Today we honour all LGBTQIA+ members of our coaching community. 🏳️‍🌈⁠
⁠
Recognising and uplifting LGBTQIA+ voices is important all year round, but Pride Month throughout June gives this a bigger spotlight.⁠
⁠
The PRIDE rainbow signifies the colourful activities and flavours of this month-long celebration which aims to help improve the visibility, acceptance and legal protections for LGBTQIA+ people - and is also a time to reflect on the history of this movement.⁠
⁠
Pride Month honours the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan which was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the USA. The purpose of the month is to recognise the impact that LGBTQIA+ individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.⁠
⁠
At this particular point in time in history, we also want to make mention of how vital it is that we acknowledge that so many LGBTQIA+ people are not safe every single day. Instances of aggression and violence resulting in serious harm and death are an unacceptable reality for many LGBTQIA+ people. We all must continue to advocate, uproot, change and challenge the systems of oppression in the world we live in for this to not be the case. And not stop until it is. ❤️

Today marks the first day of Reconciliation Week. The theme for 2024 is "Now More Than Ever." ⁠

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all people to learn about the shared histories, cultures, and achievements of Australia, and explore how we can contribute to achieving reconciliation. ⁠The theme is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.

The dates for NRW are always May 27th - June 3rd which commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey - the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. ⁠

For reconciliation to be effective, it must involve truth-telling, and actively address issues of inequality, systemic racism and instances where the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are ignored, denied or reduced.⁠ Reconciliation is up to all of us as we create a nation that is based on respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.⁠

At the Beautiful You Coaching Academy, we honour all First Nations people today (and all days) and especially our First Nations coaches and thank you for the ongoing brilliance you bring to the coaching and personal development industries.

This International Day was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, inters*x people, and all other people with diverse s*xual orientations, gender identities or expressions and s*x characteristics. It is now celebrated in more than 130 countries, including 37 where same-s*x acts are illegal. ⁠

Today we acknowledge all members of our community and their clients for whom this day has a special and particular meaning and we actively advocate for a world that is free of homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.
