SWAGGER GRAMMAR // AFFECT vs EFFECT
Did you know…?
The word ‘affect’ means ‘to produce an effect on’.
The word ‘effect’ means ‘the result of an action’ or, as a verb, ‘to bring about or make something happen’.
Examples:
The Cancer Council looks at the ways cancer affects Australians and how to support them.
One effect of the ‘Quit smoking’ campaign was the overall decline of the number of smokers by 12%.
The manager wanted to effect change in the team.
This can be a tricky one!

Our team virtually attended the 2024 Reconciliation WA Breakfast earlier this week, from our offices in Rubibi (Broome) and Boorloo (Perth).
What an honour to witness truthtelling from a number of keynote speakers including Dr Betsy Buchanan, Justice Robert French and Uncle Richard Walley.
This week, we’ll be proudly joining the Walk for Reconciliation from Langley Park.
Will we see you there?
https://www.recwa.org.au/national-reconciliation-week/
Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (NRW), from May 27 to June 3.
This is a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how we can each contribute to reconciliation in Australia.
We are fortunate to have offices in both Rubibi (Broome) and Boorloo (Perth), enabling us to connect with many Indigenous-owned and operated businesses across this great state.
Recently, we have had the privilege of being accepted as a member of the Noongar Chamber of Commerce and are looking forward to strengthening our First Nations connections.
There are a variety of NRW activities being hosted this week – what will you be doing?

Now, more than ever, we need reconciliACTION.
We have been fortunate enough recently, to work with sophisticated Broome venue Cable Beach House (previously Zanders), on the creation of their new brand identity.
We collaborated with the new team on all things MarComms; from the brand new name to the design of the logo, website and menus through to collateral including business cards, coasters, stickers, and gift cards.
We think you’ll agree, the premium views of Cable Beach, and the cultured food and tonics on offer at the new venue, match the brand aesthetic perfectly!
Anna from takes leadership seriously - and we LOVE that!
Anna wanted to provide graduates from her recent Leaders Program, with a tangible and useful tool to implement what they’d learned.
So, we created a desk flip chart!
Proofreading, editing, design and production – we took care of the entire project - and they look great 😊
Let's give a massive shoutout to our stellar Managing Director, Rhianna Harby on her birthday! 🎉
Big thanks for being a superstar leader, and always being there for the HS team. Enjoy your special day! 💫
In a collaborative campaign with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, we worked with long term client Kimberley Mineral Sands on their National Road Safety Week campaign – Don’t muck with a truck!
KMS published a number of helpful tips to keep everyone safe on Broome roads, especially when sharing the highway with road trains.
We designed and produced flyers and digital content, as well as merchandise and radio scripts – and we think their tagline is great!
SWAGGER GRAMMAR // ACCEPT vs EXCEPT
Often a very tricky one to use correctly, it's important the right word is used, as they have totally different meanings!
While the verb ‘to accept’ means ‘to agree’ or ‘to receive’, ‘except’ (also a verb) means to ‘exclude.’
Examples:
She will accept their apology for the delay and agree to a later deadline.
I can meet most days, except Tuesday morning.
Did you already know that?
Working with as advisors to their small business community, we’re sharing our Marketing and Communications expertise, guidance and support through their online workshops.
Tomorrow, Tuesday April 23rd, MD Rhianna Harby will be imparting her wisdom on how to start building a brand.

For us, creating logo's is more than just graphic design. It's an opportunity to tell a story.
Do you love the logo as much as we do!? 😍
