PERFECTION IN THE LIGHT AND DARK
Anyone else facing off with their perfectionism of late?
The need to get it ALL EXACTLY right?
To say the right things
To do the right things
To have a body that’s working or looking ‘right’.
It’s suffocating.
And depleting.
I see you! Because I’m tussling with it too!
I’d thought I’d made peace with this part of myself years ago - and found more balance - but it’s amazing how old protective mechanisms can wiggle their way back in.
As kids we get taught what’s “good” and what’s “bad”. And we evict the “bad” parts to the dungeon. That’s who we “can’t” be.
Ugly. Loud. Emotional. Angry. Messy. Judgmental. (At least for me.)
But the so-called “bad” parts have so much power and so much magic to them. If we can befriend them again.
Sometimes ugly is beautiful because it holds truth.
Sometimes loud is necessary as it’s something that needs to be heard (or celebrated or simply EXPRESSED).
Sometimes emotional is the only compass we have for the map of our hearts and the history it holds.
Sometimes angry is the clarity and self-respect we’ve been hunting for in all the “perfection”.
Sometimes messy is the bravest way to be in a time of insanity.
And sometimes judgment is the clear-sighted discernment we’ve been longing for in trying to get it “right”.
Maturing isn’t about perfection, it’s about RECLAMATION. Of all the parts we shunned away in an effort to stay safe.
Growing up isn’t about getting it right, it’s about owning mistakes and learning to smile along the way.
Yep. Messy in the middle written across my forehead with a twinkle in my eye.
Angry out loud as discernment lands - and I realise the confidence I’ve been searching for lived in the shadows of shame and all the parts of me I simply needed to reclaim.
I’m giving up on perfection (again).
Whole-hearted messy and magic all the way.
❤️

Supported flow. Supported release. Supported exploration. Mmmm the joy of sharing movement and touch through massage never dims. Sometimes we need a little help to feel and explore what’s happening in our own bodies (and minds). Sometimes we need the invitation from another person to be or move differently. Love these moments! And so happy to be back into it. Shout out if you’d like to book. #massage #thaimassage #yoga #bodyawareness #movementismedicine #itsalljustlove
I love collaborating... There’s something about bringing the passion, skills and perspectives of multiple people together that brings me joy! And I’m super excited to announce that I’m joining forces with @maddysennation of @equinationtherapies . If you’re a horse lover and horse rider who is keen to explore YOUR movement and connection at the same time as supporting your HORSE’S movement and connection then this could be something down your alley. We’ve been having a lot of laughs getting things ticking behind the scenes. We’ll have full details out in the next few days so stay tuned! And in the mean time, you can marvel at our speaking to camera prowess 🙄🙄🤣🤣🤣 (They say practice makes perfect 🤞🏽😂) . #horseriding #equinemyotherapy #yoga #pilates #mindfulmovement #mobility #connection #mindfulness #animalconnection #horseandriderprogram
Birdsong tapestries woven across the landscape. Whenever I’m in the hills I’m reminded there’s a song that echoes beyond human timelines. An ancient song that started long before we rose to walk upon the Earth. A song that will carry on further than the mind can grasp. I’m written into that song. So are you. We are notes within an infinite unfolding. My ending, won’t diminish its harmony (and now will yours). And yet, our presence most certainly adds to its grandeur. Perspective is power. And presence gives grace. May we all sense our part in this song and hear its ever-present beauty. #morethanhuman #songlines #naturetherapy #perspective #mountains #nature #birds #robin
