I missed Throw Back Thursday!!! So we will have to settle for Framing Friday 😜

Two exquisite, yet small oil paintings of serene landscapes graced our table last year. The customer was happy for our guidance in a frame choice as she wanted something that spoke to the history of the pieces which had been passed down from her family. They are now elegantly framed in one of our intricately designed, soft silver frame. This frame blends simplicity with opulence, enhancing the beauty of each piece with a node to the era in which they were painted. We live for beautiful art paired with exquisite frames 😍

Happy Hump Day!

I hope everyone is staying warm as we descend into the depths of winter 🥶

Some projects arrive with an immediate clarity of the perfect frame to make the art sing. As soon as I saw this plate, its color and pattern revealed the ideal choice. Thankfully, the client trusted my vision and let me choose a complementary mat as well. The result? A simple, elegant display of a sentimental piece that will be cherished for generations.

We have another Throw Back Thursday today!

A customer came in wanting something special for this beautiful Tasmania Waratah print and after some consideration we decided on a beautiful black ornate frame that echoed the print perfectly. However she was disappointed that the decorative pattern wasn’t as visible. Well that’s an easy fix, I said! Just brush a little gold on the frame and it will pop and match perfectly with the lovely yellow ochre of the paper. It sure dose, don’t you think 😉

It’s Framing Friday!

Today I would like to show you an embellishment that has a long history in framing and that is French Lines! French Lines in picture framing refer to the technique of creating a border around a picture with multiple parallel lines, typically with varying thickness or spacing. It is a dying art but here at Art Stretchers we want to bring back this delicate and unique practice. Thank you to our wonderful who allow us to expand our creative skills!

This beautiful watercolour is by the amazing artist If you haven’t seen her work please go give her page a like and follow, you won’t be disappointed 💖 Her work is exquisite.

Framing Friday!!!

Hope everyone is having a warm and cozy day ☺️

For today’s Framing Friday we have a flag that is circa 1853 from the Royal Australian Yacht Club. It is so important to protect valuable and historic pieces like this so it has been framed with 99% UV glass and attached in a way that dose not damage the flag, as well as being fully removable if required.

On a side note… how divine is that ornate frame!!! Just perfect compliment for the era of the piece 😍

If you have any special memories or keepsakes that need preserving drop by for a consultation!

Good Afternoon Framing Family!!!

Do you have a canvas painting and not sure what your options are to frame it? Over the next few days we will share the three different looks you can can choose from!

The first example is by far our most popular option and it goes by a few different names… Float Frame, Shadow frame and even L frame which is a reference to its shape.

With this stunning example you can see how simple and contemporary the face of the frame looks by creating a soft, minimal look. The second photo you can see where the name shadow frame comes from! This style of frame complements the beautiful painting perfectly.

Any questions or need some advice? Give us a call or pop into the store! There are still some framing spots left for Christmas 🎄 They are filling fast though!

Happy Recreation Day!

As promised the final results of the custom work from last weekend 😍 This beautiful painting of butterflies by the legendary Australian artist David Bromley is set against a textured black mat to make those colours pop. To help bring even more colour to this stunning work, we decided on custom spacers that mirror the kaleidoscope of colours Bromley has used.

We love doing little things like this to really make the frame part of the art!

Happy Tuesday Framing Family!

Today for your viewing pleasure we have a bright, beautiful bouquet of blossoming blooms with a brilliant blue boarder! Try and say that 10 times fast 😂

The customer wanted something traditional yet striking and unique to go with such a strong painting. Most of our sculpted traditional mouldings come in simple dark colours so with a bit of artistic flair and a lick of paint, voila! A custom colour to complement the work perfectly.

If you’re looking for unique or custom framing solutions pop down to see us or give the shop a call. We love getting to flex our artistic skills!

Hello Framing Family!!!

It’s Framing Friday…. but it’s a Monday lol

For your viewing pleasure today we have a whimsical etching by David Boyd! How lucky can a framer be with such an amazing colour palette to work with 😍

As you can see we selected a soft yellow green mat that matches the subtle colour in the background of the art and a classic profile gold foil frame to bring those beautiful warm yellows and reds out!

If you’re wondering about the unusual dimensions of the mat, we never trim or edit original art work as this will devalue the art, so instead we make sure that the frame size has similar dimensions as this was the artists intention.

If you have any limited edition prints that need preserving, pop down to the store for a free design consultation.✨

Have a beautiful week!

Happy Wednesday Framing Family!

Anyone else need a little splash of colour in their week! I know I always do 😉

This was such a fun frame to do, as you can see it’s a poster from the recent movie release Top Gun so he wanted something simple and clean yet reflected the essence colours of the poster.

With that in mind, we designed a double mat of red and blue the match the stripes on Mavericks helmet, with the white bevels as nice accents. To finish, the right shade of red frame to match the mat and the picture. Throw in some AR70 glass and you have the perfect view of all the beautiful colours!

If you have any movie memorabilia or posters that need a new lease on life or preserving, pop down to the store! We would love to find new, creative and colourful ways to make your memories shine ✨

Hello again Framing Family!

The second print from the sneak peek I shared last week is by the amazing artist Linda Keough.

With this stunning limited edition print entitled “Diana and the Stag” we decided on a simple dark frame with a good inner lip which mirrors the frame in the painting perfectly. How could we not! As the client had preservation and presentation as a high priority, we chose a Museum grade rag mat and Museum grade glass which is 99% UV protective.

Such a privilege to help preserve beautiful art!

If you have any limited edition prints or any original art that you need to last a lifetime, pop in the store and we can help, not only prevent fading and damage over time, but do it in style!

Cheers

Happy Monday Framing Family!

Last week I showed you a peek at what I was working on and today you get to see one of the stunning results!

This beautiful Annie with and E print by Brad Kunkle was an exclusive limited edition print made for the title sequence of the Netflix show of the same name.

Our client is a collector of Brads prints and wanted this piece framed in the same way as another of his works they previously brought to us.

I just love the warm brown and gold tones Brad Kunkle is know for, such a distinctive style. So how could we not show it off with a soft gold mat and one of my favourite deep ornate frames and AR70 glass to help preserve it for the future!

Let me know what you think the frame and have you seen the show?

Have a beautiful day 🥰

Good Evening Framing Family!

Last week I posted a sneak peek at something beautiful and very special we were working on here at Art Stretchers. Some of you may have recognised what it was but for those who were left wondering, here is the full piece, framed and ready to be enjoyed!

This stunning yet fragile necklace is a family heirloom and one the customer wanted to enjoy without compromising its integrity. The solution, a beautiful custom shadowbox made of Tasmanian Blackwood, fitting for Maireener shell necklace which are painstakingly handcrafted by Aboriginal women here in Tasmania, with hundreds of tiny iridescent shells.

We have chosen to highlight this diverse play of colour, from deep ocean blues to subtle emerald greens and everything in-between, with a black cotton mat. For preservation and clarity, Museum glass was used which has a UV rating of 99%, ensuring that this treasure remains safe and preserved for comping generations.

If you have any family treasures you would like to display, please give us a call or pop into the store. We just love hearing all the stories and seeing the wonderful history of our customers :)

Stay warm!

We like big frames and we can not lie!!!

It’s true, we do love a big wide frame. Even for small works like this stunning acrylic painting of the Meander river by local artist and Glover finalist Paul Becker, we just can’t get enough of a frame with a bit of junk in its trunk 😉

Anyone else now got that song stuck in their heads… 😂

Have a beautiful weekend!

Hi Framing Family!

Sometimes work comes into our shop and we just want to keep it for ourselves! This is one such project that is so lovely and framed up perfectly.

For this simple yet elegant etching we chose a soft warm speckled conservation mat to compliment the tones of the work, paired with a contemporary Australian made oak stained frame with beautiful colouring and texture that echo’s the texture of the wheat perfectly. And of course the usual Antireflective ArtGlass (AR70) has been chosen so we can fully appreciate the subtle colours of the etching and help preserve it for the future.

Pop down or give us a call for a free, no obligation consultation where we can take your beautiful art to the next level!

Hi Framing Family!

This stunning work of art by Tasmanian artist Lex Palmer Bull came in to our shop recently! What an amazing opportunity to explore texture and pattern, to enhance and compliment this unique work.

We have chosen this beautiful fabric mat with a vertical pattern to counter balance the horizontal lines in the art and a 15mm wide inner grey mat to allow space for the art to breathe. To finish off, we have used a beautiful silver and black frame that has a soft stripe texture to, once again, echo the art. As always, the glass is hardly noticeable with anti reflective UV protective glass to help preserve it in the coming years.

Thank you to my wonderful customers who trusts our vision!

If you’re looking for unique and creative custom framing ideas, pop in to see us! Lysh and I are both artists and love to be creative 😊

Say warm lovely people!
