The mural is a powerful representation of the bond between generations and the importance of honoring our elders. The piece depicts a young Slavic woman, standing beside her elderly mother. The mural is located in 9 Fish Lane, Brisbane, where people of all ages and backgrounds can view it and appreciate its message. Perisher's ski tube train has been given a fresh look by locally born artist Mike Shankster and Ukrainian artist Arina Apostolova.

They've painted a mural inspired by native flora on two of the train's carriages, giving it a makeover after 33 years of service.

When people ask me what my weekend plans are, I really don’t know. Because sometimes fate throws a twist into my plans.
I was so excited to have heaps of great mural and canvas projects this year before I tore my ACL. Just few days ago I painted a train mural with 🫶🏻, and today I’m doing a physiotherapist and MRI appointments. Sucks but thankful to be alive.

Custom oil painting. I love painting portraits BTW. I’d do it forever. This is so interesting for me to study someone’s face and while painting to think about that person every single moment. 💭What did he do in his life? Where is his family? What were his moral qualities? Who did he love?..
That commission was a bit hard to paint because the reference was only one old photo of bad quality. I tried to use AI to increase the resolution ( Pixelup app and baseten online free service). AI fixes resolution amazingly, but it looses the character. So I used mostly just old original photo to paint from.
The client was happy in the end ❤️

When I moved to Australia three months ago, “Vegemite” was first thing I tried. “Vegemite” is a brown Australian food spread made from leftover brewers' yeast extract. Local people usually have “Vegemite” on toast with avocado. So it’s a traditional Australian breakfast and I like it so much. I wanted to depict three ingredients of “Vegemite” and avocado toast in a painting series. The painting represents people giving thanks for the food in such a way that it was a deeply moving experience.

The blue bird has long been a symbol of happiness for some Germanic peoples. "Chasing the blue bird" means looking for happiness. There are no truly bluebirds in Europe and to catch this bird is at least impossible.
"The blue bird" has become a symbol of unachievable happiness, an unrealizable although beautiful dream. And "hunting for a blue bird" means looking for the nonexistent, wasting time and effort.
