This Thursday 13/10/22 is expecting between 40-65mm of rain across Melbourne.
Here are some tips to prepare your home for a heavy rainfall...
1. Check your roof - make sure it's in good condition and look for any cracks etc.
2. Clean your gutters - remove any mud/grass build-up, and keep your downpipes clear.
3. Clear debris from stormwater drains - even though it's the council's job, clearing debris away from them can go a long way in protecting your home from water damage and sewer back-up issues during a heavy rainfall.
4. Shut all doors and windows and check their seal.
5. Check that loose items such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured.
Finally, check the www.bom.gov.au website or app and listen to your local radio station for storm warnings and updates.

Australian businesses can now register for a simpler and more memorable domain name which ends in .au (rather than .com.au, .net.au, .org.au, .gov.au or .edu.au).
However, this now creates another avenue for cyber-criminals to conduct fraudulent activities if businesses leave them unregistered.
The Australian Cyber Security Centre recommends all Aussie businesses register their .au equivalent before 20th September 2022.
You can reserve your .au domain name by visiting an auDA accredited registrar.

These five simple and low cost - yet highly effective steps - are essential to reduce the rapidly increasing number of cyber crimes and their potentially devastating impacts on you or your business.
1. Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) - make it harder for attackers to use stolen or phished credentials.
2. Apply 'least privilege' access - minimise the level of access needed to perform certain job functions.
3. Keep software and applications up to date - mitigate against the risk of vulnerabilities.
4. Use anti-virus software - install and enable anti-virus solutions to stop malware attacks from executing.
5. Protect your data - know where your sensitive data is stored and who can access it.

What's the single MOST important part of an insurance policy? Getting the Insured's name correct - and that Insured name must be a full legal entity. If it's not, then your insurance policy becomes invalid and may not respond to claims. Near enough is not good enough, so make sure it's right before you give it to your broker.
