This behaviour goes well beyond competition, well into a territory which can only be construed from the accumulating evidence; as an intent to economically harm the west.

To perceive Xi as a friend is to invite the fox into the hen house. Xi is gathering up contracts for resources to secure China's future. He is also best mates with a tyrant that he is helping.

Western allies are already fighting a cyber war.

Western wealth is being diverted by state sponsored programs to infiltrate and destroy Western commerce and destabilise people and politics.

If you want to win a war without firing a single bullet, all you have to do is deconstruct the enemy's capacity to fund battle and supply chains.

i recently took on a case that the U.S. Secret Service had not been able to track. A USSS letter explained the case could not be solved. It was at this point that I took over.

It is important to understand that law enforcement often have educational and departmental limitations, when it comes to complex cryptocurrency based crimes.

The sheer volume of what you might call 'smaller crimes' against people isn't being resourced very well by law enforcement worldwide.

Which only speaks to the need to share the lessons of The Dark Night Online through the training programs of Blockchain Downunder.

Competency can vary significantly between departments and between people. Old investigative methods and departmental processes don't always transfer well to a new world.

Law enforcement understands the need to evolve, but also needs patient teachers, who can assist with guidance to help to resolve the cyber and crypto crime epidemic.

In the rejected case, my client watched in real time as I followed her instinctive anomaly, which led us right to the criminal. But only after diligent, methodical work.

What's different about the TDNO approach is how we reconcile an affidavit statement of facts, with cyber forensics, documentary and real evidence and a chronology/ sequence of events.

Blockchain Downunder | HACKTOBER: We wrap up the month on Monday 31st, October 2022, as the worst month on record for CONSUMER SAFETY.

Like this post if you are a leader who thinks it is important to uphold a burden of duty to protect consumers.

By mid October the numbers of consumer financial losses were already in the billions, with additional breaches and hacks broadly across industries.

October’s loss is epidemic.

Long ago, I approached ADCCA (now Blockchain Australia) with a proposal to help launch the organistion.

I had success as a senior FinTech exec and thought I would get into a peak body in Blockchain.

I signed an NDA and presented my plan to assist the CEO and the board.

I sat in on meetings at Sydney Stock Exchange, and in meetings with earliest adopters of Blockchain.

During my presentation to the Board of ADCCA, I was the only person in the room who actually used cryptocurrency, the only one with with a Bitcoin and Ethereum EFTPOS card. The only one with transactional experience.

I mined Bitcoin and Ethereum long before this was popular, and was already expert across all the exchange and trade workflows.

I hadn’t just studied Satoshi, I studied the underlying philosophies. Like the difference between horizontal and vertical collectivism.

Ethics and virtue are core to my personal philosophy.

I live by personal ideals like upholding the Human Rights Act 2000, The Hippocratic Oath (Do no harm) and above the line behaviour in leadership.

An old world thing called responsibility, which seems to be lacking across contemporary leadership.

Government reviews into Australian banking industry revealed systemic corruption.

When I learned that Australian
bankers would become main sponsors, I understood that a Blockchain peak body would not be the right place for me.

So I walked away.
And I was right.

This issue with setting high standards for ethics in governance isn’t limited to Australia.

The broad issue is that ambitious people routinely put money before people and then let people suffer.

And that’s not OK.

We’re watching a generation of cavalier leaders rush headlong into systemic changes in FinTech.

Changes that have led to the highest consumer losses on record.

While change is needed, it is very unfair for the burden of cost of failure of technology systems and services to fall on the consumer.

Inexperienced leaders may lack the emotional intelligence to understand that once you lose consumer trust, you lose value.

Hyping things up can add short term value quickly, but that value won’t remain unless the value of consumers is safe.

HACKTOBER reveals:

Value is clearly not safe in cryptocurrency.

October Becomes Worst Month for Crypto Hacks With Two Weeks to Go Over $718 million has been stolen from DeFi protocols across eleven different hacks this month so far, per research firm Chainalysis.

One third into October, this month had already been declared the worst month on record; with the highest-ever-levels of hacks, and the most cryptocurrency and FIAT cash money ever extorted and stolen.

In amongst all this theft and fraud, Cryptocurrency exchanges have accelerated paid advertising campaigns, citing that crypto is safe. Akin to sending your pet duck to the lake during hunting season.

TDNO evidenced this with a video report on TikTok, revealing live and in real-time, the dozens of fake exchange support accounts on Twitter that Cryptocurrency exchanges have been negligent in confronting.

Law enforcement and the private agencies that support them, have responded by accelerating their work rate, improving collaboration, and taking up crime fighting tools through data analysis.

Every day this month, I have received daily reports of hacks and losses; each report contributing to a significant list of mainstream databases along with the breached identities of consumers.

In some individual cases, tens to hundreds of millions of USD in cryptocurrency have been siphoned and stolen. This is one of the biggest shifts of consumer funds to have occurred recently.

Call this THE DIGITAL EPIDEMIC.

Note that in my world of Crypto Crime fighting, the key figure to look at is USDT (Tether), which is a popular Stable Coin for reducing volatility to value by 'tethering" crypto to the US Dollar.

As it turns out, criminals like to stabilise their illicit gains.

USDT operates on the ERC20 or Ethereum (ETH) protocol and is backed by USD so that 1USDT is 1USD.

Note that USDT is now number three cryptocurrency.

Another point to note is that your ETH and USDT address at an exchange will be the same wallet address. This is good, because it means that crypto crime fighters can use Blockchain Analysis for Blockchain Investigation of the Ethereum protocol to chase and catch those criminals. Typically, this will be to produce a forensic chain of evidence that law enforcement prosecutors can use to convict the criminals, and where possible, return funds to the victims.
