Yesterday we celebrated Harmony Day to honour the wonderful blend of cultures in our offices and took the time to appreciate and learn from our colleagues through the best way we know how, food!

At the end of February, we have saved more than 940,575 tonnes of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere thanks to our solar and LED installations through our commercial business Cherry Energy Solutions, our residential business eko energy and our wholesale and trade business, littil LED lights.

That's equivalent to keeping 204,556 fossil fuel-based passenger vehicles off the road for a year!

With the cost of fuel rising, it may also be a good idea to think about reducing your energy consumption in your home and business with energy-efficient products so you're less affected by the fluctuations in our global economy.

We recently had our Strategy Day where a majority of the Echo Group (Cherry Energy Solutions, littil and Eko Energy) got together to brainstorm new ideas and collaborate together on how we can smash this year out of the park!

We are proud to announce that, as at the end of September 2021, we have saved more than 876,151 tonnes of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere thanks to our solar and LED installations through our commercial business Cherry Energy Solutions, our residential business Eko Energy and our wholesale and trade business, Littil.

This is equivalent to building approximately 156,455 non-electric cars; building cars produces quite a bit of emissions!

Our partner, EnergyAustralia, have reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability and a cleaner future with specific targets of reduced emissions over the next few years.

We're proud to be working with EnergyAustralia to help meet these targets and create a better future for us all.

Today we have reaffirmed our commitment to the clean energy transition with an updated Climate Change Statement. We have now set specific targets of net zero greenhouse emissions by 2050, reducing direct carbon dioxide emissions by 60% on 2019-20 levels by 2028-2029, and to transition out of coal by 2040.

Managing Director Mark Collette said: “The clean energy transformation is accelerating, with more renewable, storage and flexible energy technology available at lower costs than ever before. Our updated Climate Change Statement shares our pathway to net zero. Our approach continues to be one of long-term planning, where we consult with governments and communities as we design and deliver our transition – while ensuring our 2.4 million customers maintain access to reliable and affordable energy.”

Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness.

But it doesn't have to be that way. This year, Juan Sanchez, on behalf of the Echo Group, will be taking part in Vinnies Australia's CEO Sleepout to raise money to support Australians in need.

This is the kind work we need to be doing and supporting to drastically reduce our carbon emissions and give our planet a fighting chance. There is still much to do but great job to the Victorian government for putting a strong focus on our planet and future generations.

Victoria makes pledge to halve carbon emissions by 2030 All government operations – from schools to hospitals – will be powered by renewable energy within the next four years.

Last week, the women of Echo Group met with some of the women at EnergyAustralia to talk about representation, empowerment and diversity.

It was a great learning experience and a fantastic addition to the diversity initiatives we practice at both the Echo Group and EnergyAustralia.

We are celebrating Harmony week and brought in a colourful feast from various nations and backgrounds! We love learning about new cultures and what better way to experience them than through food!

Our strength comes from our diversity and continually learning from and embracing new cultures.

Once a year, we take some time to look back at our efforts throughout the previous year and strategise for the new one.

We take customer and internal feedback very seriously and discuss how we may bring these improvements about.

This year, we've come together a bit differently to reevaluate ourselves and how we can improve, with social distancing and extensive hygiene practices of course!

NSW sets $32 billion bold plan for Clean Energy Transition. In doing so, the Berejiklian Government will unlock $32 billion of new investment in regional NSW and support an estimated 6300 construction jobs and 2800 ongoing jobs.

We are excited for this pivot toward sustainability driven by State Governments and hope to see support from the Federal Government as well.

NSW sets bold plan for clean energy transition | Clean Energy Council The Clean Energy Council today welcomed the New South Wales Government's bold new plan to shepherd in 12 GW of new clean energy generation assets and 2 GW of energy storage by 2030, to take over from its fleet of ageing coal-fired power generation.

"The Australian Energy Market Operator says it will work with the Victorian government to identify and establish new renewable energy zones in the state, as part of a $3.5 billion suite of network development projects designed to ensure a smooth transition to the legislated target of 50% renewables by 2030." 594,431,371 kg CO2!

That's the estimated amount of carbon emissions saved collectively from the Echo Group and our installations. That's equivalent to removing an estimated 128,423 passenger vehicles off the road in one year! If we all had Electric Vehicles, we would be saving approximately half the emissions from fossil fuel-based vehicles.

*this is an estimation based on energy efficiency installations undertaken by Echo Group in relation to emissions factors provided by the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008 and approximate daily average production. Emissions from vehicles were provided by the EPA (US) as an estimate.

As of the end of September, littil have cumulatively contributed to saving emissions equivalent to approximately 27,551 Australians in a year!

Australians have one of the highest emissions per capita in the world and we can all do our part in reducing that number while saving money.

Great news for business around Australia, the federal government has extended the 100% instant asset write-off up to $150,000 to 31st Dec 2020!

Not just that, The Victorian Energy Efficiency Upgrade (VEU) program that was suspended in April was reinstated last month and more incentives have been introduced for dairy farmers looking to reduce energy costs!
