If you know me, you know how much I love octopuses. Incredibly intelligent, their minds and bodies are a true masterpiece. 🙌
This has been a project I have been thinking about since I started my clay journey.
Although there are a few things I would change,
(the shape of some tentacles/adding beautiful suckers/adding texture...) I can't be too hard on myself. I stayed up all night and the 1 year old woke 4 times during the process 😵‍💫
I'll be honest, it was my first go and it did get to the point where I just wanted to give up. I powered through and reminded myself that no matter how it turned out, I have learnt many valuable things and every piece gives me new skills. I'm so glad I did, it's my favourite and I don't think I'll be selling this one!

Nudibranch on coral.
These gastropod molluscs are beautiful and come in an array of colours and shapes.
Here is my own version I made for my mother, mostly while my baby slept. Free time is getting rarer these days 😆❤

Mixing the colours on this hermit crab was a lot of fun.
I included a before and after to illustrate yet another outcome, I had not foreseen.
The first image was taken right before baking, as you can see the beautiful brown shell was carefully selected.
Once baking however, the colour drained right out of it! I was only a little devastated.
Once baked, I used a gloss finish that really made the colours stand out. I will be opting for a matt finish for most of my products in the future, as the shine takes away some of the smaller details.
Overall very happy with this psychedelic crab.
More sea creatures to come...

Two Amanitas and a tree spirit ✌
My first ever clay mushrooms, these two were a gift for my sister back in 2017.

On a trip to the Redwood Forest together (Warburton VIC), I saw my first ever Amanita Muscarias many years ago.

I thought the gift fitting as my sister is very fond of mushroom spotting and couldn't help but add a glow in the dark tree spirit (Princess Mononoke fans?).

Being my second attempt at polymer clay ever, I am very proud of what I produced! However, I am always perfecting my art and can see how much I have refined my techniques (especially textures) and improved since.
