Safety switches | Electrical Safety Office 26/05/2023

This is your three-month reminder to test your safety switches!

Safety switches reduce the risk of an electric shock if there’s a fault in your electrical wiring or electrical equipment.

For more information on testing your safety switches, check out our website:

Safety switches | Electrical Safety Office Regardless of whether you own or rent, you should consider having safety switches installed on all circuits. Safety switches protect you, your family and anyone visiting the property from electric shock.

Changes to AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules Standard 14/05/2023

Sure! Safety switches are an important part of domestic switchboards as they help protect people from electric shock. According to AS/NZS 3000:2018, which is the Australian/New Zealand Wiring Rules standard, safety switches must be installed on all final sub-circuits that supply socket-outlets and lighting points in residential buildings¹.

The standard also mandates that switchboards must be labelled with the location of each final sub-circuit and the type of protective device used for each circuit¹.

Changes to AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring Rules Standard Electrical installation work must now comply with the new edition of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.

It’s our favourite event of the month!!!
It’s Meadowbrook parkrun’s pacer week!!!
We love helping you chase your goals and achieve a new PB!!

Sadly, yet again, our pacers weeks has been dampened with wet weather. We are good to go at this stage but please check our page in the morning for updates. With a night of rain ahead, we will do a course check early and advise if we have any safety concerns.

But with all going well 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻, we will see you all tomorrow.

* 6:40 ~ Volutneers and pacers to arrival please
* 6:50 ~ Volutneers and pacers photo
* 6:50 ~ First Timers Briefing
* 6:55 ~ Main Run Briefing
* 7:00 ~ parkrun starts!!!

A very big thank you to all our amazing volunteers, we honestly can’t do this week in and week out, without your help… THANK YOU!!

Look forward to hearing the PB bell ringing tomorrow. But remember, the most important thing is having fun and enjoying the morning with your parkrun community.

See you tomorrow,

Simone (RD), Nev (VC) and the Meadowbrook parkrun event team!!!

We are proud supporters of the Starlight foundation, helping sick children find happiness, happy Starlight Day

🐕 We love a good doggo at Starlight, particularly on National Puppy Day.

🌟 We have many kids whose Starlight Wish is a puppy, a wonderful companion to provide amazing positive distraction.

🐶 The kids in the Perth Starlight Express Room are also lucky enough to get fortnightly visits from Mars, this adorable french bulldog. Mars brings joy to sick kids in hospital by playing games, speaking (yes speaking), and just being all-round stunning.

💛 Sending all the vibes to the wonderful doggos out there.

If you have lost power and are using a generator at your business, workplace or home please read the below information to ensure you are using it safely and with as little risk as possible. Remember, it is extremely dangerous and illegal to connect a generator to your home using a power point on a power circuit or any other connection point.
⚠️ Portable generators should only be used to power essential equipment, such as fridges.
⚠️ Only connect your generator to your house if you have had an electrical contractor fit a proper generator change-over switch with the appropriate generator socket.
⚠️Do not connect your generator to your house using a power point on a power circuit or any other connection point. This is illegal and dangerous. This could energise the powerlines and cause an electric shock to anyone coming into contact with them.
⚠️ Also, plugging the generator into your house circuit could cause the generator to fail and cause a fire, or damage the generator and circuits.
⚠️ Ensure all leads used to connect your generator are in good working condition, i.e. no damage to plugs or lead and no exposed wires.
⚠️ Only use power boards that are protected by an overload cut out.
⚠️ Place leads and power boards so they will not be affected by mechanical damage (e.g. stepped on, tripping, etc), flooding, or fire (e.g. coiled leads, overload).
⚠️ Be aware of risks including electrocution and poisoning/suffocation from carbon monoxide exhaust gases.
⚠️ Always run the generator outdoors or in a well ventilated area, don’t exceed the generator’s load rating and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
