The club is pleased to officially announce Willow Grieves as the Head Coach for season 2024.

23/11/2023

For the last 15 years Mark has been a huge part of the Tigers. As both a player, and coach. As head coach for 9 of those 15 years, including picking up the pieces a couple of years ago when three rounds into our first post COVID season we were without a coach, he has played an integral part in getting teams onto the park and playing their best football.

As a club we thank Mark for all he has done over the last 15 years and wish him every success in future endeavours. Look forward to catching up at Old Boys day next year and to see you on sidelines at Nessie some time soon.

23/11/2023

Club Treasurer, master of sponsorship and a sometimes third grade player. So much of what keeps the club running from season to season is not seen by the majority. Peter has been the Treasurer for the last 3 years, as well as almost single handedly running the fund raising efforts of the club. Clearly without the many many hours toiling away behind the scences the club would not be in the position it is today. On the field he's still more than capable and spent much of the season directing traffic in third grade. Bobbed up with a brace on Old Boys day to be best afield and take home the Jimmy Hopson mug.

A legend of the club and a very deserving recipient of Clubman of the Year.

23/11/2023

Locking down the right back position in Ressies, and playing every minute of the season Finn was an easy pick for Most Improved for the club for season 2023. After the second grade captain, Finn was next on the team sheet each week. Rarely beaten in a one on one contest all season, combined with his defensive duties Finn was also a major attacking weapon with continuous bullocking runs up the right flank to set up goal scoring opportunities. Was instrumental in the lead up play to what turned out to be the winning grand final goal.

23/11/2023

The guy that every club needs, hard working on and off the park. Often the guy who plays third grade before sitting on the bench for the next two grades as reserve keeper, or as a sub if required. Never shirks a match day shift and has been on the committe and the club registrar for the last three seasons. The only complaint he has ever had is that the club photographer never captures his goals!

23/11/2023

Always exciting to see the next group of Kotara South juniors making the step up to the senior ranks. Tommy plied his trade predominantly in third grade this season, found his feet early in the season and showed plenty of improvement over the course of the season. Bagged 6 goals, including a hat trick against Swansea in Rd 21, for third place in the third grade golden boot race. His name also appeared twice on the Jimmy Hopson Mug during the season. Great first season and with continued improvement will be knocking on the door of first grade in no time.

23/11/2023

Another stellar season from the Kotara South talisman. Got the nod from the Gaffa as his Player of the year, won Goal of the Year for a stunning strike against Mayfield at Nessie, and after winning the Jimmy Hopson mug on four occasions during the season got to take it home. Will be missed in season 2024, we look forward to his return.

23/11/2023

In his first season with the club Tom polled the most player votes for any player in any grade. Tenacious in the mid field and a player that goes flat out for the full 90 minutes. Was the Jimmy Hopson mug winner on two occasions.

23/11/2023

With 15 goals for the season Zac was the lead goal scorer across all grades. Burst out of the gates with a brace in round 1 verses Uni and was never headed in the golden boot race. Consistently bobbed up to score goals at important times, scored three braces during the season and a hat trick against Olympic away in Round 17. Has requested that we play Olympic every week of the season in 2024 after a haul of 5 goals in two matches against them in 2023.

23/11/2023

Left footer with the best stop and go in the league. Bagging 8 goals, multiple assists, and the winner of the Jimmy Hopson mug in round 14 verses Warners Bay, Will had a great season 2023. Big part in getting Ressies into and then winning a grand final.

23/11/2023

Got the nod from the coach as his player of the year. Super consistent all season in Reserve grade, while also racking up some quality minutes in the top grade, taking it to another level in the finals series when most needed. Great team player and also plays a strong Meme game!

23/11/2023

As captain of Ressies played every minute of the season, and leading from the front, won the Reserve Grade Players' Player in a canter. Didn't turn in a bad game all season and was massive in the finals series, especially the Grand Final. Stepped up to slot the equalising penalty in the Grand Final when the game was on the line, then stood tall to help keep the Suns scoreless in the second half.

23/11/2023

A stellar season saw Luka take home both the Players' Player and Player of the Year for third grade. Bossed the midfield for third grade and was the winner of the Jimmy Hopson mug for the final round of the season. Made a cameo late in the Reserve Grade Grand Final to earn a winners medal. Will definitely feature in the top two grades in season 2024.

23/11/2023

Showed the young guys how it is done in front of goal for another season. Racked up enough early season goals, before injuries caught up with him, to take the Third Grade Golden Boot title. To go with his 10 goals he also took home the Jimmy Hopson mug twice during the season.

25/09/2023

Only thing better than scoring the winning goal in a Grand Final is celebrating it with the fans!

Fantastic way to end the season for our Ressie boys and their coach. To go to the sheds a goal down, to then fight back with two second half goals shows the spirit and resolve that this team has played with all year.

Big thanks to all the Tigers faithful, young and old, who made the trip to Myers Park on Sunday, your support was fantastic and much appreciated by the team.

Goals to captain courageous Brayden Smith with a fearless penalty, and the winner neatly tucked away by Asama Radford

Big shout out to Newcastle Suns Football Club. Always a tough opponent, amazing season across all three grades, and well done on running a successful grand final day!

Lastly our sponsors who make it all possible. A massive thank you to each and every one of our 2023 sponsors, Walkom Real Estate The Blackbutt Hotel Nags Head Hotel Shammy's Carwash The Grand Hotel Newcastle and Newcastle United Sports CLUB

Season over for 1st Grade.

After a tough first half the three goal deficit proved to be too much for our first grade boys who could only get 1 back through Joe Barnett before full time.

All grades in finals is a great achievement for the club and it wouldnโ€™t happen without Mark Mansfield (1st grade coach) and David Hopsin (overall club legend) who have looked after the lads this season ๐Ÿ…

Final game of the season in the books, bring on the finals.

Sadly first grade and thirds were 2nd best against two strong Newcastle Suns sides. However, our ressies boys got the job done with a 1-0 result (goal to lord Larso) to finish second overall. Old Boys Day is upon us as we host Minmi FC

โฐ 11 - 12:45 - 2:30
๐Ÿ—“ SAT AUG 19 12
๐ŸŸThe Fortress @ Nesbitt Park

Arguably the biggest day on the calendar for the club, we are once again expecting a bumper crowd of past players to grace Nessie for a day of football.

With finals only two weeks away, Ressies have booked their spot, and Third grade only requires a single point from the final two games to secure theirs. First grade, on the other hand, needs a result and all three points. Currently sitting fourth, they are in a scrap for one of the last two spots in the final 5.

Two years ago, we were lucky enough to have John Duncan (pictured) join us for Old Boys Day. John, a life member and one of the founders of the club, gave a great speech to those assembled about his journey with the club. Rumor has it he may be joining us again.

The weather forecast looks fantastic, the BBQ will be running all day, and there will be a range of cold beverages for sale. It's always a great day at Nessie, so make your way down to join the festivities and cheer on the lads as they aim to grab all 9 points on offer.

Post game the celebrations will continue at our match day sponsor The Blackbutt Hotel

3rds are the highlight as the points are shared at Swansea.

It was the Tommy Chaplin show at Chapman Oval as he had a hat-trick and secured a comfortable win for the lads.

Ressies will definitely feel like this was 3 points which they let get away as they had a costly second half which resulted in a 3-3 draw.

First grade just couldnโ€™t capitalise on chances and made some costly errors in key positions. A really important final two games now faces the lads if they want to play finals football ๐Ÿ…
