Drop by Family Day this weekend! The event is organised by some of the amazing graduates of the Opening Doors program at Village Well in Box Hill, and is aimed to promote social inclusion and showcase our wonderfully diverse Whitehorse community! It should be a fun-filled day with a variety of activities. Lets show some support! ❤️
🌎 Our Climate Response Strategy 2023-2030 and Climate Response Plan 2023-2026 were adopted at the Council meeting last night!
Along with other environmental sustainability strategies, they will support us to take a leadership role in addressing climate change as part of our Community Vision.
Our Climate Response Strategy targets are:
· Maintain carbon neutral status for corporate emissions
· Source 100 per cent renewable electricity for Council operations by 2025
· Achieve net zero corporate emissions by 2032
· Aspire for net zero community emissions by 2040

👏 Thanks to our community for being part of the journey to bring this to life!
📌❗️Customer Service Centres
Incredibly disappointing decision by Council last night, in relation to closing Box Hill Town Hall Customer Service Centre and Forest Hill Customer Service Centre.
In my view it is short-sighted, and given Box Hill Town Hall's historical, civic and cultural significance, and located in the main activity hub of Whitehorse, the decision limits people's choice and accessibility to Council-related information and services, particularly those in the community who need it the most.
I ran an alternate motion to look at extending the operations for both Box Hill Customer Service Centre and Forest Hill Customer Service Centre until at least 2025 (this is in line with Forest Hill Customer Service Centre's lease expiry date), and also called for a report back to Council to investigate the option of a front-of-house information desk / counter at Box Hill Town Hall. Unfortunately it came down to a casting vote and was voted down.
My focus now will be working with Officers to ensure that there is at the very least a front-of-house reception / information counter at the Box Hill Town Hall.
Thank you to everyone who completed the survey and provided valuable feedback.
For those who are interested, the meeting, including the full debate on this matter is on the Council website and can be accessed via the following link:

It was a pleasure to attend Louise Multicultural Community Centre’s (LMCC) AGM with the Mayor Cr Denise Massoud. Great to hear that LMCC has bounced back from the impacts of the pandemic / lockdowns, and is going from strength-to-strenth, providing valuable programs and services to our diverse community.
LMCC has also successfully co-delivered a number of outreach programs, including partnering up with local neighbourhood and community houses, engaging positively with vulnerable residents/communities.
Well done again to Jennifer, Klaudia and the amazing LMCC team - including the tutors, staff and volunteers - on all their wonderful achievements over the past twelve months.

Great to join the Melbourne Baseball Club @ Arthur Field Surrey Park this past weekend for the triple header and the first pitch! Thanks again for having me! 😊
⚾️ ARTHUR FIELD ⚾️
We hosted our first triple header of the year this weekend…
We had the privilege of having MCC Commitee Member and Sporting Sections Chair .7 along side Councillor Tina Liu throwing the first pitch to kick start an epic day of baseball.
The Women’s section kicked off the proceedings with a tight game against coming second in a 3-4 defeat.
The Mens 2 and 1’s followed with the final match being played under lights 💡
Unfortunately all three teams were defeated on the day.
It’s only week 2 so we have a long and promising season ahead of us!
Thank you to all of you that came out to support such a big day of baseball.
To all out volunteers thank you so much for all your hard work and time, none of this would be possible without each and everyone of you!
Congratulations to my Councillor colleagues Cr Raylene Carr & Cr Andrew Munroe and Cr Andrew Davenport & Cr Denise Massoud for their 15 and 10 years respectively of service in local government.
