Corey Burl (2/24) picking up two quick wickets. A 67 run partnership was broken by Brandon De Zilva (3/20) with one of the luckiest catches from Brandon Poole starting the Melbourne Districts collapse. With the sun in his eyes he hit the ground - the ball bounced off his leg and back into his hand while lying on the ground. From that moment the two Brandons took 5/18 to finish off the innings at 9/172.

Our batting didn't get off to the greatest start with the score at 4/21 before Brandon De Zilva (71 off 77) partnered up with Adam Prendergast (16 from 29) and Kiefer Williams (17 off 32) to get us back to a competitive score at 6/127. After Brandon went out it was all over for us losing our last 4 wickets for only an extra 17 runs despite a brave effort from Luke Meo walking out to bat after leaving the ground with a hamstring injury while fielding to finish all out for 144.

Overall, not a terrible start to the season. Lots to work on at training but plenty of upside for the rest of our season.

🏏🦅Two more sleeps until the 2023/24 Season is officially underway🏏🦅

This Saturday we begin our 2023/24 campaign against Melbourne Districts. A team we share a home ground with and look to take bragging rights over.

The club is delighted to welcome back Kevin Baldsing, who will be leading us as our Captain Coach for the upcoming season. Kevin brings a wealth of experience and a passionate commitment to our club. We can't wait to see his leadership and expertise in action on the field once again.

Thanks to Kevin, the past few months the club has been working hard training both indoors and outdoors and the improvement has been significant. Gone are the days of rocking up to round 1 with minimal training and getting the rust out. We are looking to hit the ground running as we embark on hopefully another successful season.

Also returning to the club after several years off are Laurie Lane, Luke Meo and life member Jerome Willenberg. We are stoked to bring them all back to the club and we wish them the best of luck for the upcoming season.

Bring on season 23/24!

FALCONS TAKE THE HONOURS ON SEASON 2021/2022! 🏆

Can you believe it has already been a week?! Now that we've had a moment (or few) to celebrate and reflect on an incredible season, we figured it was worth providing the recap.. mainly so we can remind ourselves and re-live it once again! 😂

Up against a strong CHAG side once again and having defeated them in the semis to reach the Grand Final, we knew they would come at us hard, searching for redemption. The grass glistened at Memorial Oval. Everything was set-up for an enthralling contest!

Adam lost the toss, as has come to be the norm, and we were sent in to bat! Our openers, Julian De Zilva and Brad Price soaked up the pressure early and with it, a number of overs. When Julian fell for 14 in the 13th over, we were 1/25. Brad followed soon after for 6, the score still 25. A slow start, but following our usual script, it was what were after. From there, Brandon De Zilva and Mark Prendergast set out to accelerate the innings. With the luck of the shamrock going our way, Mark and Brandon both escaped chances to be dismissed, with CHAG squandering opportunities and giving them both chances to continue batting. When Mark was out caught for 41, we were 3/86. Kiefer Williams came and went for 6, before the skip entered to play his part. Brandon was out for 31 (5/137) before Adam Prendergast (36) supported by Corey Burl (8) and Marvin Lampert (5no) lifted our total to an imposing 174 from our 38 overs.

Defending our total could not have started much better. Corey struck with his first ball of the day in the second over of the innings to have CHAG on the ropes at 1/5. With CHAG on the back foot early, our bowlers kept it tight and as usual were supported well in the field to continue building pressure. Needing to find a way to score runs, the CHAG batsmen gifted us wickets. Corey (3/22) all of a sudden had the first 3 wickets of the game and the opposition were 3/39 after 14 overs. Cue a change of bowlers, but no relief for CHAG. Zac Poort (3/27) took the next 3 wickets after drinks to leave CHAG at 6/92 after 26 overs and the odds greatly in our favour. However, CHAG's lower order dug deep with the 7th wicket partnership climbing rapidly and threatening to flip the script on the game. 40 quick runs soon had CHAG needing another 40 runs from the last 7 overs. Credit to our boys who kept calm under the pressure, it was Mark who broke the partnership with an LBW. Brandon (2/25) then came back in and took 2 wickets in an over to have CHAG 9/135. One hand on the shield. But the resistance continued and CHAG soon found themselves 9/152 with 3 overs to go. As is often the case, late pressure can force errors. A dropped catch in the outfield looked to damage our hopes of winning, but ultimately, it was a mix up between the batsmen and a good throw from Kiefer into Phil at the keeper's end that ended the game. CUE ABSOLUTE SCENES! ❤️🖤

And so it goes, our season finished in the best way possible. A season long effort that brought a second place finish and the defeat of the top side twice in the space of 2 weeks. A season that wasn't without drama (Dare we mention being rolled for 44 by the bottom side only 3 weeks out from finals?). But we found a way and achieved the prize we set out for at the beginning of the season!

Congratulations fellas! A great bunch of boys to not just play, but enjoy cricket with! Not bad for a one side club who trains once a week and eats pizza most nights after training! 😅

KPCC BOOK THEIR SPOT IN THE BIG DANCE! 🦅🦅🦅

It was most unexpected that we would have any play following the overnight deluge that left the pitch underwater at 9:30am. However, thanks to the excellent drainage and the efforts of CHAG, we were able to get the game underway without any delays!

As everyone would be accustomed to at this stage, our skip Adam lost the toss and we were asked to bowl in the most un-cricket-like conditions we've experienced all season.

Our opening bowlers put in a fantastic effort in the early overs on a damp pitch to restrict the run rate. Corey Burl (1/19 off 4.0) struck with the early wicket in the 6th over before Zac Poort claimed the second wicket in the 10th over thanks to an excellent catch from Marvin Lampert! We continued to limit the runs and CHAG were 2/44 at the half-way point. From there, our bowling depth was on show, where, although going wicketless for the next 16 overs, didn't allow the CHAG batsmen to accelerate with wickets in hand. Zac returned at the back end of the innings to take 2 more wickets, finishing with attractive figures of 3/23 from his 8 overs. CHAG finished with a tricky target of 5/150 from their 38.

In reply, our reliable opening partnership of Julian De Zilva and Brad Price once again played patiently, seeing out CHAG's opening bowlers. When Julian fell for 35 in the 20th over, we were 1/43 with a mountain of work still to do and overs remaining becoming a factor. Kiefer Williams (13) came in for a brief cameo before he was dismissed from a blinder in the outfield. Vice-skip Brandon De Zilva, walked to the crease with the score 2/71. Brad was soon out for a well compiled 21, 3/87. Needing to essentially double our score from the last 11 overs, Dizz got on the move in his usual style, with a quick fire 37 that included 3 sixes and 3 fours before he too was dismissed by a spectacular catch on the boundary. At 4/126, Mark Prendergast (17) continued to work quickly towards the total supported by Corey Burl (7*). Our skip, Adam Prendergast came in requiring 13 runs for victory from 4.3 overs. Showing outstanding composure, Adam and Corey got us over the line with 3.3 overs remaining!

It was an incredible effort from our boys to ensure a Grand Final berth in 2 week's time! Put the date in your diaries (Saturday 19th March)! ❤️🖤

GRAND FINAL BOUND! 🦅
Keysborough Park 5/152 defeated CHAG 5/150!

More details to follow soon but just thought you'd like to know! 😉

152 the target! 🎯

05/03/2022

We've got a game!

Despite the overnight rain, we're on track for a 1pm start.

As has been expected all year, Adam lost the toss and we're bowling first!
