Hey Salseros, we look forward to sharing more Cuban 🇨🇺 moves and techniques with you in our END OF TERM classes this Friday, as well as recapping on Term 2.💃🏼

SalsaMe AGM 2023 & Social

Notice

The Annual General Meeting is a place for committee members, SalsaMe attendees and enthusiasts to get a broad overview of SalsaMe’s progress over the last year, our financial health and to help plan for growth in students, teacher development and social activities in the future.

This will present a great occasion to look at planning summer classes, social events, and workshops.

It is also an opportunity for anyone interested in becoming part of the committee (we do have vacancies). We can provide more information on this to anyone who has a small amount of time available.

Vale Natalia Rodriguez:
We heard the sad news of the passing of one of our own, Natalia Rodriguez yesterday.
Natalia passed away peacefully at 1am on Friday 29th September.
Her mother, Stella Rodriguez made the announcement through “Natalia’s Quest 4 Life” campaign (if you wish to read more).
Natalia absolutely LOVED dancing: Rueda de Casino, Salsa, Swing, Tango. She didn’t seem to need to do salsa classes! She learned intuitively: she was just a very natural follow.
I was privileged to get to know her in recent years, when she came to our regular social events: Harvest salsa parties, Thursday night dancing at The Plough (before Covid lockdown stopped that), Sunday Rueda in the Square. Stella often joined in, and sometimes her children came along.
She participated in all of the Salsa development workshops provided by her friend Nik Magnus from Casa Cubana, and was an excellent teaching partner. She also hoped to teach with SalsaMe, although she recognised that her health issues and reluctance to do “public speaking” were impediments.
Natalia was one of the bravest people I know. I rarely heard a complaint about the many treatments she endured. She had a high degree of integrity, while maintaining a quirky sense of humour through everything.
Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Stella, Ellie, Felix and all of Natalia’s family and friends. Natalia, we will miss your gentle, kind, cheeky, self-effacing presence in our lives.

Come and celebrate End of Term 3 this Friday with one class and a big social night. Wear your favourite threads to dance in!

There will be ONE 7.15pm Beginner+ Rueda Class followed at 8.15pm by our biggest ever Rueda de Casino, Ruedical Chairs games, bachata tracks and even more salsa. We will play requests!

This week: 7pm Cuban Salsa Beginners easy-paced class. Bachata warm up and some basic Cuban steps. Beginner Cuban pattern this week will be “El Justino” 😊 (ha ha!)
Snack break THEN 8pm Intro to Rueda:
Revise our basics then we reach 70 easy moves from our 💯 target! We continue with beautiful new turn patterns to build up to intermediate moves in coming weeks. Excited 😆!
