Christmas Night Market, tonight, gates open 6:30pm!
This will be our last market for 2022 and we will be back at Harvest Launceston on the 8th Jan.
Goodnight mushrooms, thank you for everything that you do for this planet, thank you for the joy you bring people. But thanks most of all for bringing Ferg and myself so so so so much job satisfaction. Sleep tight x
Mr Towns speaking.
This is one of those opportunities where I get to make sure Mr Brown gets all the cred he deserves.
I consider myself to be pretty fussy when it comes to things I think deserve spotlight. This is one of those things.
Ferg puts so much love into every task or job he gives himself, I get to watch this every week whilst we work together.
The branding is one example of that. I love it, it gives me good feelings every time I see it. I hope it does the same for you.
Thanks Ferg for keeping me honest, keeping the bar high and having a last name that rhymes with mine.
P.S. I’m the morel.
Kings of the fifth kingdom.
We are both feeling proud, encouraged and grateful this week after finding out we are a State Winner of the 2021 delicious. Harvey Norman Produce Awards.

A big hello to friends, family, current supporters of Wild Spore & newcomers to the page.
Just taking the opportunity to introduce ourselves:
Michael Townsend & Fergus Brown.
Over the last 12 months we have been so caught up in learning
how to grow mushrooms & learning how to grow a business, that we have not had the chance to say “Hello Tasmania.”
We really want to acknowledge Jaimee & Caleb Smith (previous owners of Wild Spore) for their support, encouragement and handover of the business. Michael met Jaimee and Caleb back in 1999 - 2000, when he was only 10 years old. Their paths crossed later in life & in 2019 Michael & Ferg became the new owners of Wild Spore, currently trading as Mr Brown & Towns Mushroom
Garden.
We are stoked to be able to hand deliver fresh mushrooms direct to restaurants, grocers and cafes throughout Launceston & provide direct to public sales at the Launceston Harvest Market each Saturday.
It’s time for us to say goodbye as we hand the batten of Wild Spore over to new owners! It has been a crazy ride - especially with all the zoning approval hold ups. During the lengthy wait to start up in a bigger facility, Caleb had to find other work and we gradually began to realise that this is our season to raise our family, not to grow a business. So we want to thank you all for loving our mushies and being so supportive ... it was your smiling faces and very vocal love of our mushrooms that kept us holding on for so long.
The new guys are awesome so keep an eye out for them and the exciting changes they bring. 😁
Renovations are well under way, and as we gear up for mushroom production again (finally!) we are looking for even more innovative, waste-reducing methods of growing. SO, we are trying to source lots of white food buckets. Can anyone with contacts in the food industry help us source some ??
Hello Mushroom-Lovers!
After a year of waiting (and hanging on by the skin of our teeth) we have been granted permission to apply to move facilities! This will allow us to expand production, grow all year round, and grow other varieties of mushrooms (eventually). 😊
We anticipate the application, move and set-up will take a couple of months but will keep you posted!
Thanks for being so patient!
Jaimee and Caleb
Harvest Launceston
We’re back ! 😊
I’ve been experimenting with other ways to use our mushi’s....dried oyster mushrooms....yummo 😊
Spring has sprung and so have our mushrooms! Yay! So we are happy to announce we'll be back at Harvest Launceston markets in a few weeks 😊
We at Wild Spore miss seeing you all at Harvest Launceston 😪 July is already upon us, but our mushrooms are still taking a winter siesta. We are excited to be expanding our facilities to accommodate their preference for cosier housing, however the process will take longer than we initially thought as we wait for (and welcome) some changes to zoning regulations. Sorry!!
Wild Spore will not be at Harvest Markets in June :( We will be taking this time to improve and expand our facilities and production. We will miss your smiling faces each week but look forward to seeing you again in July! :) If you are desperate for mushrooms, PM us and we may be able to do a few farm-gate sales :)
Unfortunately we won't be at Harvest Markets this Saturday :( but Grow-Your-Own mushroom bags will be available soon as a new addition to our stall ! :)
Looks like a great Tassie dinner! Repost by :

Thanks for the beautiful mushrooms! They're on the Christmas menu this week! We still have a few tables left.......it's your last opportunity to get a table this year as we are booked out for the last 2 weeks!
Do you want to try these little beauties? You'll find us at this Saturday!
Yaaaaawwwn! It was a big night for this girl. She delivered nine piglets. Our spent mushroom compost makes great bedding for such occasions. Nothing wasted!
Head down to get your hands on some freshly picked organically grown oyster mushrooms at
Check out these ginormous oyster mushrooms! The recycled coffee grounds certainly make big mushrooms!
