Sending love this Father's Day…

Like all days that are meant to be special and celebrated, Father’s Day can be super tough.

In acknowledging that, I just want to say, Happy Father's Day to all the dads, uncles, stepdads, dads who are missing their kids, grandads, pops, godfathers, coaches, and mentors who love like a dad, and all the special dads in heaven.

To the many incredible men who have been father figures in my life, I have been super blessed and am grateful for the wisdom, love, and support you have shown me.

To my amazing husband, the best dad for our three kids, gosh, we love you! Thank you for always being there for us, for coaching the kids sports teams, for working long hours to provide for our family, for going the extra mile in everything you do, for your steadfast and unwavering love, for putting up with my annoying family selfie requests, and for being our biggest supporter! You are our rock, and I know you’re not a social media fan, but today I just wanted to publicly celebrate you.

Happy Father’s Day🥰

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to one of Mandurah’s true community champions, our very own Virginia Pitts OAM from Peel Multicultural Association Inc! 💕

Thank you for everything you do for our community. It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to get to know you and witness your passion over this past three years.

May you always feel how deeply appreciated you are, and know how grateful we are for all that you do, both seen and unseen.

Happy Birthday🥳

Unfortunately, I was not well enough to attend last nights council meeting in person, instead, I attended online.

This was not a decision made lightly.

I know that there are people that will be disappointed with the outcome and those that will be super excited…

My hope is we can stay kind and be respectful of peoples feelings, as all feelings are valid.

Please see below post from our Mayor for more details👉

Last night, Council made a decision to proceed with proposed plans to transform Mandurah's Western Foreshore.

This decision will gives a green light for the next stage of detailed planning for this proposal - a proposal that will see significant investment into the public and commercial spaces, and will include the biggest private investment into Mandurah's city centre in decades. Our goal is to shape a visionary space that the whole community can enjoy.

Adding to the new skate park and adventure playground that we completed in recent years, this project will see:
✔️upgraded jetties
✔️a huge village green events space for large community events
✔️an under-the-bridge amphitheatre for smaller events
✔️inflatable water park
✔️a market square for farmers markets and food truck festivals
✔️courts for pickleball and other activities
✔️increased parking
✔️better lighting and landscaping
✔️18 holes of quality mini golf among the trees
✔️a licensed restaurant/microbrewery
✔️chocolate factory
✔️café.

It’ll also deliver more than 400 jobs and training opportunities for our young people.

This is a fitting proposition for an important space.

We received a lot of feedback through our community consultation process, which will inform the next stages of the detailed planning. This includes addressing parking and traffic matters, which will require final approval at a later stage.

It's important to point out that this is a decision to proceed, but it isn't the final approval, and while we won't see anything happening on site for some time yet, we will proceed to the next phase of work.

The reason we have some positive momentum in Mandurah is because as a community we aren’t afraid to have a bold vision for Mandurah's future. This project is another step forward in bringing that vision to life, and I'm looking forward to working with stakeholders and the community to bring it to fruition.

A little shout out to a young lady who is going out of her way to make a positive difference in our community!

As most of us know, Mandurah is filled with extraordinary people who go out of their way to help others, and it brings me great joy to shine a light on one of Mandurah’s younger community big hearts, Bailee🙌🏻

Bailee has a genuine passion for supporting others and is always looking for ways to show tangible love for her community! Since being elected onto council I have had the pleasure of seeing Bailee in various volunteer roles, beaming her smile and sharing her kindness and contagious joy!

Most recently, through her creativity and dedication in making and selling beautiful keychains and lanyards, Bailee raised nearly $2,000 to go towards Eastlake Church’s “BEST DAY EVER,” a special day dedicated to all of Mandurah’s little superheroes.

Bailee~ You are a beacon of what is good in our community, and the light you shine inspires those around you to also shine their light✨ Thank you, for everything you do, seen and unseen, you are a STAR!

If you know someone in our community who like Bailee, deserves recognition and celebration, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to highlight the wonderful contributions that often go unnoticed💕Email: [email protected]

I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone who shared their thoughts, opinions, concerns, and ideas regarding the Western Foreshore Leisure Precinct and Commercial Site Business Plan.

After eight weeks of community consultation, we received over 1,000 formal responses. Today, I reviewed most of them and am so grateful to everyone who took the time to express their views.

I would also like to extend my thanks to those who reached out personally, whether via email, phone, or messenger. I apologise if I haven’t been able to respond to everyone. As you can imagine, there has been a significant volume of communication, but I am very sorry if I haven’t responded.

I will be considering all of your feedback at next week’s Ordinary Council Meeting.

Thank you so much, Marg, for the invitation to attend last night's PEEL Rotary Community Volunteers Peel Final Rotary Yr 6 Four Way Speech Contest !💕

Unfortunately, Councillor Shannon Wright - City of Mandurah and I arrived a bit late due to a council meeting. However, I am incredibly grateful to have heard the four speeches a few weeks ago. Judging by the comments from the judges, it’s clear the contestants truly outdid themselves in their final run-through!

A massive congratulations to this group of exceptional young ladies! Public speaking is a skill that can transform lives and open doors to countless opportunities.

It was fantastic to see so many people cheering them on from the audience!

My heartfelt appreciation goes to Marg and the incredible team from PEEL Rotary Community Volunteers, the legends from Mandurah Toastmasters for making us all feel so welcome, Mandurah Primary School Principal Natasha Upcott for being a champion encourager of young people in our community, and to the families, teachers, mentors, and friends of these four remarkable young ladies for all your support on their public speaking journey!

Taking time to pause and just be at the Koolbardies Talking Women’s Friendship Circle yesterday.

Such a wonderful opportunity for meaningful connections, authentic conversations, and the sharing of knowledge, understanding that we are all on a journey and that this journey can be easier when we do it together.

A shout out to community big heart~ Principal of Mandurah Primary School, Natasha Upcott, and her amazing staff for hosting, and a special thanks to Deputy Principal Trish Murphy for your delicious treats and homemade goodies! Wow, talk about being spoiled!

My heartfelt thanks to Elsie, Louise and to all the Koolbardies women, as Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

Sitting together, encouraging each other with empathy and kindness, I am so grateful to be part of this special circle of friendship.

The significance of winning the NBL1 West Men’s Championship this year, of all years, after only winning two games the year before, is nothing short of miraculous.

Last night was unbelievably special for so many reasons. For me, it was a testament to the heart that has held this club together. It was a reminder to not lose hope, it was 35 years of people who have given their all for a little basketball club in Mandurah!

It was a team of remarkable and skilled basketball players, and a coach that never stopped believing!

And then there was also this…

If you would have told me at the end of last year's men’s season, "Next year the men will win the championship," I would not have believed you. I also would not have believed that before the season would even start, we as a family club would be navigating the unimaginable grief of losing a much loved player, referee, friend, brother, son, at just 16, Werner Oosthuizen. A hardworking and dedicated athlete who lived and breathed basketball and was so deeply loved by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

It is fair to say, that this has been a season of holding both grief and joy, it has been filled with tears of despair and squeals of absolute happiness… it has been a season of hugs, high fives, and “I see you” and “we got this” conversations.

Watching our , Joel Murray, who this season has shined so brightly on and off the court, wearing the number Werner also wore, 24… that, that is possibly one of the most profound and beautiful things I've ever witnessed.

For Werner #24 ❤️🕊️

My little heart was absolutely bursting last night, as was possibly the case for over 4,000 Mandurah fans who were cheering loud at RAC stadium for the team they love❤️

From the bottom of the ladder to the absolute top😭🙌🏻 ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to these absolute champions, who have worked so hard to get here! What a season!! What a team!! Incredible men, on and off the court👊

To the Magic Men’s team coaches, especially the legendary head coach, Mark Utley, to their managers, Callie & Kyle’s, to the sponsors, board members, to ALL the people who work behind the scenes, the volunteers, the families, the staff, the life members, the fans… to EVERYONE who makes up the Mandurah Magic Family… WOOOOHOOOOO💥💥💥 THEY DID IT!!! And they couldn’t of got here without ALL of you!

To Casey Milo, , who not only won the 3pt shoot off last night, but who has also been a beacon of what this club is all about for decades! Thank you for your leadership, integrity, GRIT, commitment to excellence and above all else, your heart for this community! When I think of the quote, “We rise by lifting others”, I think of you! You are inspirational✨

Bring on the National’s!!

LETS GO MAGIC💥💥💥

There is not just one face to homelessness, just as there is not just one story.

Yesterday, many of the organisations, charities, and support services that know these faces and unique stories gathered on the foreshore for Homelessness Week, shining a light on their service and the role they play in supporting those who are not just homeless and sleeping rough, but also those who are at risk of becoming homeless.

The people who work and volunteer in these services know firsthand the complexities and challenges our most vulnerable face. They continue to show up day after day, knowing that they are limited in the help they provide and that resources aren't the roof that is needed most.

To every single person who works in this space, thank you. Thank you for being there when people need you most, thank you for holding on to hope for those who often feel hopeless.

My sincere appreciation to Lynn Rodgers and the team from WestAus Crisis & Welfare Service for creating this opportunity to connect and share the important work you all do in this space.

To those facing homelessness, sleeping rough, and navigating roads that people find hard to understand, we see you. Please know there are services and amazing people working and volunteering in these services who are there to help.
