We at Pride in Peel and PFLAG Mandurah are truly disgusted by the recent remarks by MP Andrew Hastie, Senator Claire Chandler and their followers. We find this horrendous and sickening behaviour and provocation towards Lia Thomas and the gender diverse community. Seriously have these current politicians got nothing better to do than harass the gender diverse community, it’s shocking that this conduct is accepted and allowed.

To our members who have been impacted by this, please know we see you, we hear you and we love you. We will stand by you on occasions like this, you are not alone. Please be gentle with yourselves, maybe avoid the comments on posts like those mentioned above, as I say β€œI don’t have enough crayons to explain this to you today”. Let us know of any actions/campaigns you might hear of that can support a valuable discussion and awareness on this matter. Also, congratulations Lia and we’re sorry that what should have been an amazing moment in your life, has been robbed by prejudiced politicians, their uninformed members, and a media that’s happy to roast anyone remotely marginalised. Please accept this virtual teddy hug from us and Pip.
