The position will support the delivery of MultiLink’s agreed community engagement and capacity building strategies to better support culturally and linguistically diverse groups, associations, and individuals (particularly new and emerging ethno-specific) through:

• Supporting their own local communities,
• Accessing and navigating local service system and opportunities,
• Identifying emerging needs and appropriate responses,
• Developing their business administration and project management skills,

• Enhancing their capability and ability to seek and secure funding and other resources
Part of the key responsibilities of the role includes regular and ongoing consultation with diverse community leaders to stay abreast of the community’s needs, trends, and strengths, conducting community consultations to discuss issues, needs and challenges affecting their inclusion and assisting a community to develop plans to help address their needs and support vulnerable communities and their members.

Collins, Cian, Cristobal, Jefferson, Angel, Neol and Alex are International Students from Kenya, Spain, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador with some of them newly arrived to Australia.
Finding the right employment opportunity was a challenge for them as they needed to find work that would also fit with their school schedules. MultiLink's Diverse Workforce Hub team (pictured with our participants), through their connection to local employers, were able to match our participants needs with the right company.

MultiLink welcomes our new Youth Workers delivering our Reconnect – Newly Arrived Specialist (NAYS) Program – Teddy Geri and Emmanuel Nkurunziza!
Between them, Teddy and Emmanual bring a diversity of professional and personal experiences, skills, and enthusiasm to connect with, support and mentor newly arrived young people accessing our support services. They have been responsible in providing services and supporting the community in a number of areas including arrival and immigration assistance, cultural advice and support, an extensive range of support activities and build capacity of the community through enhancing understanding and integration into the Australian Community, community empowerment and support groups, facilitated cross cultural awareness workshops, and provided teaching assistance and interpreting services (just to name a few!).
To add to this wealth of knowledge and skills Teddy and Emmanuel speak 7 languages between them! Emmanuel is originally from Congo DR and speaks French, Kinyarwanda, Swahili, and Kirundi while Teddy is from South Sudan and speaks Madi, Acholi and Sudanese Arabic.

Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) backs onto the Kingston Train Station and is next door to the Gould Adams Aquatic Centre. It is a short walk from both the train station OR from the bus stop at Gould Adams Aquatic Centre.
“Walking in a Winter Wonderland!” … MultiLink’s aged and community care consumers were surprised and delighted earlier this month with a very special “Winter Wonderland” celebration at our Day Respite and Community Centre. Amongst the Winter Wonderland décor, fake snow and joy filled the air! There was much dancing, smiling, sharing and laughing involved to work up an appetite for the incredible culinary feast provided by our wonderful staff from all around the world. The lunch menu included:
Samoan Chop Suey, Vegetarian Haggis, Pork and Bean Cannelloni, Beef Nachos, Corned Beef and Beans and Vegetarian Stir fry, accompanied by home-made Fudge, Rice pudding, Macedonian doughnuts and Romanian Honey Cake for dessert.
Everyone left with full hearts and bellies with some big thanks to the staff for making it all happen!
On Monday 7th August, we’ll also be stepping right up to staff stalls, side-show alley and delight in all manner of “show splendour” in he Big Marquee as the ‘Ekka’ comes to MultiLink to surprise and delight the consumers at our Day Respite and Community Centre Monthly Big Bonanza Day!

“Hi-ho… its off to work we go….”
A "hi-ho" happy day at MultiLink last week as we celebrated another group of Skilling Queenslanders for Work graduates who completed a Cert. II Supply Chain Operations course gaining skills for warehousing and manufacturing work.
Half of this group already have jobs and that list will continue to grow over the coming weeks.

Friday 23rd June we celebrated another group of 10 Cert. I Hospitality Trainees with a fabulous graduation event at MultiLinks Aged Care Day Respite Service.
It was a beautiful way to close out Refugee Week with this group of Trainees coming from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Italy, the UK and Australia.
Each one of them has a story to tell. Each one of them worked hard during the 20-week Traineeship. And now most of them already have a new job in hospitality in Logan starting this week!
They should all be proud of themselves!!

“Oh what a night!” Thank you to everyone to joined us for the 2023 Refugee Week Logan Community Leaders Partnership Forum Dinner, hosted in partnership with Settlement Services International and Logan City Council on Thursday night at the Beenleigh Events Centre! A stunning night of networking, reflection, energy, hope and celebration of the achievements and vision of our refugee communities in Logan.

This was great fun for over 50 clients who attended our Lantern making workshop at MultiLink yesterday and facilitated by Multicultural Australia staff. our clients are very proud of their lanterns and are eagerly looking forward to carrying them tomorrow evening at this years Luminous Lantern Parade at South Bank Parklands!

This week, our aged care consumers attending our Day Respite and Community Centre have been treated to a hive a creativity to celebrate Mother Day, with gift hampers, nurturing activities and opportunities to connect and celebrate this important day with the amazing women in our community!
To all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts and maternal figures who have worked tirelessly, loved endlessly and provided unwavering support – we appreciate all that you do! Have a wonderful Mother’s Day on behalf of everyone at MultiLink. And to all those who might be missing a mum this weekend, we send our thoughts to you!

A wonderful start last night to this year’s series of Logan Community Leader partnership Forums facilitated by SSI, Logan City Council and MultiLink!
Over 40 diverse community leaders joined us to explore the importance of language, communication and cultural accessibility to support health needs and health literacy. Enormous thanks to our wonderful panel members – Donata Sackey (Mater Refugee Health Clinic & Refugee Health Network Queensland), Elham Monsef (Brisbane South PHN) and Grace Edwards (Multicultural Health Engagement Project), for sharing positive examples of best practice for community leaders to take away and action to support their important role as agents of communication and efficacy within their own communities.
It was great to welcome Cameron Dick MP, Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment and of course our wonderful local member for Woodridge, to MultiLink today!
This was a wonderful opportunity to say thank you face to face for the State Government’s continued investment in MultiLink as Multicultural Neighbourhood and Community Centre, and particularly for the funding uplift and the expansion of the Community Connect Worker initiative which MultiLink was successful in applying for.
We were also able to say thanks for the continued commitment addressing employment and training needs here in Logan through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program, of which MultiLink was successful in gaining 6 SQW programs across this calendar year, and the extension of MultiLink’s Logan Diverse Workforce Hub, which is continuing to support international students, migrants and refugees into work and contributing to the building of the Queensland economy.
The Minister was able to visit each of our service areas and talk with staff, spend some quality time with our SQW Hospitality Trainees at the Hole in the Wall Café, and hear about progress of the development of our new Multipurpose Community Centre.

MultiLink's Community Engagement & Support Team is growing, we’re looking for a Neighbourhood Community Worker!
Due to the steady growth and continued investment by the Queensland State Government in MultiLink as a funded Neighbourhood and Community Centre, a realignment of our Community Engagement and Support area has opened up a position for a Neighbourhood Community Worker.
The Neighbourhood Community Worker will support MultiLink’s core role as Logan’s multicultural Neighbourhood/Community Centre to provide friendly, localised access to individual, family and community services through the delivery of MultiLink’s annual neighbourhood centre workplan and the provision of a range of annual projects, events, ongoing and one-off client support activities, participation in various community networks and the development of resources.
The position will additionally support the collaborative delivery of information, support and referrals of vulnerable individuals, families and diverse communities working with the Community Connect Worker and Financial Wellbeing Worker as required; and provide varied administrative and direct operational delivery support to MultiLink to support its core role as a multicultural Neighbourhood/Community centre in Logan.

Huge congratulations to the Zomi Community of Queensland Inc. for their wonderful 75th Zomi Nam Ni (the 75th Zomi National Day Celebration) last night! What an event! A mix of young and old. Traditional and modern. History and vision. Dance and drama. Song and sound. Colour and movement and a showcase of Zomi culture and our multicultural community here in Logan with performances from the Samoan, Congolese and Khmer communities.
Congratulations to community President Suan Han Do and Secretary Kam Lian Kham Lian for their amazing leadership and all in the community who supported this event! And a special shoutout to the most wonderful MC’s for the event – Nau Nuam and Khaita! Your passion and enthusiasm was contagious!
