Who knew hens had such a sweet tooth? 🦷 These little ladies are doing their part to reduce food waste by happily munching on our leftover scones. It's a win-win! 🐓
We don't often have left over scones, but the ladies sure do appreciate their treats!

Sharna came to us after attending the Queensland Tourism Industry Council careers roadshow in 2023 and learning that a school based traineeship was available.
She has a great future ahead of her.
So at work yesterday, Sharna wore her medals proudly. She made and decorated these Halloween themed cupcakes - available for purchase today.
Flowers are essential for a cottage garden and ours have been coming into bloom these past weeks. Such a big change from when we first opened up here (image 3). We now have the lavender adding colour to the borders, at the back wall (closest to the car park), the hibiscus has just blossomed, and at the front we have a red geranium that moved with us from Logan Village.
Inside, we talked to Kris from to select the best options for the table decorations.
In 2022, I organised for Australian Native Edibles to be planted and most have survived. We have Rose Apple, Blue Quandong, Riberry, and Lillypilly in and around the playground. They have been growing well and soon I hope to be able to have some fruit coming in over the summer months.
Getting the best group selfie angle takes skill and practice (and sometimes long arms!). Our team is always on hand to take your group photo for you, I usually send the teenagers!!
Make your selfie extra special by adding one of our hats, there's heaps to choose from. Remember to tag us or check in
Let’s celebrate and thank our Educators.
In time for the royal visit, even though Queensland isn’t on the list 🤴, we have recently had a King Charles coin come in.
Are 50c pieces the first King Charles coins? Anyone seen any other denominations?

It was a pretty big day on Saturday.
We started with coffee and breakfast for event volunteers, moved on to our special high tea celebrations and catch ups, then went into event coffee and drinks mode for the Loud and Proud festival. The cottage room was used as the Living Library location.
Congratulations to the Assorted Grains Inc team for organising a great first time event.
Putting on an event requires a lot of time and people power, not to mention organising the insurances, finances, entertainment, programming, stall holders, marketing, volunteers, and a lot more. It would be awesome to see lots of different festivals and events come to the KBF precinct.
We are proud to be Platinum Sponsors at the Logan Loud and Proud event this Saturday in the Kingston Butter Factory Precinct.
Devon Pixies is the location for the Living Library. This is where you can borrow a Living Book to have a conversation about a chapter of their life.
A full list of ‘Books’ to borrow is in the event Library Loan link. Free!
If you’re planning to come along, add this to your list of ‘todo’, come by our cafe window, grab a cuppa, and have a conversation.

Coming up in a few short weeks is the Logan Loud and Proud festival. Devon Pixies is pleased to be a Platinum Sponsor and the location for the Living Library. I first heard about a living library from social media post. The first living / human library was started in Copenhagen, in 2000. The idea was to encourage people to talk to new people, ones they would not normally talk to.
This fits in so well with us, as one of our aims is that our guests take their time over their high tea and talk - Celebrate, Connect, Catch Up.
If you are planning to come along to the festival, make sure you book your chapter time with these local Living Library conversationalists. Use the phone number on the image or scan the QR code.

In the cake cabinet today: sponge roulade with jam and passionfruit cream.
Get yours before it’s gone!!
We are enjoying lots of passionfruit fresh off our vines this month.
We’ve had passionfruit custard tarts, passionfruit cheesecake for the high teas , and today I made vanilla custard slice with a passionfruit glaze for the cake cabinet. (Although I don’t think the glaze came out as it should have).
Thinking tomorrow I’ll make some meringue shells to have with passionfruit cream.
What’s your favourite thing to make with passionfruit?
Last night I put on my Logan Chamber of Commerce hat and presented the Logan Business Distinction Awards.
Devon Pixies sponsored the Hospitality and Events Category and we congratulate Flamin Grillas Low & Slow and Lionsatspringwood
Here are some of the pictures from the night, I may be a little croaky today from talking so much 😍

Not just today, any day.
Hello. How are you today?
Sitting together over a cup of tea (or coffee) is time to catch up and check in with each other. Sometimes our lives get so busy running from one place to another, that we forget to stop and say hello.
Thursday 12th November is official R U OK day, but it is an everyday hello that can make a difference.
Would you like to join us next Friday night?
Get frocked up, celebrate with local businesses, dance the night away?
This is one of my favourite projects that I work on with the Chamber of Commerce and it’s so exciting to see the winners being announced.

It’s World Dog Day 🐾, so time to introduce our little Miss Daisy who came into our lives at the end of 2023.
Miss Daisy was re-homed with us when her original owner had to go into a care facility that couldn’t have pets.
She has settled in well, enjoys cuddles, short walks, and jumping in muddy puddles.
Our verandah is dogs on leads friendly, we’re happy to fill your water bowl or container for you, and will be introducing a Pixies Puppacino and biscuit very soon.
PS share your pooch pics with us 😍
